I'm not sure if i can or not. i've done it one of 2 years and like it, but i'm about dead broke this year... besides, i have no idea what my likes and dislikes are.

2) Unless the rules have changed, no. I think you are allowed to sign up twice, but make sure you ask amdskip or MartyMcFly3 first.
3) The person won't find out until end of year/early next year when the list is posted. Then everyone will know who gave who what. If you want to know the process a little better, you can read the past threads. Any questions you might have are probably already answered in them.

1) The link to the signup form is at the bottom of the OP
2) The point of a secret santa is a gift exchange. If you don't receive something then you are denying someone sending out something, or causing someone to receive 2 gifts (both are unfair). If you want to strictly give to someone, I recommend the Child's Play 2009 thread, as that is definitely a good cause.
3) If you participate in the secret santa (by both sending/receiving) then it is up to you how soon you want them to find out. Eventually we post out the lists after most if not all receive their gifts. Some people like to give the answer away right away, others wait. Your choice.

Signing up for this year. My wife gave me the green light since she's not doing her usual secret Santa stuff this year. Very excited! Hopefully I won't end up giving crappy gifts!

I'd just like to say that I'm boycotting this and all other Christmas related activities until at least Black Friday. Enough of this bullcrap where Christmas starts after Halloween!
umm its just signups, you dont find out who your SS is untill after turkey day
and starting this now isn't a big deal. Offtopic.com has had their forum for it open since like September, yes the dedicate an entire subform to it. and actually im pretty sure the pairings already went out, they also ban you for a year if you fail, which is funny
In years past we did it later and gifts werent getting there in time/lots of other complaints. We found we avoid a lot of that hassle by doing signups this early.

I've been wanting to do this for a couple years now and never really had any extra money to participate. This year I am finally making some good money so I am in.
I'm in for the second year. Had a lot of fun shopping the first time around and it should be fun this time around too.
Arrgh, really want to join again this year, but I don't think I'll be around to get the package anyone sends me.
It's really a huge PITA for me to receive any packages by mail.
Can't have it delivered to a buddies house or something?

As long as I have been running it (few years now) it has been. We've had participants all the way in Japan before.
I just signed up for the first time. I hope to not disappoint whoever I get to send the gifts to.
