Tomorrow's elimination show should be a good one. The homecoming elimination episode rarely disappoints. Lee DeWyze should be safe. I think Casey James will be going home after his sub-par performances tonight, but who knows.

Never underestimate the voting power of under-aged girls when it comes to cute guys. It will probably be Crystal who goes home, despite being the best musician this season.

I haven't watched Idol much but I caught a little bit last night. Lee did an awesome job singing Hallelujah. Crystal was good. And the guy with the long hair sucked.

go home Casey!

I've been a fan of Casey for a while now, but I agree that his time has come. He's not in the same league as the other two and certainly hasn't put it all out there like Crystal and esp. Lee have over the past few weeks.

Has anyone bought Lee's performance of Hallelujah off of iTunes? I'm wondering if the studio version is worth getting. The live version was the best performance of the season.

Lee kicked ass. I actually thought Crystal was really, really weak. Flat on the Ethridge song, and then looked uncomfortable and a bit out-of-control on the Beatles tune.

Casey wasn't as good....but I wouldn't be shocked if Crystal is voted off.

The consensus is that AI voting is ruled by older women, not younger girls. The 40-year-old southern and mid-western housewife is the power demographic.

Explains Crystal then. Maybe she'll win?

No, they're jealous of Crystal 😛. I think Lee will win.

I really think that it's so close between the two that I think it will come down to their performances next week. If it's a draw, then I still have to give the nod to Lee. American Idol voters seem to like the artists who grow throughout the season rather than the ones who are good from the beginning and yet don't improve much (if at all) during the season.

Crystal killed it tonight.

Either way they're both good IMO.

I kind of feel like it's probably better to get 2nd place in this show just due to all the things they're bound to for a year after winning.

While to me it's been clear for a very long time that Lee and Crystal were the best this season had to offer, I can't help but feel that overall it's not the pool of talent it's been before, even though this is the only time I've watched this show from start to finish...

Crystal's got it. Hopefully now she'll get some marilyn bridges or implants to fill in where those upper cuspids should be. Braces/invisalign would work tooooo 😀

They totally screwed Lee over on the third song.

A U2 song? REALLY? Have you not been listening to Lee all season?!

AUUGH.

god damn it mosh...leave it to you to bring dentistry into a singer's life. as if it matters...
😀

anyhoo; Crystal was sick tonight. Lee was someone else. his vocals were tight for the first 2, but flat performance. U2 crap song was dirt crap for him. holy hell...I've never seen such a horrible performance from someone who is so much better. he owned the previous week. then slunk in to this one. sad....

but Crystal...she opened with what was her best performance of the year--and IMPROVED on it. a wee bit, but still. wow.

black velvet was a song that I forgot about, suddenly remembered, hated that she had to sing it...then loved it.

and Up the Mountain. best thing I've seen on Idol...maybe b/c I can hear Jerry singing that song, and I do...but damn. I don't expect that kind of performance, for this kind of show. I think half the viewers of this show--the loyal fans--don't know songs like that, and don't know that kind of music.

I'm just glad she's here. she destroyed everyone on her way getting this far, and despite the little david archulettas that tend to own this type of "talent show," hoarding before her...she just waltzed right through.

fucking.

brilliant.

I was hoping Lee would win going into this show (and I was pulling for Crystal from the first 30 second clip they gave us in Hollywood week).

Now, it's obvious that Crystal's really the only one that deserves to win. She's the consummate professional, the superior talent this year.

I think Lee has a real career ahead of him, though. The beautiful day song wrecked that night, more than anything, But his control for the first two songs was pretty damn tight.

....and then the show's over. no one will watch without Simon. oh well.

What if Howard Stern took Simon's place... would you watch then?

I think making Lee sing that U2 song sealed his deal for coming in 2nd. Maybe it was fixed to work that way?.... Hmmmm.....

I fundamentally dislike Howard Stern, so it definitely wouldn't encourage me to watch. He would basically be the prick version of Ellen, content-wise.

I thought Lee's vocals for Everybody Hurts were fantastic, but I've always filed that song under "annoying." There's an initial negative to overcome, there. But yeah, U2 was god awful. blah.

...at least they didn't have to do a horrible Kara Dioguardi song for #3, though--like last year. D:

Doubt it. Lee got completely overhyped these past few weeks, and I believe he might take it. It's like Adam last year had the reigns for most of the season. Kris came out of nowhere in the end and grabbed it even though it's not like he rocked the finale either. It takes 1 song for people go to gaga over and then that's it. Kris had his Heartless song last year which people went head over heels for. This year it's Lee's Hallelujah. Forget the fact that Crystal had a far better finale. Adam had his Mad World last year but too bad that came too early in the season to get him anywhere at the end.

but I'll believe DialIdol showing Lee completely ahead. It's not even close this time...

I disagree. I think Lee rocked the last few weeks, and Crystal was off the mark. Last night was the complete opposite though. Crystal was the obvious winner, giving 3 of the best performances from anyone all season, and Lee retreated back to the shy, I-don't-deserve-to-be-here Lee of 4-5 weeks ago.

Also, winning American Idol isn't necessarily "winning." Kris Allen's first album peaked at #11 on the Billboard 200 and has sold 302,000 albums. Adam Lambert's first album peaked at #3 on the Billboard 200 and has sold 645,000 albums.

Regardless of how America votes, the winner of American Idol can't put out a sucky album and expect to get a lot of sales. And if the runner-up puts out a great album, it's going to generate a lot of sales. There are some definite perks that come with winning, but there are also some limitations.

Edit: And as I mentioned a few posts back, America likes voting for the underdog or the artist who grew the most over the course of the season. Last year that was Kris Allen. This year it's Lee. Even though Adam was better than Kris, Adam was good from the very beginning and didn't see the same growth that Kris did. If Lee wins, then I think that has a lot to do with it. Crystal was an artist before going on the show. Lee had an incredible voice but didn't start performing like an artist until the last few weeks.
