I'm also running that PC at stock speeds (no overclocking) so the voltage usage is at the minimum I could possibly make it without cutting case fans.

I'm forcing 1T and DDR400 on the memory but leaving everything else in the memory section to auto. More importantly for you I'm forcing the PCI clock to 33.3 even though I'm not overclocking.

There is a section of the bios called Jumper free configuration. I set the overlock profile to manual, the PCI clock Sync to 33.33Mhz. I should probably think to take my digital camera over there and take pics of the BIOS settings one of these days.

I have taken a list of suggested settings from two other sites and merged their recommendations with my needs and made my own list of settings. I have a print out by the computer, but it is at my dads house. I'll probably upgrade one of the PCs in my apt to a A8N-SLI later after the new CPUs come out next month (with hopes of a coresponding price decrease).

The more I think about it, the more I think even an expensive 400w PS is a bare minimum for this MB. I paid almost $90 for that PS and I'm now wanting an even more expensive PS.

Thanks for the tip on manually setting the PCI clock. I'll try that once my new board comes. I would love it if you could write down all the settings of your bios since you have a known working config :)

As for Jag's, I personally don't like them, but I have 1 friend who has one and thinks it's the best car she has ever owned - go figure!

I am sorry if I came off that way I was a little tired and had just worked thru a shift with some heavy snowfall and high profile suicde that made national news which made my job very irratating. Something that would be helpful though is list what componets are not working for us in general would make a cool sticky to have posts of items that are know working at stock specs etc, might save some people alot of time.

I'm not using the tuner card you have but I can vouch for the Seasonic Super Tornado 400W being sufficient for a 3000+ CPU, 6600 vid, 2x CD, 5 80mm case fans, etcetera. Under full load it gets into the 11.8x range on the +12V rail. Not anything to brag about but definately within Spec. It ran at 12.00 on the +12V rail when I had a lesser Athlon XP SDRAM MB in the system.

I'm guessing that ASUS support is tired of dealing with cheap PS issues and is upping the verbal spec to compensate for people trying to scrape the bottom of the physical requirements.

Before I up this system to an SLI setup I'm going to most likely purchase a Seasonic S12 that has 30-36v on the +12v rails (S12 is dual rail) but assuming you are still above 11.80 on the +12v under load I wouldn't be looking at the PS as the prime suspect.

Please also consider that many of the BIOS updates for this board have changed the resume behaviour. It was changed again in the 1006 release BIOS and that might help your issue.

Thansk for the info.. I have the motherboard sent out for RMA so i shoudl get a replacement next week sometime. From what I recall, I was getting 11.75V on the 12V rail.. is that sufficient? This is what the bios is reporting. But again, I'll have to put the system back together to be sure.

Since you are running way more components that I am, but are getting 11.8V, is this a quality issue with this power supply? in other words, would a replacement give me more Voltage on the 12v rail?

I have similiar(at least load wise) setup I get 11.77(with auto OC) or 11.84 depending on the mode I am in 11.84(c&q) if you do get a new power supply I would recomend something with active power factor correction this should take care of the outside fan load(inductors). It works almost flawlessly on my system and takes a second or to to compensate when I wind of the all the fans to full power. I hope this is resolved becuase my next purchase was going to be a tuner card, and if i may ask were you using both cards on the PCI-e and are they 6600's or 6800's and were did you fit the tuner card?

I have a PC Power and Cooling 510 SLI PSU and my 12v rail is stable as you like, but it seems to be set at 11.77v. Doesn't seem to be causing me any problems but I would like to turn it up a little, from what I understand the pots arent easy to get to when its installed...

The adjustment pots are really hard to get to on the PC P&C power supply. In most cases impossible to get to when installed. Even outside the case it usually requires that the power supply cover be removed. Seems that the pots and the access holes don't line up very well, and I wouldn't attempt to adjust the pots without a non-conductive adjustment tool. Way too easy to get a real eye-opener!! I also wouldn't recommend opening any power supply case without really knowing what you are doing!

The pots are real easy to adjust with the cover removed, just make sure that you know what you are doing and don't make adjustments without a quality DVM.

My system is running a dual 6800 ultra's and the 12v rail in a stable 11.77v with no problems. In a couple systems what I did was remove the power supply cover and open the access holes up enough to give me access. Before you go through this hastle that you can acces the bottom of the power supply while in the case. Lots of cases have a solid power supply base. If you want to access them you would have to create an access hole in the case.

