He definitely has talent, but I wonder how much of that is the wizardry of Andy Reed. That team is stacked, but during a 16 game season, there are opportunities to not be focused. Given the expanded playoffs, those errors might not be as egregious.

If I were the head-coach Foles would be the starter. Trubisky is simply too erratic.

Right now I think its a close call between Wilson and Mahomes for best QB in the league. Wilson is a better pure passer/run second QB with a proven record (too bad the Seahawks D is awful) but Mahomes is a wildcard in that nobody knows how good he'll ultimately be at this point. Last night was borderline-absurd how easy he made it look at times.

And Jackson was over-rated by nearly everyone including myself. Putting a run-first QB with a "meh" passing arm and poor judgement on the level of NFL elite like Mahomes is a mistake. He's a tremendous overall athlete but in my 45+ years of watching the NFL I've yet to see a run-first QB win on a consistent basis. Ever.

The NFL defensive minds, coordinators on down to the water boy, have a deft for scheming these types of players out. The defenses are big, strong, fundamentally sound and are extremely fast and get faster year after year. The most successful offensive schemes are the ones that use the mind and arm of QB. These attributes are harder to scheme. Then there is the increased risk of injury.

Teams/players tend to set/break records against the WFT. It's been that way for decades.

Calling Jackson overrated 3 games into his second year as a starter after they obliterated their opponents in week 1 and 2 then losing to the undefeated defending Super Bowl champs who very well look like they could repeat and arguably may have the best QB in the history of the game on their team is not fair.

I'd also argue he has very good judgement. He protects his body very well.

But he is consistently stopped at the goal line late in the game and has not really challenged for a championship. I know Rodgers and Brees are in that conference too. He does have a very good win-loss record, though. His stats are not that great overall. Lifetime QB rating 86.1 and 59.8% completion percentage.

He has been for the most part although I really had thought he was going to be the exception to the rule back in his Auburn days. What concerns me (as a Pat's-hater) is that he'll HAVE to shut up and listen to Belichick which could mean more passing from the pocket and more winning.

And although I have a lot of faith in the Ravens D I'm not sold on Jackson's passing ability or the Ravens ground-game for that matter. I personally thought Jackson was a better all-around QB then he has turned out to be... he may yet prove me wrong.

I do admit that KC does appear to have the Ravens number but until I see this current crop of Ravens actually win the big one I'll have doubts.

I'm the opposite with Jackson. I thought he would be utter garbage in the NFL because from the games I watched in college, he looked like a terrible decision maker or, at least, completely simple and predictable--out-athlete everyone on the field towards success.

I am convinced that he is legit.

I think DeShaun Watson, though, would make the Ravens essentially unbeatable. That guy....I think only Wilson is better than him with on the field brains, and Mahomes and Wilson overall, but Watson is getting killed behind a crap-tier O-line in Huston.

Understood, as championships are a more team oriented thing.

His playoff performances are not overwhelming either. 2017 was his best year, only rating over 100, as the other years are sub-90. Even the year they went to the SB, his playoff stats were not much better than his regular season ones. His rushing also dropped considerably in the playoffs. Of his nine full seasons, four were playoff runs. A less than 50% playoff rate is not really challenging for championships.

That game illustrates my earlier point perfectly .... If Newton had played more disciplined in that game he might have been able to overcome the brutal Denver pass-rush without the turnovers.

That's why the 2020 Pats scare me ... pretty sure both Tampa AND NE got better after Brady leaving.

The same Andy Reid that constantly got in his own way and found ways to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory? Since I'll need to spell it out. Its both. Reid is a very smart offensive mind. Without him, Mahomes probably wouldn't have had his 50/5000 year, and he probably wouldn't already have a ring. Without Mahomes, Reid would still be a couldn't win a Super Bowl coach, seeking his next QB project. Who fucking cares. Without Terrell Davis, Elway ends up with zero rings. Without Brady I bet Belichick is closer to Reid pre-Mahomes than Shula (mean Walsh). Without Belichick, I bet Brady is Philip Rivers.

That play call was almost as bad as the Seahawks passing at the goal line. Why they didn't just sneak it I have no fucking clue. Cam could have easily stretched the ball over the goal line. Instead they do like a shitty delayed run. Just dumb.

No doubt he had a good year. He had his highest rating, still sub 100. His completion percentage was still less than 60%. One year is nice, but that is in no way a championship challenging career.

I agree about Watson ... in fact I picked him to be the best out of the current crop of "young-guns" in the NFL in that poll-thread on here awhile back. Obviously Mahomes has taken that honor (as of today) but Watson is a solid number 2 IMO.

As for Jackson only time will tell ... however if Steve Deberg and Jim Plunkett have rings ... and they do ... he could certainly end up with one! (or more)
