What do you think of this trade, who would you go with?
Melvin Gordon and Carson Palmer (I have)
for
Latavius Murray and Matt Stafford
Looking for opinions. I'm leaning towards the trade right now.
Thanks
Gordon was chunking last week, 2 or more runs of 20+ yards. Some reputable sites are saying to sell high on Woodhead non-ppr and I agree. The main issue with Melvin is when will he get red zone carries? So far it's:
RB Touches: Melvin Gordon (17, 17) and Danny Woodhead (16, 13)
Redzone Carries: Danny Woodhead (6, 1) Melvin Gordon (0, 0)
Gordon has the talent to take more away from Woodhead, but Woodhead is so dam good in passing downs that Gordon realistically only has 1st/2nd down value and no current red zone value. That could change in the future though. Being on a good to very good team, Gordon also has the 18% boost in carries that winning teams' RBs will experience when they burn clock so that is very good.
Latavius is a top 5 graded PFF back right now, and a rare every down back to boot. He is an asset for sure.
Run blocking, Oakland (15th worst) is better than SD (9th worst) so advantage Latavius.
Stafford sucks and Palmer is very good this year so I hope Stafford wouldn't be your starting quarterback. Palmer is getting significantly better pass pro from his team right now. Stafford is the worst graded QB right now and Palmer is the 4th best. Yikes.
It depends on your record and needs. Latavius is a fantastic every down asset who can score TDs. Gordon will probably blossom later in the season and his coach claims he'll get red zone carries but we haven't seen it happen yet. Stafford is actually a QB I would drop in all leagues, he's playing that bad. So Latavius for Gordon and Palmer = you're giving up too much. Tell him to sub out Stafford with another player.
