It's a brand new platform folks. There were always going to be issues. Are we forgetting that Ryzen is way stronger than all of us initially thought? Even at it's current gaming performance which is clearly going to be improved, it is really not lagging that far behind a CPU with a 1Ghz lead.

Also we're getting an incredible bargain here. $40 a core? Like there is literally nothing to complain about.

Sorry, but games bottleneck CPU's today in a lot of situations. They just rarely test the areas that do. The low res resolution test is just an easy way around having to hunt down the bottlenecking areas.
Seriously?

I don't care if a game bottleneck at 480p to identify if a CPU is okay for current generation of games, which is what is being discussed. It does not matter because I don't consume it at that resolution. As long as I am getting the fps

Even that is not certain:
3700 12-11-11 memory settings

That's a bit more than like 8% higher than you would expect for a 4.1GHz Ryzen.
Cinebench doesn't usually care about memory performance....

for some reason I cant quote anything without errors, but this where sirmo got his picture.
/u/buildzoid (who posted the thread on /r/amd) posted this comment:
The photo is from his Facebook and he says he's working on a How to video. Also worth noting is that he scoring over 100 points higher than other 8 core Ryzens at 4.1 and 4GHz. He mentions his facebook post that Ryzen scales with memory a lot more than other architectures even in benchmarks like Cinebench which generally doesn't care about RAM performance very much.

Edit: Dancop's Facebook page where he posted it.

This week's worst Newegg Review award goes to Hal B.

" AMD had 5 years to get this right and they blew it. Why have such a high end cpu only support dual channel and not even fully support all of the memory slots. The motherboard manufacturers all got the same data from AMD.
I doubt this is going to get resolved and we are stuck with bad cpu's that we cannot return for a refund.
Developers are not going to go out of their way to take the extra expense to write code to support this CPU. A few that AMD pays to do it maybe. I had to buy another motherboard from a local store so I had one ready to test since the one I ordered from Newegg won't be here until March 6th or 7th. Updated the latest bios and still only 2 memory slots are working correctly. I should have known better due to AMD's reputation "The Yugo of computer platforms". This cpu line should have been the iteration of Piledriver and code named Pileofcrap."

Lol.. 🙂

@ Sirmo.. VERY nice info/results & that is a baddass overclock 🙂 Can't wait to see the How to video..

So to the layman, what the engineers are saying is that Ryzen is really two 4 core 8 thread cpus duct taped together.
When I watched an 1800x get delidded that was exactly what they found. Two separate cores sitting side by side which kind of reminded me of the thunderbird core with the exposed die on top of it just with two.

What's so idiotic about someone expressing his thoughts over the truth of this matter? He's obviously disappointed, as am I, and he's entitled to his opinion just as you and I are entitled to ours. These fanboy attacks are just so stupid.😱

.

LOL post of the month!

Check out what happens when you remove those 2 things you've seen https://youtu.be/wz_-Q5QzRqg?t=247

Dude, can't you see they're just starting to understand this new CPU and how to get the most out of it? Don't be disappointed.. The chip is in early teething stage. It's gonna grow some teeth 😉

Everybody knows that its just starting out, however, AMD made the performance claims versus Intel not us so when the average Joe can't slap on the product and see the same results it tends to dampen enthusiam.

Damn i am still laughing. I imagine a split personality duct taped together.

Mary Jane. Man i want some of that stuff.

lol it's quite comical indeed. It's like a number of people had their responses all prepared and ready to go for when the results were shown. Except results were much higher than expected, but all they could do was stick to the plan and hope for the best! I'm not sure if they realize how out of touch with reality they look though. haha

What you saw is two solder pads, designed for the smaller Ryzen cores, as they will be soldered as well.
Jesus!

Those are two square blocks of soldering pads placed on the die and then heated with the lid on hence forming the pattern.

EDIT:

Skip to 4:30 for fcuks sake
Why are you telling me to do that? I just want a pic with the solder pads removed. Can't really watch vids at work.

At least they now have a architecture they can improve on. Ryzen is clearly better than intels 2nd gen sandy bridge. After a few iterations, assuming Intel is still doing tick-tock-op-op and ryzen can do better than intels usual 5%, they should catch up very soon. Unlike bulldozer whose subpar ipc is something no iterations can fix.

That sort of knee-jerk jackassery makes me not want to be an AMD user, btw.

Seriously? O Please! you edited your damn post to add your comment.

The fact that you would think/suspect AMD would open knowing itself up to class actions for selling false product underlines who the naive "jackass" is. 😛

you are in the same bucket as the Puffnstuff! Sad! Period! Incredible!

Get home and have a look at the video.

I edited it before you posted, and even before the edit I specifically asked for a pic.

Besides why don't you explain properly instead of going off half-cocked and cursing?
Why act like a jerk?

It's a good thing I have been around a while or you'd have actually soured me on AMD. 🙂
