Nah, just tax the holy hell out of the rich. Make deficits hurt the people who matter and deficits will come down.
 
I'd be ok if they simply enforced existing tax laws the same on them as they do on us. People making millions should be paying 40% (all taxes combined) of their income just like the rest of us. Get rid of all the weird loopholes and oversea havens. Actually do something about the panama papers instead of just forgetting about it.

They also should move up the income tax brackets to give us middle class people some relief on inflation. In some places you need to be making like 6 figures just to be able to have an average house, and making that much puts you in a very high tax bracket even though by the time all the bills come out, you're not rich at all.

Also should be possible to write off living expenses. We should only pay taxes on our profit left over after all the bills come out, like a company. That would give a huge relief.

....and this is not the first time its happened for them. I guess they forgot the old adage "Fool me once, we wont get fooled again. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss."
 
Intel being replaced by nVidia on the Dow Jones. So I expect all the ETFs that track it to be selling Intel and buying nVidia. Question about how it'll work though since Dow Jones is based on stock price; will they be replacing it 1:1 in stock or total amount?

I'd assume it will be weighted based on market cap.

It's not, that's why I'm not sure how it works.

It is price-weighted, unlike other common indexes such as the Nasdaq Composite or S&P 500, which use market capitalization.[4][5][6][7]

The value of the index can also be calculated as the sum of the stock prices of the companies included in the index, divided by a factor, which is approximately 0.152 as of April 2024. The factor is changed whenever a constituent company undergoes a stock split so that the value of the index is unaffected by the stock split.

Looking further down in the Wiki it seems they will just swap Intel price with nVidia's and then change the factor so that the price stays constant between the swap.
 
Going to be one crazy night. Hard to know what it will do to stock market but I imagine there are lot of major stock holders getting ready to mass buy or mass sell, depending on who wins. I guess tomorrow will be when we see that activity. Although it seems the stock market never is affected as much as we figure by political events, so maybe nothing will even happen.
 
Gold is up about 60% over the past year and it looks like it's got some staying power. If you look at a chart, that's almost hyperbolic.

I really can't see it staying at current levels tho, but who knows.

I would expect another but small percentage rise once Harris wins. Nobody seems to trust her on the economy.

It's interesting that people still see real estate as the main thing that counts for real wealth. So if this increase is gen z socking away some acorns, you have to expect a more gradual decline as they draw down on those holdings.
 
I was going to bet against Trump, but then I realized that investments are not betting and decided to let the election runs it course before doing my long term investments...
