You know I've always liked Simon. It's almost scary that he can read my mind. He's tough on idiots/circus acts/no-talents, but holds no reservation when sees talent.

Simon is the show. It will be useless without him. He's always fucking right, which is funny.

Yes, there's a renewed focus on contestants' backstory. Idol producers interviewed viewers and found people really wanted someone they could root for, with a compelling story basically. So we're getting more 'sob stories' this season.
 
I was VERY impressed. When he came out and said what he was going to do, both my wife and I thought it was going to be a huge mistake, but he blew it away. He's my odds on favorite at this point. I know it's early, but he really impressed with it.
 
It kinda irritated me that they compared him to Lambert when this was clearly a David Cook move.

I always thought Lambert's 'remakes' were disasters.
 
I'm guessing the guy who covered her song didn't realize Paula was no longer a judge.
He probably chose it because he thought it would ingratiate him with a judge.
 
I think this was the worst pre-24 season yet. Not sure if simon's gone mellow since he's already half way out the door or if they are just intentionally editing that stuff out, but the show has pretty much sucked so far.

Was somewhat interesting that they didn't edit out that black guy from tampa that they dumped after his down released his name as a finalist.
 
Worst top 12 girls ever. Didn't think any of them were good tonight. Only one who was even worth considering going forward is Crystal Bowersox.
