The problem with Apple is that it's clear that they've hit a limit in terms of how high they can go with pricing on iPhone, while it's not really clear if there's any room for unit growth anymore. They actually sold less iPhones in Q4.

They raised asp by 15% to over 700 which is way higher than any other phone manufacturer.

Also they did not sell "less phones" they missed estimates by how many phones they would make (still way more phones than the year before) and made 78 Million instead of 80 . But the phones they sold were 15% more expensive so they ended up making way more money anyway.

This Macrumors article says they sold 77 versus 78 the previous year. (versus 74 in 2015). The price increase is basically how their earnings grew versus last year.

No, their earnings grew because they increased revenue from services, macs, and iPhones. Every single part of their business grew except iPads.

So what if they sold .6% less iPhones in one single quarter? Why would their valuation not increase merely because of that one small statistic which clearly has no impact on their profits?

You are technically correct in that they sold a fractional percentage less iPhones in this quarter but that is immaterial to their future valuation.

MU 53 calls sold for almost 10 grand at open.

I think I'm taking most of this week off unless I get the itch to trade a little. I haven't decided yet.

Should've bet my life savings on SHLD when it was $2

Should have bet your life savings on AAPL when it reached $2 or AMZN when it hit $0.50. No use kicking yourself over maybes in the market.

immediately: 5% drop in stock price

I wish everyone success in their trades, but I disagree with buying AMD. While I probably do not know as much as I need to, I do not think the next earnings report will cause the stock to rally much beyond $10.

That being said, is there any particular reason why you think AMD might start its journey back to its old high of $18 and beyond? Also Sell April 26 what? Puts, calls or the stock itself?

I am currently short puts and calls on MU ending this week, hoping for volatility to close both sides profitably.

Lisa Su moved the earnings report before intel (and a week earlier than they usually report) for the first time in over a year. That, along with reports on Epyc server adoption (and resulting marketshare increases for AMD) will make this earnings report a huge beat.

Short interest is huge, the highest it's been since early 2016. Maybe the highest ever. There will be a short squeeze.

You are looking at 20% or better returns in 7 days simply from buying the stock

I'm not feeling a huge sell off late today.

I want my MU to get bought out. I need cash, lots of it. If it doesn't get bought out but stays above my basis I might sell it anyway. I don't think I'd sell at a loss but I might change my mind.

Nobody took my AMD tip? There is still time to buy and make money. Anything under $10.50 is gravy

So far up 3% today but it's got another 20% or so to climb.

I'm waiting until it drops to below $9 a share.

You had your chance to buy it at 9$ a few weeks ago. You will never get a chance to buy it at 8. You missed out. <9$ is unrealistic even with vast amounts of manipulation. The stock should never have been below 11$ this year the only reason it was was because of institutional shorting.

My magic 8 ball says it will.

Expecting a profitable and successful company with a huge roadmap of new products to return to the share price it was at years ago when it was facing bankruptcy and losing hundred of millions of $ every quarter is unrealistic.

What exactly do you think will send AMD under 8$? Do you think their products will be failures? Do you think the whole market will crash and send AMD down with it?
