Don't think you need an adapter. the four pins closest to the graphics card(s) are extra leads for the three power rails and a ground. You can leave them open as seen in the link below (as long as you plug a 4 pin molex into the EZplug when in SLI mode)

HiroProt found this for us (Thanks again)

*edit*
Just to verify I matched the pin assignments from my antec PS manual and A8N manual.

The top twenty (nearest the top of a tower case) match perfectly.
The pins left open on the EATX connector are extra leads for the 3 power rails and a ground.

pin11 = +12v
pin12 = +3v
pin23 = +5v
pin24 = ground

whew... that's a relief! Now i just have to decide if it's worth an extra $40 to just go with the Vantec 520W 24-pin PSU and never have to worry about it, rather than the $60 Thermaltake 480W 20-pin one and risk having to go out and buy a new one in the future. What are all you guys doing for this?

That, and the cooling, of course. I still want that Zalman 7700-AlCu, but until i can get my hands on the board and measure it out, or have zalman tell me it's okay, i'm sure as hell not gonna shell out the cash for it

Well, not that its as good as MSRP, but UnitedMicro.com is selling the Asus A8N-SLI DELUXE, selling not back ordering, for $213 plus $13 UPS shipping. I'll have to call them in the morning to see if they've sent it out!

Better than $450 at PB Tech ( even in New Zealand dollars ).

It seems that the ATI cards have been found to perform very poorly when combined with the
A8N-SLI Deluxe. The review in question can be found here at Hot Hardware:

http://www.hothardware.com/vie...icle.cfm?articleid=612

I've cut and pasted the relevant part of the review below:

"Early on in our testing, it became very obvious to us that our ATI Radeon
cards were at a considerable disadvantage running in the nForce4-driven
ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe board.

The ATi/nForce4 combination disadvantage was so pronounced over what we had
seen in testing with ATi cards on other platforms that we felt it wouldn't
even be close to a fair comparison of graphics subsystem performance."

Have any other reviews offered this same viewpoint? It must be quite a noticable performance problem if they felt it was necessary to run the ATI card on an ATI reference board in order to even the score....

any opinions on this?

i read at PC Perspective (i think) that there were bios issues when many of the first boards were reviewed. Apparently version 1.02 of the bios fixes numerous problems, this being one of them.

I actually managed to snag an A8N-SLI Deluxe from monarchcomputer.com before they mysteriously went out of stock, and raised the price to $325. Now you can get the board from monarch for $315 but it's gotta be part of a system build. I think I litterally bought the last SLI from them. Sucks though, I gotta wait for christmas when I get my X800 PRO before I can build my system, and my board is arriving today. I am at danger of fondeling the board to death before I get a chance to use it.

Asus A8N-SLI DELUXE SC939 nVIDIA nFORCE4 SLI Chipset DDR400 SATA Raid GBt Lan Audio ATX (ET12/18/04) Called them to try and order a second one since my local dealer can't get another one since his shipment is on the way said they will not have them to that date on the 18th checked the web and said the same thing so it's all backordered.

Yep; just off the phone with a human being at UnitedMicro. They now say they won't have the boards til next week. Hunted around their website for the statement about date. The listing has been changed to reflect 'due date' of 12/18/2004 and oh yeah, the price is up to $239.00!

I suppose I could cancel my $213 order, but since I can't find the board anywhere else, even at $300+, until next week, I might as well wait it out.

Would you care to tell me why the hell you bought an SLI motherboard if you are installing an X800 Pro? What a waste of money.

ATI will eventually have SLI as well, so the mobo isn't that much of a waste... (Just a few buck because of "newness" factor.)

My board is getting here on Monday, and I want to be able to install Windows XP on it right away. Now, the only HD that I have is SATA. I understand that I need to get the drivers for that onto a floppy for the Windows setup process. Just looked at the files that Asus has available on their site, and I'm wondering which one is the right one? Do I want the nVidia RAID drivers?

Or does this board have some kind of way to "mask" that it's an SATA drive an show it to Windows as a IDE drive? My dilemma is that I don't have a second computer with a floppy drive, so I am thinking that I could install Linux, make the floppy from there, and then install WinXP (unless the floppy making process is in an EXE file). Any thoughts or suggestions?

Maybe it's worded wrong but the impression I got was... you have two computers and one floppy drive... If that's the case then I see no problem (just interchange the drive between systems). Of course, it can't be that easy if your asking.... I'm going to guess the second computer is a laptop! lol

Are you making a RAID? If not, I don't think you need a floppy for it to recognize as a regular drive. (I can't say for sure because my first SATA experience comes on Monday as well :))

Bingo, the second one is a laptop, AND is a Mac :) So that won't work.

I'm not making a RAID (have only one drive), but I am pretty sure that you need to have a driver floppy for WinXP installs onto an SATA drive because WinXP does not recognize the HD otherwise.

Good to know. I've had a Raptor collecting dust for over a month waiting on this system. monday.. Monday... MONDAY! It can't come soon enough for me.... While I don't complete the system, I do get the motherboard install and plan on reading the manual a few times waiting on one PCIe 6800GT.

I have an FX-55 and 2 eVGA 6800GT PCI-Express cards sitting under my table right now. Can't wait to get this board so I can put them to use.

I've been monitoring this thread for days, and this is my first official post! Hello everyone. I just ordered an A8N-SLI from gamepc.com. They charged my $288 before shipping. Before ordering I contacted them and they let me know that they were in fact in stock, and that it would ship today if I ordered in the next couple of hours. I know that I let them overcharge me, but I've had everything sitting in a corner for over a month now waiting to be built. Well, everything except the motherboard! I was going to wait for zipzoomfly to recieve their stock, but I noticed they raised their price to $259 anyway. I guess the time I save "not" obsessing in front of my computer searching for this board will be worth the bit of extra cash. ;)
