But overall, those scores don't look like such a big problem for Intel, save for pricing.
Well you have AMD's version of BDW-E that costs 2x less. I'd say that is a big problem for intel. Problem becomes even bigger next month when 1600X launches with the same clocks as 1800X and for ~280$. 7700K will look terrible in that matchup from perf/price POV.

Edit:
Check chiphell's translated conclusion. They had some issues with their bios/memory/ryzen combo, it even failed to boot once. Looks like it will take time for all the bugs to get ironed out.

Do we know the clocks for 1600X are 3.6/4.0 for sure?

Yep. Broadly comparable to Broadwell-E in MT. A little slower in ST.

It makes AMD relevant again in terms of absolute performance.

As usual, price/performance will define matters for the consumer and small business.
Performance/watt will define matters for the large server farm.

Pricing is pretty much the whole point. If AMD can sell an Ryzen 7 1800X for half the price of an Intel i7-6900K, and the performance is comparable, then Intel has a big problem. If AMD uses less power as well, then Intel has a really big problem.
Really depends on what sort of margins Intel is getting 8n hedt right now... they might be FAT.. Also it may have some implied value to have hedt-nerds like us testing and validating their server line as well... they might be able to drop prices by half and still make a profit.. I sure as beeep dont know :).

I'm impressed with the power consumption result leak from ChipHell. Let's hope it turns out to be true. That was one the main issues with AMD with their mainstream CPUs.

Will it take time with consumers as well? ;)

Even if RyZen scores improve some, I see RyZen as less of a problem for Intel than I expected a few days ago.

I was expecting much better scores, combined with the much lower price.

Intel could just react with pricing and a clock bump, it looks like.

Barring a major surprise from other reviews, that is. :D

So it was... Expected. Broadwell was destroyed somehow to Ryzen, but it has a lot to do to defeat Kabylake which is a Skylake with Steroids.

So AMD Zen has Broadwell ST and Skylake MT performance at a price to laugh.

Ok AMD I guess that is time to move to the red team. Their octas at crazy prices are good enough to put them on a virtual machine.

Does Prime only stress the FP side of the core though?

If thats the case, due to the undersized FP on Zen, then it'll always look better from power consumption - not so hot from performance.

Previous China leaks and the Iran leak are in line so it's becoming certain.
Now if we could only get some 1700 data, 65W and all.

The previous China leak was 1700X vs the 6 cores 6800k with 16GB RAM and a 480 8GB
Platform Power - CPU only / full load 123W 126.87W 3.15%
Platform Power - Standby 62.77W 98.74W 57.30%
Platform Power - Gaming ( CPU + GPU ) 154.66W 194.2W 25.57%
Platform Power - Office/Productivity 81.55W 113.5W 39.8%

The Iran leak from y-day has power numbers on this page http://www.shahrsakhtafzar.com/fa/review/cpu/11652-amd-ryzen-7-1700x-review?showall=&start=4

Even if they can drop prices by half and still make a price, they sure as hell don't want to.

8-core desktop CPUs are a niche market, so won't affect Intel's bottom line much, but if AMD can actually deliver this kind of performance per watt, then the next battle might be server CPUs, and that's a huge market.

Do you really believe intel will price any 8C SKL-X SKU at 1800X level? If you are then you are dreaming.

I said a price adjustment, not a 50% cut.

Why did you jump right over the brink?

Given that SL-X will perform better than BW-E, I think a price adjustment is all that's needed right now.

Again, barring any major surprises from reviews today.

I'm kind of sad the NDA is lifting soon. This thread , for Me , has been like giving a bucket of crack to an addict :D
Without question one of the most anticipated releases in a decade (core2 comes to mind)
