Is it surprising to anyone that they got another quake?

TO me it doesn't really seem surprising. If an area is under enough stress to cause one quake, why would everything just get completely calm?

"Mommy, why did God make that tornado pick daddy's car up and throw it into a volcano?"

"Because he loved him so much, little Johnny. I'm sure he had a good reason"

Luckily this one is only 1/8th as powerful as the last one.

it thought every .1 was 10x as powerful, so like an 8.3 is 10x an 8.2, and an 8.4 is 100x an 8.2.? Maybe I"m wrong

I think the intensity increased by 10x for every whole number. So an 9 is 10x as powerful as a 8

Saying that God doesn't exist without presenting proof is not really saying anything.

One of the fundamental rules of logic is that you cannot prove a negative. You can't prove that something doesn't exist.

Let's leave religion out of this and talk about factual things instead.

So until either side presents evidence to back up their point that either God exists or doesn't exist, these kinds of provocative statements shouldn't be posted.

Now lets get back on the topic. Were casualties reported yet? I'm not watching CNN so I don't know. ;)

Yeah, I am not even religious at all, but in this case, it's just trying to be considerate and think of the people whom this could be affecting.

The tsunami should have hit by now, right?

Looks like this was an aftershock and not a true Earthquake so looks like no Tsunami out of this.

Where are you reading this? Aftershock or not, it's still an 8.2 magnitude.

I love how none of the news stations have fact checkers any more. Even the BBC is calling it a possible "tidal wave."

That doesn't mean anything. An aftershock is a true earthquake. An 8.2 aftershock is still as powerful as an 8.2 "original" earthquake.

CNN says if there's a tsunami as a result, it should be hitting any minute now.

They've sacraficed specificity and accuracy for quickness of release.