Do that "SATA Extension module for external devices" -accessory come only with A8N-SLI Deluxe?

Or do it come also with A8N-SLI?

To those like me who have had problems with large LCD monitors. I have solved my initial problem, at least at the moment. I am only using a single LCD solution so it's not an issue losing dvi #1 on my XFX 6800U dual DVI, but plugging the DVI into port 2 rather than port 1 has solved the 'unable to display this mode' problem on initial boot up.

I am gald you figured it out, odd that port 2 would work better then port one. That card does not have VGA output on right?

That's right, dual DVI only. Although if necessary I could use VGA with the adaptors that came with the cards.

I just hope it stays working this well.

At present, for the first time since building this machine it all works fine!

Did you find that information from ASUS USA web site?

I have looked before A8N-SLI's and A8N-SLI Deluxe's accessories information from ASUS Global web site, but there weren't any mention about that accessorie, not even with Deluxe.

Ok today i've received my second Dell 6800gto..so now i can do some light on this :D

First of all a little explanation.Dell 6800GTO is a SLI COMPATIBLE card with a sli connector.Frequency are 350 for the Gpu and 900 for the DDR3 ram.It has 15/5 pipeline.

I've put both the card in the asus a8n-sli deluxe.Setted the sli connector on the mother board on "dual card". Connected the 2 card with the sli-bridge by asus. Installed bios 1007.2.Enebled sli in bios. Installed winxp sp2.Installed nv unified driver 6.39 (not installed the audio driver).Installed XG forceware 75.90. Launched rivetuner and unlock 16/6 pipe.Lukily i don't have any artifacts. To be sincere i don't know if rivatuner unlocked both the card or just one...got to check (even if i think i'm going to flash a new bios with 16/6 on the card).Enabled sli option in the nvidia control panel (anyway when you turn pc on it says you that a sli conf is availabe and if you want to turn it on).Launched 3d mark 05. It looks ok for a moment then it gives me artifacts and then the pc freeze.Had to turn off main power.Tryed the same for 7 times. Then i suspected something wrong with cooling or power supply. My supposition were right.Cooling was ok.THe power supply was my problem. So i've changed my old shi**y qtec 500w with a new enermax noisetaker 600w. Result after power supply change: run 3dmark 05 and everything goes all right. No artifacts. Then launched 3dmark 05 in loop. After 2 hours it was still ok.Now 3d mark is still in loop but i'm at work...so when i'll be back home i'll see if everything still works ok (after 12 hours of tests) but i think there will be no problem.

So...now and for always...Dell 6800gto are sli-compatible without any problems (or if there are problem..is the man not the card :D).

On the OC hands...i've tryed just in single card configuration and i've reached 430/1180 rock solid with the standard cooler but with a 8*8 fan on the left panel of the case (chieftech mesh).

Are the extra LANs, SATAs, and IDEs the only advantage the Deluxe has over the regular?

I think the big difference is the dual raid offering... with RAID 5 ... along with the extra cables/ports u mentions... Also may be some extra software thrown in ... WINDVD suite ?

What is the best Bios out for Oc'ing the Asus A8n-SLI ? I am currently running Bios Ver 1002 w/ the athlon 64 3000+ @ 225x9 = 2.0gighz w/ 4x512mb OCZ Platinum EL PC3200 w/ 2336 - 1t timings.

Whenever i reboot i have to go in and reset the FSB again because it underclocks the cpu evrythime...and also i can't get the Vcore to stick @ 1.55

I will be updating my Bios today so any quik reccomendations on the Bios would help alot .

Thanks for all your help guys

This thread has helped me in so many ways....

Hello,

I recently built a new computer system with the following specs:

ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe Mobo Bios Rev. 1006
BFG 6800 ULTRA OC Pci-Express Graphics Card
1-Gig of Corsair Twinx1024-3200xlpro Memory
500Watt Mad Dog Power Supply
LiteOn DVD Combo Drive
74 Gig Western Digital Raptor Drive (SATA) 10,000 RPM
2x300Gig Maxtor Ultra/16 Drives raided together by a software raid.
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum
XP-120 CPU Heatsink and Panaflo 120mm Fan.
All of this is powered through a Back-Up APC UPS

Recently, I have been have a problem arise. I power down my system when it isn't in use. When I power my system back up. My CMOS resets itself causing my system not to boot until I go readjust the settings since my OS is on the RAID Drive. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what might be causing this and have any solutions as to how I might fix the problem?
