What are you meaning by a "locked cpu"? I think your setting of 11.5 x 143 shows that it is unlocked, because the default is 13 x 133. So you have independently changed both the multiplier and the FSB. Hence, "unlocked".

Or do you mean something else (like FSB/DDRAM speed settings)?

I'd say it is your memory that is keeping your speeds down, not a "locked" cpu. PC2100 memory is only rated for a FSB of 133. You are lucky you've made it to 143. If you want a higher Ghz, up the multiplier, not the FSB. BTW, 11.5 x 143 is only 1645, less than the default 1729! If really do have 1866 and a FSB of 143, then you are at the stock multiplier of 13.

So, now I'm thinking this is what you mean by "locked," that you cannot change the multiplier. Well, if not, that is because of your mobo. The nForce2 mobos certainly allow for changing the multipler.

If you cannot change the multiplier, you are pretty much maxed out with the memory you are using.

I've got an AXDA1700DUT3C JIUCB 0250MPMW sitting here on my desk, awaiting a compatible motherboard (Epox 8RDA will be coming in via Fedex in a few days). Looks like I might not have very good luck overclocking. :(

who knows?!

people are getting varying results... i can't get my 2100+ even to go past default right now w/o running into a bunch of problems... and i have a 0302 AIUHB .... these are supposed to do well!

anyway.. i'll update more later

I would say overclocking results are a good expectation, but if you get a "crappy" chip, dont count it out till you've put the juice to her... I should be getting my case and HSF in a few hours and Im not going to count my AIUC out until she cries for mercy =)

hehehe.... just be sure not to hurt your mobo though like i did :)

my mobo hates me now!!! or it hates this 2100+.... but right now... it's liking it at default voltage :)

34C at 1.6V not bad for right now... let's see how hot it'll get after 20 minutes of prime... just to get an idea of what temp it'll peak at...

Prime 95 was run for 12 hours over the weekend at 2300Mhz with no errors (I did it after I lapped the Heatsink which was needed badly)
My temps went from 52C at full load down to 48C after the heatsink was lapped.

Memtest does have a few errors at 184 on my memory at stock voltage but all disappear at 2.7

As for the screen shoots here is an early one before the heatsink was lapped and running at 185(It's stable too I just like the round number).

CPU Speed

My 3dmarks are here: 3DMark Score

Attempting higher speeds results in an exponential Voltage increase after 2312Mhz. I can get into Windows and do everything I need to at 2400 @1.85 but the system will not complete Prime 95. It's not the ram as I have underclocked it with no change. I'm looking at getting a new PSU in the next few weeks as my voltage jumps around wildly from 1.74-1.804 on the 1.775 setting.

I wish I could get a real 2GHz out of this thing, but at that speed it fails in Prime95 within minutes, and I haven't tried pushing voltage above 1.75V because I don't want to fry my chip. :(

Even now, it's not entirely stable in Prime95 (for some reason the program doesn't indicate a failure like it does at other times, but rather just crashes with an uninformative Windows "this program had an error" box), but for most things the stability seems to be ok. I'm going to have to back off on the timings some more even, I'm afraid.

I'll update it when I have a chance to remove my heatsink. It is a pain because of the position of the socket and mounting clip on my 8RDA is very close to the top and near my PSU, and I have to use a screwdriver to push down and un-lock the clip.

Also
I am surprised that most all people are running their Samsung ram at such relaxed timmings. I don't even have the CLT chips, mine are DLT and I've actually run it @ 2.0-3-3-5 185MHz.

Ok, another forum deal came in the mail today so it gave me a reason to open up my box and get the readings off my chip, so my specs. are now up to snuff :)

MB is Epox 8RDA+

Ram is 1 stick of Crucial 256mb 2100 and 1 K-byte 256mb @ 7-2-2-2.5 @160mhz

CPU is currently running @ 2104.77 (10.5x200.45) acording to WinCPUID @ 1.696V actual

Temps are running @ 48-51C idle and 53C under Prime95 load. I ran Prime95 last nite for over 5 hours while doing some 3Dmark2001 testing with no errors. I am not sure why my temps are so high, system temp reads 22Cidle/24C under full load. I have a Global win heatsink (no copper) with a 80mm fan that spins @ 3100RPM. I dont know the model number, but I think taht might be my problem. Could anyone suggest a quiet heatsink/fan combo to replace it? I do a lot of school work on the computer when I'm not gaming, so it needs to be quiet.

Thanks,
Josh

This chip is killer. I can run 2.312ghz (12.5 x 185) at 1.775v, but mbm is show it as 1.8v. So, the extra volts is not worth it to me yet. I want to make sure my chip doesn't bite it like some of the original .13 micron P4s. Alot of them started failing after a few months when they started using voltages over 1.7v.

drop your mult to 11.5 and run at FSB of 200... you have the ability to with that pc3200 ram :)

I wish, but my Epox 8RDA+ does not run 200mhz. :frown: In fact not alot of nForce 2 motherboard run 200mhz stable. Here is an excellent link which discusses this issue:

http://members.cox.net/8rda/issues.html

You can do some mods to my board, but it's not worth it. I can run up to 195mhz stable, but I like running at a 185mhz with aggressive memory timings
2-2-2-6. I probably could run 166:200, but I prefer running in sync.
