I like him. Comes off genuine and can sing.

You know I've always liked Simon. It's almost scary that he can read my mind. He's tough on idiots/circus acts/no-talents, but holds no reservation when sees talent.

If I remember correctly, singing uses a different part of the brain than talking. Explains why some have no accent when they sing. Might explain why his Tourette's is turned off too.

I know that sounded so cynical but they have drained my empathy... I need a few minutes to replenish it.

Is it me, or is this year's auditions a LOT more sob stories/back stories, and a lot less of just...auditions? I think there's maybe 4 or 5 real auditions where the person is introduced, they sing, they're reviewed, they leave, in the entire 1 hour program. I dislike this.

Noticed it too. Getting really annoying as you know if there's a sob story they're through, if there's a "I'm a goofball" intro they're a joke audition. No use in even watching the audition part.

Gonna watch at 11. Hockey game's on now. Melissa Doolittle tweeted she's really surprised at the idea of Howard Stern being a judge.

Wow, that guy singing Straight Up unplugged was really good.

That was good. Probably the most memorable performance, along with what's her name that sang last with "You Make Me Feel(Like a Natural Woman.)" Seriously, gutsy to sing that song because it was one of Kelly's signature songs from her season.

Ellen was allright as a judge. I'll wait until the top 12 when we can hear more from her.

latino dude doing paula abdul was fucking....sick. yeah. I hate that I ever said such a thing, but that was pretty damn cool to see.

other top contenders:
--final girl, jamming a bit on the guitar
--white-haired girl with twitty voice. something odd, could be cool about it. weird.

yeah, that's the girl I meant for 2nd best performance. Easy.

I thought Ellen was great, though. She's always damn funny and snarky. lots of homophobes might start realize she's funny, now that she's on mass display. D:
