Just got back driving around downtown Chicago. LSD is blocked off right after the 55 exit. There were so many CPD officers out and about, all with riot gear. It was pretty cool! I only saw a few actual protesters, though. I saw a couple of guys walking on Michigan carrying huge US flags, though.

Large group of protestors outside the Federal building in Westwood. Blocking traffic, preventing me from driving to West LA to watch the Laker game and drink beer. Fskers. :|

YOU ARE PROTESTING IN FRONT OF A BUILDING THAT HANDLES SOCIAL SECURITY. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE WAR. PLEASE PUT DOWN YOUR PLACARDS AND GO HOME. THANK YOU.

Stupid @ss protesters. WTF is up with blocking intersections. There was a whole bunch of students protesting the war today at UIUC, blocking buses and cars. Hello? I thought the whole point of protesting was to gain support, not to FREAKING PISS OFF other students who need to use public transportation to get to class. Wow, you made a big sign with lots of bad words, maybe next year you can learn how to write a freaking letter to your congressman. And there are the ones who bug you in class. Are you going to the protest? Are you going to the protest? NO you dumb bi@tch, I'm paying 12000 a year to learn, not to support a dictator. The sad thing is that I was against the war too, but now after seeing the stupidity of these anti-war folks, I beginning to switch over.

08:41 PST -- In a unique form of opposition, some protesters at the Federal Building staged a "vomit in,'' by heaving on the sidewalks and plaza areas in the back and front of the building to show that the war in Iraq made them sick, according to a spokesman

Lake Shore Drive in Chicago is now shutdown due to anti-war protests.
I just saw some video of that on TV. Man, I would be so pissed if I was coming home after a long day at work and a bunch of blowhards pulled a stunt like that. :|

There's only a huge Naval training base not too far north of there.

Seems that would be a more likely target of protests.

Maybe a gust of wind will blow them into the lake.

Has any one of these rallies even offered up any kind of semblance of an alternative solution to removing Saddam?

Nothing that I've seen, just the usual no war for oil stupidity that's the favorite catch phrase. Don't get me wrong, I'm not some war crazy lunatic that wants everyone dead. War should be the very last option. Go through all the proper channels first, and if you're not getting anywhere then unfortunately, force is necessary. There's only so much talking and sanctions will do when you have a dictator that won't comply or countries that will veto regardless of if there's proof on contraband.

Have You Forgotten?
(Darryl Worley/Wynn Varble)
I hear people saying we don't need this war
I say there's some things worth fighting for
What about our freedom and this piece of ground
We didn't get to keep 'em by backing down
They say we don't realize the mess we're getting in
Before you start your preaching let me ask you this my friend
Have you forgotten how it felt that day?
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside going thru a living hell
And you say we shouldn't worry 'bout bin Laden
Have you forgotten?
They took all the footage off my T.V.
Said it's too disturbing for you and me
It'll just breed anger that's what the experts say
If it was up to me I'd show it everyday
Some say this country's just out looking for a fight
After 9/11 man I'd have to say that's right
Have you forgotten how it felt that day?
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside going thru a living hell
And you say we shouldn't worry 'bout bin Laden
Have you forgotten?
I've been there with the soldiers
Who've gone away to war
And you can bet that they remember
Just what they're fighting for
Have you forgotten how it felt that day?
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside going thru a living hell
And you say we shouldn't worry 'bout bin Laden
Have you forgotten?
Have you forgotten all the people killed?
Some went down like heros in that Pennsylvania field
Have you forgotten about our Pentagon?
All the loved ones that we lost and those left to carry on
Don't you tell me not to worry about bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

Have you forgotten?
Have you forgotten?

we are on a high terrorist alert. We need every police officer to be watching out for terror attacks. Now these protesters want to riot the streets of sf and chicago......IDIOTS. They are asking for a terrorist attack. A big group of people in a big urban city. MORONS.

Funny how anti-violence protests do nothing but jar up and stir emotions resulting in some pissed off people.

Hence accomplishing the exact opposite of what a protest is supposed to do. Just proving even further that most of these people are nothing buy wanna-be hippie teens who think it's cool to protest, so they do.

So do protestors ever stop to think about the fact that preventing a bunch of tired motorists from getting home to see their families is probably *NOT* the best way to endear yourselves (and your cause) to anyone who may be on the fence about this issue?? Apparently not.

Why can't these protestors be cited for disrupting the peace? If a lot of people complain about their blocking traffic, etc... can't they be forced to dispearse? They are taking the definition of peaceful assembly a bit too far in completely disrupting the city's operations.

So with no evacuation

I checked out the protesting in San Fran after work. I pretty much had to walk past them to get on the train.

They are doing good work. There is plenty of literature if you care to read in depth what they have to say. They seem to be getting the message out to the government. I took a bunch of great pictures.

I love all the people in this thread that wish them harm, because Lord knows there's nothing more American than beating down the people who don't agree with you.

In fact I think that is the definition of Liberty.

If they're breaking the law, they will be arrested.
If they're not breaking the law, they're excercising their liberties as defined by the Constitution.

Is it that hard to understand.
