Ok after 2 reboots managed to get into Bios, Bios set to

2-3-3-5
1T
2.7V

First note was that aquamark score dropped by 800 points

Sandra was no longer reporting the CPU undervolted
Sandra was also reporting that memory was running at 2.0-3-3-3 2CMD ??

The moment of truth...
After 3 reboots I finaly got past the Drive check in post boot,

So the results from this cleared the voltage message in Sandra but has not cured the post boot problem..... any further advice ?

***Update***

I setup a memtest 3.2 disk and rebooted, a message came up loading and then for 15 mins 5 sets of numbers scrolled down the screen repeating themselves, after 15 mins I gave up and rebooted.

Is it supposed to do this and if so for how long ? I thought I would get some kind of menu prompt / screen ???

I wanted to post an update. Xitar was on the money -- this was my problem. Disabling the nVidia firewall made the port work again.

Hopefully this confirmation will be of help to someone having hte same problem in the future. Thanks again Xitar!

why don't you try running it on auto settings and see what sistrand says, that acutal works the best when I find the need to OC.
On full auto everest is showing me running at 2.5-3-3-5.

Well,that is not Memtest,I do not know what your problem may be, rather strange!!
Which Bios are you using? I recommend you 1006, update or reinstall it!! the RAM timings are not the problem I guess, the problem may be on other component as you say you could only get into the bios after 2 reboots!!Even with non working Ram you should have normal access to the bios at once!
Don't know what is happening to your Pc, try the Bios version I mentioned.If you do not know how to update via floppy disk, please ask us!

Have you selected DDR400 in Max Memclock in the Bios?
And 200Mhz in CPU Frequency?
Leave the Cpu voltage and Ram voltage on Auto to see if that could help you!
In PCI EXpress Clock set it to 100 and in PCI Clock synchronization mode: 33´33Mhz

Sorry for the lack of description in my previous post. Let me clarify for you guys.
I have the Asus mobo (obviously), two MSI 6600gt's, 1gb of ultra ddr ram, A Ultra X-connect 500w psu, a hitachi dekstar 80gb sata hardrive, a samsung 60gb ata hardrive, and an amd fx-53 processor. Here's my problem, whenever I try to turn my system on, its runs, everythings good. But, I dont receive any output from and of perhipals, monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers, etc. The psu has a 20 pin connector, is that the problem, I have the 4 pin connector plugged in also, the one near the chipset fan. Is it that I need a 20 to 24 pin connector? Or do I have to buy a new psu? Or is my system just toally messed up? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

(BTW I ordered a 20-24 pin connector today just in case thats the problem.)

Firstly, in your bios (1006 is the best by now) , go to the "Plug and Play" (Think it is in BOOT menu,can't remember, simply explore your bios) setting and set it to "yes". Reboot, if the problem remains, I would suggest you to buy a new PSU with 24 pin!

Yesssssssssss people I finally fixed my "shake" problem.

It was because of the video cards, I simply changed card 1 for card 2, but this time I uninstalled drivers first, then I made the change, and finally I booted up @ safe mode, Installed new drivers and voila ! The problem was solved !!

First of all my system tends to freeze 2-3s from time to time when operating in Windows.
Is can happend when I am browsing or working with various programs. After the freeze, where even the mousepointer is blocked, I can work as normal again. Am I the only one with this problem.

I am running BIOS 1007.

Kingstone GeForce 6600 GT

Well that really could be anything causing that, give a fulll run down of when it happens and if you recive any error codes, BSOD, reboots that sort of thing. Please also include full hardware specs, drives and what prts you are running on, if you are OC, if you have Q&C engaged that sort of stuff. Also have you updated the nvida drivers yet?

I'm glad to hear it but what would swapping the video cards out do that for, it would lead me to believe one of them is deffective?

It might work it depends more upon your power supply, I use one and it really is not needed but its nice to have it on the power supply. The one thing that has happened in the past is that people have plugged the 20 pin connector in wrong and fry the MOBO, some of the things on the mobo work, some don't(like the bios). Your PSU should be able to handle the system, I would,
A: strip down the system to a bootable drive and a HDD, and one video card (maybe even one dimm)and see if you get a anything. ESP if you are using old parts, try and use the new(est) parts first and build the system up from there. If this works it should be a process of elimanation from there.
B:If you can make sure your voltage output is OK with a digital volt meter, don't attempt this unless you know how.
C:make sure for sure that your power on, and rest terminals, speaker down on the lower right of the board are plugged in correctly.
D:make sure your CPU is seated correctly, and that the HS&F is properly atttached to it.
E: make sure your memory is in A1 & B1 , since you are not even getting to mem test more then likely. I would un plug one/swap them and see what happens.

IS the computer beeping, saying that everything runs OK without video is sorta assuming that it is.

I gave up and did a total reinstallation of XP SP1 now.

I am not very good at this, so I might have done something wrong. But when my network stoped working as well gave up.

But I will try to give you all the information I know.

I have
ASUS A8N SLI Deluxe
Gigabyte nVidia Geforce 6600GT 128 MB
Kingmax 2x512Mb PC3200/DDR400 CL2.5 184p SuperRAM
1 Maxtor U133 ATA 80Gb
1 IBM U100 120Gb

I put the memory in modules A1 and B1
I haven't changed anything in BIOS except Boot up seq.

So what I will do after install is finish.
Install newest Nvidia Grahics drivers
Install newest Nvida Nforce drivers. Should I install the IDE driver?

I will keep on posting during the install, Because I am sure that the problem will persist.

I believe you need to do sp2 first in fact I would anyway.
Then the drivers, for your mobo(1007), the chipset/lan (nforce4), then your video drivers from nvidia(71.84), then the bios for you video card. Also make sure the SLI jumoper is set correctly since you are only using one card the factory set them wrong to the 2 card setup.


I am running 1007 and it stable for me with OC so it should work. Yes you should install the IDE driver(nforce), esp if you use IDE drives it has been problomatic. One thing you should be aware of is that the nvidai firewall is installed and I would not use that if it prompts you to install it(i don't remember if it does anymore) that has caused alot of network problems with the latest nforce drivers. Also if you run AIbooster(the OC program) it can/will cause problems like you have described, esp if you set it auto.

nVidia Chipset(CK804) driver version V6.31 for Windows XP/XP/2003 (2/2).

is that what you mean...? And also I need to install drivers for Ethernet before donwloading SP2, I guess..

BTW the cards doesn't seems to be deffective, but it is very strange the fixed "shake" when I swithed between them...

I am using 1004 bios, 71.89 WHQL for video and 6.53 WHQL for chipset (nforce 4)

Do you recommend something different ?

Flashing the video card is up to xfx I don't know if they even support it, but I would imagine that they do. I only use MSI so I can only speak for them and they do have reflashable bios on the nx6600gt.
All the bios(for mobo) should at least work, the majority of any difference in opinion is how well they overclock and work with some secondary feartures. I am now using 1007(final) it works fine for me with a slight OC when I use it, but not very often as this blasted computer can out bandwitdth just about any program or game I run. The 3800 is a high end processor so I don't think you even really need to OC but if you do I doubt your gains will very much(someone with a 3800 could most lilkely tell you).

The botltlenecks esp for games are at the video card(s) and internet connection for me. I can run prime95 and play farcry and not even see a preformance degradation, other then running really warm.

Carl, I had a similar problem with only the Marvel adapter working. The I downloaded both the "standalone kit" and the unified driver from nvidia, and although I don't know the difference other than drastically different version numbers, one of them had an ethernet driver that worked for me and the other didn't (I don't remember which one worked and I'm not home)
