Hey bap4201,

How is that OCZ PowerStream 520W PSU working out for you?

What did you pay and where did you buy?

Any help would be great!!

Thanks.

Paid $140 @ newegg ! Works great. I really like being able to adjust the rails! I don't like the lighted color of the psus fan, it is green and my case is black/blue. You cannot change it as far as I know, unless you open the psu, thus voiding the warranty!

Other than that, EXCELLENT investment!

hey just ordered from chumbo 2 BFG 6800GT OC PCI-E boards! They say they are in stock! I'm hoping so!! comes w/ free overnight delivery1

Bap,
Thanks a shit-load!!! 2 on order!!! 🙂
I had called BFG just last week asking about this card... they were suspiciously tight-lipped about it's release date. ;-)

Hey gobucks,

I see in your signature you're using a maxtor diamondmax 10 and the nforce 4 board. Are you running the hard drive in NCQ mode (native command queing)? Just curious, I have the 250 gb diamondmax 10 and will be getting the asus board soon.

Thanks

Holy Shxt, exdeath!!! WAY TO GO!!! Excellent Bench!! Hey, can you answer me a couple of questions:

1) Why is the koolance running through side of case? Are you going to leave door off?

2) I too have the FX-55, could you PLEASE tell me the exact specs you used to overclock to 3.0ghz?

Thanks SO much!! and...ENJOY YOUR BOARD!!

Bap4201:

The cooling system is running through the side because in order to relocate the cooling tubes the fittings have to come off one end of the hose, the ends with the quick connect fittings don't fit through the card slots.

I was in a hurry to get the system up and running so I didn't bother putting it back in a slot and I don't know if the tubing I have left is enough to go all the way down under the cards and back up to the CPU. There is enough distance wise, but it would have to rest over the edges of the video cards and kink.

I plan to add a nf4 and 6800 water blocks and an internal radiator to compliment the Exos for the added heat, so it didn't make since to bother cutting more tubing and making anything too permenant. Unfortunately it will have to wait as the Innovatek blocks don't even fit the PCIe cards thanks to a 'misplaced' capacitor!!!!:disgust:

As far as the CPU, I'm just running 15x200 at 1.6v on the MSI board but I seem to be able to get away with 1.5125 on the Asus board and it runs about 2 C hotter which tells me the Asus power supply is much more beefy. Ram is all set to Auto and 1T for 2-2-2-5-1T

From what I gather, the FX-55 needs to be able to run at 2.8 at stock voltages to be able to expect it to do 3.0 at all. I got bluescreens and prime95 errors on the stock heatsink at 3.0 no matter the voltage and it ran 70C core, now its running 51C max load with no problems thanks to the Exos

How much of your XP-120 protrudes out from the mobo? Lian-li V1000 with its 3 sectioned nature has the psu compartment that it too high and that could cause problems.

Could you post some pictures? :camera:

Thanks!

Sorry, no camera, but none of the heatsink stuck below the board when I dry fitted it. Won't get to put it together for a while. Sent PM.

I find the Asus SLI or any of the Nforce4 mobo too expensive at the moment. In my country Australia, you can pay around $400 AUS for the Asus. Which is roughly US$305.

Has anyone else used this board and tried to make a backup DVD with DVDShrink? I get blocky errors in the playback (that I didn't bet before on my Nforce2 with TBred B system). I'm using the exact same software and exact same encoding options????

Can install a system with this board without a floppy drive? I'm using an IDE drive if that matters. I didn't really want to put a floppy w/ my system. I don't really have a need for it. Thanks.

You don't happen to be using a 40 pin IDE cable from the old Nforce 2 machine are you?

Also, a faster machine will be more tempermental to timing. Are you using the latest firmware for your burner? Available at:

How about your version of DVD Shrink?

Zipzoomfly.com was showing the A8N-SLI on backorder for $259; now that they got them they've raised the price! I called some internet shops that are showing the Asus on back-order and everyone is expecting them in by the first week of January. My guess is if you can wait two weeks you'll be able to get it for $200.

Keep us posted and let us know if/when this ships. Good to see they are in the retail channel. Hopefully we will see more soon. I would really love to see the Ultra start shipping. 🙂

I ordered mine on the 21st. It shipped out that day. It arrives today via FEDEX.

It sure would be nice if I had a board to put it on. I just cant seem to get my hands on an A8N. 🙁

UPDATE:
