These are the readings I have gotten, before I go to far I do have to tell you that the ambient in the house has been very low, I would say mid 60's since we have finally gotten some nice weather around here. I did notice since the windows have been open the temps dropped across the board about 8 degrees except for Idle. Also another precursor is that I have had all my fans on low my case is closed but i have 2 fans point in the general direction of the chipset, the chipset has been reading 7300 7600 rpm with really no constant regularity. The cross check for and temp varience between the 2 temp sensors has always been with .3(for the most part the same) of a degree and all cases I went with the highest.
my other settings are C & Q engaged, manual OC to 201 everything else is set to auto so the multipler and voltage change.

ok here we go,
at start up with 8-10 hours of off time and a cool ambient the chipset reads 40.7 with 30 seconds(every time)

after about 10 minutes, of light to no load, 43.7

gamed with FPS joint operations,(this has produced the highest chipset temps todate) and very low ambient(i actually was cold, the thermostat in the house said 64-take that for what its worth) 51.7C -this is about 10 degress colder then the hottest I have seen without both TC's on. I was getting fresh air into the room from outside no stagnite air.

idle untill 10pm about 8 hours later, 44.6C shutdown,

off for about 16 hours, turned on left idle for about 2 hours, 43.9C

gamed again on my lan as a server for about an hour 58.7C peak, although it was going up and down quite a bit, this was running rise of nations. windows were closed so no fresh air in the area of the computer, but the heat was still off. shut down untill monday at 8 am

8am monday gamed with p95 running on toruture till 10:30a still only got 52C
ambient was 66F

Hey there guys !

Well I have a problem with an ASUS-A8N SLI DELUXE.

My system:

AMD 64 3800+ (Newcastle) @ 2.54 GHZ (2544 MHZ 212x12) with XP-120
ASUS A8N-SLI DELUXE bios 1007s03 (I think so)
2x512 Geil Ultra-X tccd 2-2-2-5 DDR400
WD Raptor 10k RPM 36 GB
SG Barracuda 8MB 200 GB
2x 6800GT XFX @ 390/1100
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS
Thermaltake Purepower 680w

I have inestability, blue screens, freezes, crashes :/

If you take a look at my system, the oc is very small, I mean, only 212 FSB 1:1, if I use 213 or more the system is very unstable, for example blue screens withe the system idle, sometimes the error message is nv4disp, sometimes is unknown, the truth is that I am tired of this mobo I dont Know what I am doing wrong, I just want a little more oc

I am using latest 6.53 WHQL nforce 4 drivers (nvidia) and 76.50 beta drivers for video, I tried using system stock speeds but I am still experiencing random crashes (less).

What can I do ??

Temp seems to be OK, I have 30 / 33 C idle and 42 / 44 Full load with the small oc (2544 MHZ).

Please I need help :( I hate using the system @ stock speeds, but I hate most the random crashes, I am using java platform (JRE 1.5.0) and sometimes when I am playing quake III for example in window mode, and I run any java app (for example 3D visor of an internet soccer game called manager zone) the system freezes up and I must restart the computer.

Well I hope someone can help me

Thank you for your time

Try losing your timings on the memory first, i really don't know what the top end on the 3800 is but most of the other other chips can do no better then 2.6 and i think that you could also try running 1004 this seems to be the best for OC but there are better OC experts out there then me. Many of the OC problems above the 3500 seem to be cpu based more then mobo. The mobo is stable but she is not the best OC in the world.

YES,
I just checked 1004 is still the only offical at this point on the automatic update, you have to have it set to passive and use the .de site the others don't work for some reason.

I am (slowly) building a system around the A8N-SLI Deluxe MB and the last thing on my purchase list is the processor. With the 4000+ San Diego core coming out on the 15th, I have a couple of questions that I hope someone would know the answer to...

1) For a non-O.C. system with four sticks of pair-matched 512MB (2GB total) memory is there any advantage to waiting for the San Diego 4000+ instead of the Clawhammer version?

2) If there is an advantage does the A8N-SLI BIOS support the new version of the 4000+?

Thanks for any information.

Thanks for the reply! At the risk of sounding like the latest newbie, would a Venice 3800+ be a better choice than a Clawhammer 4000+? I'm trying to weigh the extra 1MB of L2 cache in the 4000+ versus the better memory controller in the Venice 3800+ (versus waiting for a San Diego 4000+).

