Your other stick might not be "bad," it just might not overclock as well as the other stick. Not all memories overclock the same, even though they are the same size and speed.

Corsair XMS PC3500C2 accoring the RAM guy is rated for DDR400 2-2-2-6, so it is not being overclocked. My mem was gettings lots or errors at this setting, so I am sending it back. RMA from newegg has be recieved and it is actually all packaged up and ready to go out in the morning. Everything is working alot smoother with that chip out as well...I am not getting the soft locks and other rare errors when installing windows like I use was. Hopefully this will be the last time I reinstall windows for some time.

P.S.
Still trying to figure out what these do:
Performance Mode (Disabled) (I kinda have an idea what it does, but would like more info.)
Refresh Cycle Time (Auto)
Read Delay (Auto)
read Delay Adjust (Auto)
Command Per Clock (Auto)
CPU THRM-Throttling (63.5%)

so, what's this that I'm starting to hear about a new bios coming out soon to make the bios show the actual timings the board is using? anyone have any dirt on this?

So, do you only get problems while using Nero becuase I never use nero and I desperately need Raid 0? And my second question is do you all think that Intel will fix this problem??
EDIT
And my third question is, is this problem only on the Abit IC7/IC7-G boards? Because if it is, Ill send the board back and get an Intel one. Ive already had to have it RMA'd because this board wouldn't start up.

Yeah, the Problem is only with Nero (and Nero InfoTool)

I agree with killerbob and my experiences mirror his. I am not sure if other 875 boards have this, but I strongly believe that , first, it is a Nero-IAA problem, and second, that it WILL DEFINITELY be fixed (no idea when) by either Nero or Intel.

I had the same problem with my raptors in Raid 0 and Ghost, as soon as I opened up ghost..boom...computer restarts! I'll enjoy a fix for this problem...hopefully very soon!

Did anyone get an IC7-G that had broke/missing pieces upon arrival? Our review unit came with broken memory holders, and I am curious whether this is an isolated case, or is there perhaps a great quality control issue at play?

Someone had a quote from either Intel or Norton about this, and they recognised the issue, but noone owned up to it. Doens't matter much though, as you can always use Ghost from your boot disk, and it works OK. I can access my DVD RW and my USB HD from the floppy startup as well.

Yeah. Mine came with a broken memory holder (1 out of the 4 was broken). I decided not to RMA the mobo for that reason - didn't feel like it. Definitely not an isolated incident. I heard that Abit is putting rubber band around those now to somehow prevent it.

I am ordering this board and trying to decide on the memory. I see an awesome price for Cosair Value Select PC3200... but then I see CMX512-3200LL, and the XMS models. What is the diff? Why should I NOT get the Value Select for $73 ea for 512MB? I thought I was on track until I ran into this.

Thank you,

Cuervo

Yea, I recieved my mobo with a rubberband around the memory holders on only one side.

It seems that after taking that bad stick out things are working great. My one remaining chip is set to 2-2-2-6 2.7v and Prime95 has been running for 17hrs now. I am gona let it go another 7 and then try pushing my performance mode up to Turbo. If that works, I will try ultra and if it don't, I will drop down to fast and try that. I mailed my bad chip out today and hopefully I will have my replacement in about 10 days. When I get that I will test it by itself. I hope it is as good as my one remaining chip.

I have only crashed once in a week due to hardware issues, but I ran memtest86 after you posted your troubles anyway, and I got errors. Sigh. Tonight I'll swap them one by one and see which stick is bad. RMA takes 10 days from NewEgg? After all the money I've spent there in the last month, I had hoped they might cross-ship.

2 -> 3 days bad ram to newegg
2 days processing
2 -> 3 days new chip to me.
~10 days

I should have tested each one individually from the start. I am glad my one remaining chip is super fast. Keeping my fingers crossed that the replacements is as good or better.

Ditto with the rubber bands, but take a look at how the clips arrived
here on our review unit....

Well I have been messing with this board for a few days now. Very nice package I must say.

Here is my current setup:

ABIT IC7-G Rev 1
1 GB CORSAIR MEMORY XMS LL PC3200 (512MB x 2)
P4 2.4C w/ Zalman CNPS7000 Cu
ATI AIW 9700 Pro
WD Raptor on SATA 3
Antec True 430W
WinXP Pro

System would not boot. The default voltage setting for the DDR SDRAM is 2.6v. The Corsair did not like this. Read similiar stories around different forums. Bumped it up to 2.8v. Works great.

Once the RAM was squared away things seem to running good. Then I tried to run 3D Mark 2001SE. System would give me a hard lock about 20 seconds into the benchmark. Took the voltage up to 1.6v and that solved that problem.

Scored about 15229 in the 3DMark2001 with everything at default settings.

Settings

Ram: 2-6-3-3
Core Voltage: 1.625v
AGP Ratio: 5:4
AGP/PCI Freq: Fixed
AGP Voltage: 1.6v
DDR SDRAM Voltage: 2.8v

Currently I have the FSB at 269, giving me a clock speed of 3229MHz according to WCPUID. I am running it through Prime95 currently, and its looking good.

Hope this helps somebody around here. Because these forums have helped me a lot. I'll update later on after running some more benchmarks.

I just got my IC7-G and 3.0 up and running but i have a few questions.

1. has anyone used motherboard monitor with this board? I tired and if i set censor 2 to show temp i get a reading of like 200 plus and the alarm goes off. what is censor 2 and why does it read that hot? I would like to know what censor is what in the censor numbers as well. like cpu is censor 1, motherboard is censor 2 so on and so on.

2. can someone tell me some timings to set my ram at? i have a gig of geil dual channel 3500. in the settings i think i have every setting to the lowest it will go. but then again im running my ram at 200, so i know im not maxing out the ram.

3. can someone go over some of the settings in the bios? there is ALOT of stuff in there i have never seen before. i would like to know what helps me how it helps me and what hurts my performance.

thanks in advance for any help you might give.

I have mobo monitor setup:

Sensor 1 - Motherboard - Winbond 1
Sensor 2 - CPU - Winbond 2 Diode
Sensor 3 - Board - Winbond 3

Running version 5.3.2

I was planning on using a Serial drive only no IDE, I kind of hoped that would be a neat thing as I orderd a Maxtor Serial Drive. While reading through the Users guide (ABIT online one), I noticed that Windows XP needs to be loaded to load the Chipset software. Will the BIOS and MB allow me to use the Serial drive without this software? Iguess the answer is yes since the same thing would apply for an IDE drive but just checking to make sure. Another questiion, will the Sapphire 9700 radeon video card with the heat pipe cooling fit? it looks kind of tight between the northbridge cooler and the AGP board? The ZAlman web page doesn't say anything about it not fitting so again I'm assuming it will.

I posted this in the motherboard section by msitake, it is a IC7G specific poll for info. By reading the posts (there are many btw) it looks like the heatpipe cooler on the video card cna be installed with the stock northbridge whirlly thing.

Im running my Geil DDR 3500 1GIG Dual Channel ram at:

Cas 2
Act to Precharge 5
Dram ras# to cas# delay 2
Dram ras# precharge 2

N/B Strap: PSB800
Dram Ratio 1:1

Is there anything i can do get better performance?
