One of the benefits of being the world's reserve currency is that everybody needs to own it. But you only maintain that status if you remain the most liquid, stable, etc - and there are good reasons to wonder if we'll be able to so for the foreseeable future.

For those interested, government has now allowed Edison Motors to open up investing to general public now. (used to only be for accredited investors before)

It's potentially risky but I think they are going to go far. They are still dealing with government regulation involving emissions but think they are working on sorting that out and worse case scenario they are going to just do standard 18 speed diesels if they can't get their hybrid approved, so don't think they're going anywhere either way.

Let me when the founder shows up on Rogan smoking weed and later claims the company is sold, "funding secured". I will definitely buy!

Good news is bad news today. I'll take it over bad news being bad news.

Q2 GDP growth at 3.8% vs 3.3% estimate. Jobless claims at 218,000 vs estimated rise to 238,0000. It was at 231,000 in the previous week.

Less likely chance for rate cuts.

Not surprising.. they owned a % of it before.. and saw how lucrative it is.. and are expanding.

I used to play Everquest and quit just because Daybreak (a Russian company) bought them.. refused to give them any money.

But some good could come out of this.. EA games are notoriously hard to get working and play.. it's nowhere as simple as Steam. Maybe that will change for the better.. especially as Silverlake is in the consortium of buyers and they're very competent.

Government shut down trade this week. Will the market care? It usually blows it off other than the lead up to it.

Saudis buying EA? .... Funding secured!!

I have changed my mind on my original post after learning it's a LBO (leveraged buyout).

Those almost never work and if you thought micro transactions in games are annoying.. they'll be much worse now.

I'm curious about something.. generally we look favorably on the mag 7 since they drive the market with huge earnings..

But if you had to condense it to 5.. which 2 would be your feeling are the weakest of the 7??

Just checked the price of Silver and it's at $64.86. Had no idea it had went up that much. I thought it was high when it hit $40. I wish I had bought more... lol.

Currently I have over 7 grand worth at the current price. Crazy. Tempting to sell but I told myself I will wait until it goes to well over $100. This is more a long term investment.

IDK, seems like leaving money on the table vs just investing in the overall market. But you do you.

That doesn't seem that bad compared to the biggest bubble of all time.

I agreed with the bubble assessment till I saw the USD value crashing. If anything these tariffs and trump's policies have destroyed the dollar to the point where the bubble seems a reasonable bubble rather than the biggest bubble of all time.

Still some stocks available at a discount.. but yeah when the bubble goes.. it'll drag the entire market down. I just don't think we're gonna go lower than S&P 4500 though thanks to devaluing of the dollar. (although originally I thought it would be a whole lot worse)

I still haven't bought GLD though.. I should have.. went from 3200 to 3800 in just a month.

I looked at USD vs Euro, and it's at 85 cents. A 5 year low but it's been worse.

We'll see what it looks like when Trump gets his way and the fed rate is 0%.

I have 1 ounce of silver I use as a lottery scratcher. I think I made more on it as a tool since 2015 than I ever made on scratchers. 😉

Decided to lock in some long-term gains. Haven't sold anything this year in my brokerage account. Have only been buying. Sold a small amount today.

The plan is to sell similar long-term amounts in November and December if this rally continues. Talks about a bubble are becoming real and I want to at least lock in something to have fun with.

I diversified a small % into silver and gold back in 2016 and 2017. Kinda forgot about it ever since. Most of my silver was bought when the spot was in the $15 to $17 range. If it hits $50 I am probably going to offload about 25% of what I have.

I am hoping silver catches fire eventually. How does $200 per ounce sound?

Gold has tripled since 2019 (1200 average to near 4000 high) yet silver has languished. By my reckoning silver should be at least $75 to $100 by now using the same growth rate. I guess the market does not care or there is simply too much silver in circulation to support that kind of bid. I dont know what the reason is.
