Makes you wonder, can the Internet Strongman ban himself? Is he that strong? It is like a paradox.

BTW is anyone else here disappointed that Amazon pulled their Ryzen pre-orders? I was hoping they'd get a non-bundled pre-order up and running. I also saw they had a 1800x + Asus x370 Pro bundle (but not C6H, grr).

Who actually is Juanrga? - I mean is he just "a guy" or is he a former industry type of guy or what is he exactly?

But in regard to Zen his last visible post is actually correct - ZEN's lead architect was Suzanne Plummer, chief architect was M.T: Clakr and Keller was Team-Leader but "only" until end of 2015 when he left.

So ppl who only give only credit to Keller are just not correct because they complete disregard the other major players

I find this hilarious..ofc Amd is happy to finally release something better then bulldozer which was an epic fail to start with...but not even catching up with Haswell on IPC when it is an 4 yrs old technology is not a big achievement...yeah ofc Amd will throw more cores as they always do but in my book is not a big deal..

Juan "RGA" is his full names but I don't really feel like finding what his full name is because I just don't feel like it.

He is a tool, that is all you have to know really, and he hit new heights of toolsism when he went on about how Canard PC's Doc TB endorsed him.

Actually they have got Haswell Singlethread and Broadwell Multithread....you point is invalid.

And being capable of selling this tech at 1/3 of the current market price, is it an achievement?

Maybe people should stop using it in the first place. Would you not be curious to know who Nancy is if I post "According to Nancy, Zen is slower than Bulldozer?"

What did you really expect from AMD?
They are small, making hardly any money and have not control over compilers in the way like Intel or Apple. Look at SPEC.org! Even IBM cannot compete with Intel on hardly any benchmark.

I doubt they made it up. The font and color scheme seems identical to what we saw in previous leak (CB 1800X and 1700X results). It likely came from the same presentation.

hmm I dunno, seems pretty sus to me..

IPC uplifts have always been quoted/claimed by AMD as estimates.. as they always should be. This looks like Videocardz trying to be facetious, based on cinebench or something, which by the way I think will indeed be a zen' favorite'

So which chip competes with the ~$325 7700k? Are people mostly hoping this just creates competition to get cheaper 6/8 core chips from Intel?

EDIT nm just saw the $329 r1700 from the release above. Interesting! Still not sure I'd take it over a 4 Core chip with a nearly a 1ghz clock + IPC advantage though.

Depends on what you mean by compete. The 1700 has more cores and threads, but clocks lower. In games where 4C8T is enough, then the higher clock of the 7700k will be better. In a game where more cores are used, the 1700 should do better.

My guess is that until we see full reviews that test stock and OC using real applications, we won't know. People are hitting 5GHz with the 7700K, so that could be hard for Ryzen to beat single-threaded.

Core for Core (or rather, Thread for Thread), not the 7-series Ryzen. those are up against the HEDT intel chips, meaning - more threads, less frequency to keep a power envelope.
you would need Ryzens above 4GHZ to compete with a 7700K so maybe the 5 series with a hefty OC.

I'm not sure that fewer cores can OC on the 4C chips. Usually, when Intel reduces cores they ramp up frequency. For some reason, AMD has higher frequency on more cores which is the inverse. If it were about power and heat, then I would think they would have a higher base frequency. I would not count on OC'ing the 4C chips to catch the 7700k.

For gaming I'd pick the 7700K.
