It happens pretty frequently now that I've upgraded to 1.4... I'm going to flash to 1.5 now and let the cmos drain out for a few hours before i boot it again.... hopefully this was caused by an incomplete flash or something. reading the thread, i am positive that ive seen other people with this issue and i am wondering why there hasnt been any headway made on it.

I will say this; the new BIOS (15) is the best one so far. Firstly all my issues with RAM at 220 and 1:1 are completely gone, and I can now run the Performance mode at Streetracer.

so for the ic7/ic7-g the GAT setting = PAT right?

if so, could anyone provide benchmarks scores of an overclocked p4c at 1:1 memory ratio with and without PAT enabled?

I have the P4P800 but it can't run PAT at any fsb over 200...so once I get the pc3700 I'm wondering if I will be better off with the IC7-G so that I can hit a high fsb at 1:1 and have PAT enabled. I have a week to decide before my 30 day return period is over.

Thanks!!:):):):)

Also another question for IC7 users....do you have to reset the CMOS anytime you overclock too far?

Because I don't have to on the P4P800...it just says "Overclocking failed" at bootup and allows me to go into the BIOS to lower my settings. Just wondering.

Thanks!!:):):)

i will. tell me what benchmarks you would like to see. i have sandra, SPEC Viewperf 7.1, 3dmark 2001 and 2003.

Thanks for the offer!!:):) Any benchmark that shows memory bandwitdth is fine, so i guess forget the 3dmarks...sandra memory bandwidth and pcmark come immediately to mind. Also, I've been doing some reading and I don't know exactly if GAT = PAT since GAT has several levels...turbo/street racer/f1...what i'm curious about is seeing the effects of PAT enabled and disabled at 1:1 with an fsb over 200. So if it's a different bios setting then forget GAT.

In other words, say I'm at 240fsb with a 1:1 ratio. I'm trying to figure out if the IC7-G will be better because PAT will be enabled whereas on the P4P800 it won't be. Thanks a lot this will be really helpful!!:):):)

System is working great for me, no complaints here. Completely stable at 280 fsb, def. voltage, memory at 5:4 2632 (ddr 448 and sandra scores of >6k/6k). :D BTW 1.5 bios sucks, it didnt let me o/c as good as 1.4

I completely disagree. 15 has solved all my stability problems in Memtest and Prime95. I am happily OCed at 225 now, with DRAM 1:1, and the Performance Mode set at Streetracer. I'll try out F1 tonight, and continue to raise the bar.

no, the bios boots up with the FSB at 100mhz and safe defaults.

Well, so far so good, I guess, running at my posted stats back in page 17 for 2 days after a clean wipe....

I tell you, you can't get a stable system without giving up some blood to the computer, did it back with my 300a, and now with this new system, was, getting some wires out of the way and the Zalman alcu 7000 took a part of my knuckle :)

I hope the computer gods are happy with the blood offering. *prays*

heheh, same here

try modding it at the same time!

lost a lit bit of a finger tip to a dremel

a knuckle split open courtesy of a hi powered 80mm fan

and of course, the mandatory scratches

did i mention the *shocking* experience while I was modding my PSU?

:D

I just discovered a little gain for those who are using some of the later BIOS revisions. On the advanced Chipset page in BIOS (where you set the memory timings) I changed the read delay adjust from "Auto" to enabled. It increases Sandra numbers about 30 points memory bandwidth. Setting the other one to enable didn't seem to do anything. The 1.5 BIOS seems just a hair faster than 1.4 ( I finally loaded it) and I still can't get the turbo or other modes to work with 4 sticks installed. However a mild OC from 200 to 215 puts me at about 5150 to 5200 bandwidth on Sandra. I'll probably go no further in OCing since I'm reaching memory limits without resorting to ratio adjusting. Only have 3200 RAM and am operating at 430 MHz at 215 FSB.

Hey everyone, Been reading this topic for awhile and decided to go with the ic7-g. I'm new to the whole raid thing and need to know if I set up a raid 10 array can I use 1 160gb hd on raid 1 while using 2 80gb on 0 or does it need to be 2 160gb on 1 or will 2 80gb drives work. Hopefully it wasn't as confusing as it looks. Secondly, when striping, what is the best value? Thx

I have a Gig of geil 3500 Platinum Dual Channel DDR and im trying to set my memory the best as i can. With this being my 1st rig with DDR im not sure what alot of the settings do. I changed these settings in my bios:

2
6
3
3
Turbo

NB Strap - PS800
Dram Ratio 1:1
Read Delay Adjustment: Enabled

and i got these scores with sandra.

My memory bandwidth score on Sandra is
Ram Bandwidth Int Buff iSSE2 4872 MB/s
Ram Bandwidth Float Buff iSSE2 4883 MB/s

Anyone have any sugestions as to anything else i can do or try? I have the newest bios thats on abits website.

Well I went ahead and changed the NB hsf to a Zalman NB cooler, cause my fan was making all sorts of noises at startup.

the Zalman mad worked well, except that I felt the zlaman HS was still quite a bit higher than the stock HS, so I took a pair of pilers and bent the 4 hooks on the mounting bracket more level, so that it dosen't put too much pressure on the NB brackets.

Do you have the latest bios date? Im running 14. Also have you tryed pressing the reset switch button on the case? I had to do this a couple times, then it went to fsb100 and safe defaults...

Did you use the existing mounting ring, and if so, how low on the Zalman did you nip off the corner pins? I am installing the Zalman this weekend, as well as clearing up the wiring mess in my box.

Also, is there a way to check if the HSF is situated right, i.e. is there a benchmark that will test the Nortbridge specifically?

Well I have the J version which I think is taller, took a pair of pilers and took off 3 pins on each corner, then used a metal file and leveled the snaps till the're flush with the base. Finally I bent the 4 hooks on the stock mounting ring to almost level, with a aliite actic silver the clips slide right back in an catch. played 4 hours of Elite Force @ 3ghz OC without problems... cept the progam dosen't like my DX override and stayed at 60hz.