That is the only advantage I can see in waiting for the new cores. Given that I already have two sticks of Corvair and two sticks of Kingston, that may be a big advantage.

Other than the Clawhammer, I don't know when the A8N-SLI Deluxe will support the new processors.

Has anyone received this board recently with updated BIOS already installed? I'm thinking about picking up a Venice chip and I can't find a straight answer on whether or not the mobo will boot without an updated BIOS. I obviously can't update the BIOS if the board doesn't even boot, so if the Venice DOES require updated BIOS then I guess I'll have to bank on the board shipping with an updated BIOS!

According to this link, Abit and EPoX boards won't boot with a Venice chip unless new BIOS versions are already installed.

I might just get a cheap Clawhammer, but I'd be willing to splurge on the Venice if I'll be able to boot with it! (The improved memory controller is huge since I'm going to eventually have 4 sticks of 512!)

Thanks.

Provided you have another suitable system, you can make a boot floppy and put Asus's BIOS flash program on it. This will enable you to update the BIOS if necessary.

Well going back to my inestability problems, I switched to 1004 bios and I tried the newest 1007 004 too.

I just figured out that I am experiencing some kind of "artifact" or something like that when I am playing games, but only in FULL SCREEN MODE. For example, when I play Quake 3, Doom 3, Far Cry, even Half Life 2 in window mode everything seems to be OK, but when I run the games in FULL SCREEN MODE, the screen itself begins to "moves" up and down, like some kind of magnethism (I have a LG 1710 17" 12ms LCD monitor) but I dont think that is the problem. It is something more and I cant understand what the f... is it. This only happens when I use SLI enabled.

I created a q3 server playing with bots for about 8 consecutive hours (one entire night), the dedicated server and a client in full screen mode following one of the bots, and the system worked fine, but when I closed the server and client and I tried to watch "The Incredibles CD1" on bsplayer, I had a bad blue screen with e message "the logon process terminated unexpectly, the system has to shut down"

Well this is new for me, I never had a blue screen with this kind of msg before.

Please I need help

I think there was a discussion earlier in this thread about some people having compatibility issues with certain monitors. There's a new Nvidia driver out. Maybe you want to try that.

I would try both. I.e. wait to buy the audigy until you see if the realtek works for you or not. And BTW, I would not get audigy 1, only audigy 2. But thats up to you. Audigy 2 has better quality sound (from higher quality components) and supports stuff like 96khz sound, 24 bit, etc. Maybe that wont make a differance to a gamer, but last time I checked you could get audigy 2 for a little more than $50.

I was going under the assumption you were going to buy one. Thus I was saying, wait to buy one until you try whats built in and see what its like and if you like it. However if you have bought one already, I guess why not use it. My beef with the audigy 1 was mainly the false advertising Creative did about it (they had a class action lawsuit recently about this, pretty much anyone who bought an audigy 1 can get a coupon on future creative products).

As for using two soundcards at once, yes it is possible. Thats why in the various windows multimedia settings you choose a playback and recording source. I myself have a computer that I sometimes run 2 soundscards in, one is a USB m-audio that has a high quality input, and one is a SB live. Basically you just have to choose the playback soundcard and recording soundcard and go from there.

In your case however, there's probably no need to run both of them at once, if you already own the audigy 1, might as well go with that. I'm sure it has more software that comes with it, and the quality of the sound is surely better than the realtek.

I tried different monitors (samungs 19" CRT, LG LCD 17", Philips CRT 17") and all of them has the same problem, I mea, I think that the "monitor shake" is really really weird, because it only happens in full screen mode. I dont think new 71.89 is the solucion because Ive been tried 10 different version of drivers and all of them has the same problem, maybe swtiching the cards ??

Well If anyone knows something more please let me know

Thank you for your time

Yeah i heard about the lawsuit. Didnt' know it had to do with the Audigy 1's. I wonder if and much I can get for a new card?

I believe it is a driver problem from Nivida, I have the same problem with my dual XFX6600 cards I have tried drivers and I contacted Asus with this problem and I will see what they say. I even wiped everything clean and started all over with a fresh install the second time to see if that would solve the problem.
