I am sort of new at this and I was wondering if someone could please answer a PSU question for me as well? I have ordered the A8N-SLI and I will just be running one 6600 GT to start (and it will stay this way for at least 6 months). My current PSU came with my case. It is a cooler master 350 rated at 16 A. I know that the manual quotes 17 A for the 2 6600GT setup. Do you think what I have will work for now? Even though I only have 1 6600GT, I do plan on doing a bit of an OC on my AMD 3200+ 90mm. Please help. I will also be running 2 optical drives, 1 SATA HD, 1 IEDE HD and two PCI cards.

Also, if I do have to get a new PSU, is Coolmax an okay brand? I was looking at the COOLMAX 500W Taurus CX Series on Newegg it says 28A at like 473W (a little hard for me to believe). Also, from the pics, it looks like this PSU is 20 pin, but comes with a 20 pin to 24 adapter???

Thanks!:)

I cant say anything about Coolmax since Ive never used them (or even heard of them), what I can say however is to never ever ever ever skimp on power supplies. Its kinda like putting watered down generic gas in a ferrari.

Also most power supplies dont come with an adaptor unless its to downsize a 24 pin supply to a 20 pin.

I have my A8N-SLI running since Monday, and it seems to be running stable. I had some issues with crashes at first, but that was due to a faulty Ethernet driver. I updated it, and haven't had the problem come back.

Since PSUs seem to be the topic of the day, you should know that I run this on a Antec True380S with a 20-pin connector. I just had to shift the connector all the way to the right.

Hi guys I just built my sli machine (using the ASUS Sli Deluxe), and I am using 2 eVGA 6800GT cards, everything seems to be ok but I notice when I shutdown my computer it hangs on the windows shutdown screen, can't move the mouse just stays on the shutdown screen. I have to manually hold the power button down to shut it off. This does not happen all the time some time it will shutdown properly I have tried all the shutdown patch and have updated Xp to service pak2. I think it could be the drivers for the chipset not being certified yet, if any of you have any info on how to fix this I would appreciate, thanks!

I have 2x EVGA 6800GT cards as well as an FX-55 waiting for an Asus SLI board to call home. I bought the EVGA cards in mid November from 2 auctions on Ebay at $450.00 no tax each.

I also have been using a 20 pin PSU (Enermax Whisper Quiet 380watts, soon to be replaced with 20 pin Thermaltake 480watt). I have it shifted to the right (leaving the 4 left-most pins barren) and have had no power problems to speak of. I have the 12v 4 pin cable connected, but not the additional molex for the graphics cards. I only am using one Geforce 6600GT at present.

Hmmm. I see the bidding is currently at $710. for a 6800 Ultra on eBay with five days to go.
Wish I was looking back in November.

I've been waiting for this board forever too...

I stuck by my old system for the longest time. First it was to wait for the NForce 250 chipset, then waited again for PCI-E.

I plan on trying out a 'cheap' setup and seeing how it works. E-Power/Tagan 450watt PS with 28 on the 12V rail for 45 dollars, and the Patriot PC3200 2-2-2-5 ram.

Once retailed priced are in the normal range I'll pick one up, hopefully within the next week or two.

I did get a notice that my board is shipped, it will arrive monday or tuesday.
Counting down ...

Question to the ones that already have this board, on NF3 you could not boot from the second IDE, is this stil so under NF4?

Then I thought maybe there is a reason the board came set to "Dual Graphics", so I reveresed the selector and bingo it will now post. Is this a bios issue? Or will this board only work in SLI mode?

Just an idea for those with the SLI selector problem. Did you try the card in the slot furthers form the cpu? Other non-sli boards have the x16 slot to the left of a couple of x1 slots so that might be the problem. I dunno, just a thought, maybe someone already said that. The second slot is labeled x16_2 in the manual but you never know...

I am sorry if this has been asked before or has an obvious answer to some but does it matter which IDE slot on the motherboard I use (primary/secondary) for my 40-wire IDE cable with a DVD burner and rom hooked up to it? Also ASUS sent a 40-pin IDE cable that isn't color cordinated so is there any order that I should plug my optical drives in...like how there's an order for the 80-wire cable? Thanks.

I must admit I've been lurking, like many others, and never posting, simply because we do not have a nforce4 motherboard yet. That will soon change, after Christmas.

I have but two questions. Can anyone recommend a low CL, 1GB DIMM that a user used (and is STABLE) on their Asus motherboard?

My second question is regarding NewEgg. Has anyone, asside from the other person on this thread, noticed that NEWEGG doesn't have this board listed? They are usually one of the first to get/sell products and furthermore they are a huge vendor. I'm just wondering what gives? I'd like to buy from them, since other vendors are price gouging and they are somewhat trustworthy.

It's irritating to wait for two months, only to end up waiting for 3 months, instead. Finally, thanks, in advance, for the replies.

I'm going to try the 120 on mine, when I can put it together, let ya know then.
Also-thanks for the info from all you members who are posting their results, keep it going.

Does anyone know if the Antec neopower can connect TWO PCI-E cards?

Also, is there any performance change for different ram brands if the are all DDR400/3200?

Thanks,

Scott
