If XFR is indeed unlimited and only based on sensors data this means that the silicon is at its limits when clocking to 4.1GHz. In this case would be better if XFR were limited to 100MHz boost so we could hope for better manual overclocking...

If it's unlimited, then it does seem odd that it only did +100mhz with good liquid cooling.
Would you buy a good liquid cooler for +100mhz?

we already have pre overclocked towers @ 4.2ghz

So was the demo sandbagged?

Or is this the variability of the GloFo process coming into play?

I would imagine XFR isn't so agressive...
Anyway, 4.1GHz should not be too far from max freq. for these initial batches and ambient cooling temps.

Damn, never thought that demo was so fun. Can only hope rest of evening was as fun and reviewers won't shy away from some potshots.

However, when they went for a manual all core overclock at the AMD demo, they only went for 4.1 and we don't know what happened since the feed went down.

XFR with auto adjustable voltage ? If XFR is unlimited therefore you need to adjust voltage to maintenance stability of CPU, So XFR Is not unlimited .also maximum clock with XFR was 4.1Ghz , that means 4.2Ghz on all CPUs are not possible due to different silicon lottery

Sounds more like they just slapped it to 4.1 without any prior tinkering. Obviously they aren't going to hit a high stable OC in one go. Takes trial and error.

When i have seen them doing the slapping like that the first thought i have had was: "Bbbbbut voltages?".

We'll see in 3 days. But i would be surprised if you can push 1800X to 4.1 without any voltage adjustments and luck.

Would not surprise me if the FMax of one of the cores is higher than others, and the sensors could detect that, putting 4.1GHz on just that specific core.

I think it's important to remember that XFR is an automatic chip supported feature. It's supported by AMD. As such it's going to be extremely conservative. AMD doesn't want to be on the hook for burnt up chips. If that is the case, I don't think it's reasonable to expect it to OC the chip as high as a manual overclock will. That being the case XFR overclocks do not indicate anything about silicon quality.

Command rate - is the delay (in clock cycles) between when chip select is asserted (i.e. the RAM is selected) and commands (i.e. ... The amount of time in cycles when the chip select is executed and the commands can be issued. The lower (1T) the faster the performance, but 2T is used to maintain system stability

atm , 3400Mhz 1T was not possible on Intel's CPU nore AMD (I haven't seen it , please notify me ). This is Highest clock that reported on 1T.
