Probably a dumb question due to how much information is known but any guesses on whether or not the Thermalright XP-120/XP-90 will fit?

I am waiting for this board as well. I have an AMD FX-55 and 2x EVGA 6800 GT PCI Express cards waiting for a home.

Ouch tretneo I feel ya. Nearly 2k bucks worth of hardware and no way to use it.

Anyway I hear mid-dec but nothing is right these days.

Um where the hell did you get those 6800 GT PCI Express cards? I haven't seen them in stock anywhere yet. And how much did they run you?

I'd like to make a suggestion, information that you can share would be appreciated by all of us interested in this set-up and we all know that "good" information at the moment is scarce. It seems there are a few questions most of us have concerning this board...
1). PSU requirements.
2). Availability.
3). Price.
4). PCI-E Video cards/price/availability.

Prices are pretty high...
Just don't be disappointed when you end up waiting3-4 weeks to get your board, the longer you end up waiting for your board, the bigger the chance for disappointment. It seems that anticipation drives expectation which increases the chance of disappointment...go figure.

Do you people think there will be any use for PCIe 2X, 4X,or 8X ?
I mean all the current and soon-to-come PCIe-boards offer only PCIe 1x for cards other than graphics.

EDIT: let's talk about next 2-3 years

$276?!?! Yea right!!! That better be a joke. In Anandtech's review, they said the boards should be around $180. No way I'm paying $276 for a motherboard.

I'm not suprised at all. Until there is competition, they are just trying to get extra cash out of the suckers who HAVE to have it now. Once companies like monarch, zipzoomfly, and newegg all have them, expect prices to go down to about $180-200.

I would think the XP-90 would fit. If anyone knows about XP-120 compatability in a V-1200 please let me know!

Id like to know about xp-120 too. Just pre ordered mine from www.komplett.co.uk for £85 along with a msi 6800gt pci-e for £219. Couldn't belive how cheap there selling them for.

I got intrigued by your post and went straight to www.komplett.co.uk to check how it can be.
Only 6800 GT PCI-Express they have is XFX for 310 pounds.
Accidently Gainward 6600 GT PCI-E costs exactly 219 pounds.
So i guess there are no miracles after all..:eek:

$276 bucks is high...I think I said that didn't I ? I didn't post that link as if I thought it was a place to order it for $276, but rather as a link to let people know that vendors are getting ready to soon see it on their shelves. The link I gave is to a company(NCIX) which has very good customer service, so if you HAVE TO HAVE IT NOW (which is still only pre-order) they're a decent company. Anyhow I wouldn't buy the first batch of nForce 4 boards, you know there is going to be tweaks done to it over the next 60 days after its release. Buying the cutting edge isn't cheap, my recommendation would be to wait for ATI to release their AMD chipset. You'll probably start seeing ATI/AMD boards early 2005 (if they can get manufactures to give them a shot), by which time the nForce4 boards will be extremely competitve, by waiting this will also give you some real world reviews of the different vendors offerings of the nForce4 boards. You'll be much more the informed consumer at that time and be able to get the best board for your money, you'll also know what psu,mem,video card and cpu, cooling setup performs/works best with this board. All the first look reviews can say what they think the price will be all they want, however it is only an ESTIMATE. I would guesstimate that the Deluxe is going to cost you (next 60 days) $230 USD. Try not to get caught up in all the hype, let the dust settle and buy the board that will make you happy, not disappointed.

Hmm, indeed its 6800 GT according to msi home page but komplett lists it as simple 6800
with a same price as 6600 GT. Very strange considering how wanted 6800 GT's are right now.

Let's get down to the nitty gritty. Sorry a discussion about price is boring. What I want to know is the real specs about this board. How much vDimm will this board allow the user to set? Max vDimm can handle with ocz booster? And I wish someone would answer the xp-120 compatibility question. Sli is great but I want the cake and eat it too. If the board can't OC like a bat out of hell it won't get my $200 bucks!

Will you be able to use the PCIe x1 slots next to the x16 slots when you have two video cards in there?

Would suck if not.

Well, if you have a video card with a two-slot design, then there's no way you'll be able to use both. You could probably use the one on the left, but then you have to think about whether you want to sandwich a card between two video cards that generate enough heat to require the two-slot design.

You may want to wait for the release of the DFI nForce4 before buying...DFI seems to be cattering to the OCing segment of the market, they have the most flexible voltage tweaks out there. I heard a few ppl talking about how decent the voltage adjustments are on the DFI nForce4 boards, check out their specs. I would imagine with 2 video cards in place there wouldn't be a problem with using the other x1 slots, however stranger things have happened. I would be a little more concerned about heat issues with 2 cards running, but from what I've read heat shouldn't be too much of an issue, again this is another reason to wait a bit and let the dust settle. NewEgg emailed me and said they expect the A8N-SLI Deluxe to hit their stores by mid December, if this holds true wait until mid January to buy as by then most of the nForc4 boards by the different manufacturers should be on the shelves and prices will be competitive, not to mention alot of issues rectified.

How are we suppose to check the specs on the DFI Nforce4 since it's not released yet? I was wondering about the vDimm on the asus since Anandtech actually has a board in their hands? The one thing nice about the asus is the generous spacing in their sli setup.
