Ok, I've been fighting this problem for a few weeks now, and think I need some help. I've built many a system, but never one that gave me so many problems. Such is life with an A8N-SLI Deluxe I guess.
Here is my Setup:
A8N-SLI Deluxe Mobo
(Flashed to 1006, using nForce WHQL 6.53 drivers)
Athlon 64 3500 (Newcastle 130nm/512k L2)
1xBFG GeForce 6800GT OC (not using SLI)
(using WHQL ForceWare 71.89 drivers)
Kingston 1GB PC3200(2x512) Matched Pair
Antec TRUE 430Watt Power Supply
(26a on the 12v Rail with 20pin Connector)
2x250gig Maxstor's with 16meg Cache (ATA)
Plextor PX-716A DVD±RW (ATA)
LiteOn CD-RW (ATA)
3x80mm Case Fans
Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS (PCI)
Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-150MCE (PCI)
Sony HS75P/S 17-inch LCD Monitor
Windows XP Pro
Before I got the BFG GeForce 6800GT OC I first had a BFG GeForce 6600GT OC, but I kept getting a "Problem Report" from the "NVIDIA System Sentinel" that the "NVIDIA-powered graphics card is not receiving sufficient power." Since the PCI-e version of the 6600GT doesn't have an Aux Power connector on the back of the card to give it more power, it draws all of its power from the PCI-e bus. It would work perfectly fine for normall desktop use, but if I played a game like Half-Life 2 with 3D graphics, I would get the error. Could not solve that problem, so I said the heck with it, and bought a BFG GeForce 6800GT OC since it has the 6 pin Aux power connector on it to get more power to it. The Problem with the "NVIDIA System Sentinel" went away, to only be replaced by a new problem. Again this doesn't happen in normal desktop use, only in 3D games. After playing the game for about 10 minutes or so, the monitor will give a message on the screen like it has lost the video signal, and then the computer will restart. When it's coming back up after the restart, I notice that the red light near the Aux Power connector on the 6800GT isn't lit (and the FAN on the 6800GT isn't spinning either), and it will boot to the desktop with no video (I know this, because I can hear the Windows startup sound). I have to actually hold down the power button on the computer to turn it off for a few seconds, and then when I turn it on, it will startup with video, like nothing was wrong. I'm thinking one of two things, #1 power supply problem, #2 motherboard problem (I think there's a REMOTE possibility that #3 it could be a problem with the 6800GT but I doubt it). I have an "OCZ ModStream ATX 520W Power Supply (28a on the 12v Rail with 24pin Connector) on order, but it hasn't arrived yet. Does anyone have any idea's on what might be going on??? I just seem to be pouring more and more money into my new computer with no solution in sight.
Thanks for any help out there...
