And that was one nutty game.
I'd call it a team effort with a lot of luck. If Manning hadn't made that last drive work, the defense might have gotten that turnover/touchdown, but I doubt it.

Edit: It was under 2 minutes at that point, so no there would have been no turnover/touchdown, just knees. 😱

Part of the reason I didn't make predictions this week was I was afraid I'd have to call for the Chiefs over the Broncos. I'm glad I didn't. 🙂

Chiefs were up, ~2 mins left, thought game was in bag so I turned off my car and went inside gas station to get coffee and then fill up my car.

Started car right after and game changed completely. 😱

Messy defensive game for most of it, but was better than I thought it would be.

You stopped following a Peyton Manning game in the last two minutes so you could get GAS?

Fucking A. I wrote off the Broncos early; Manning is looking old this year. But damn. That was good stuff.

Dude, he came back and played well for a dude who had 4 neck surgeries -- and its not like they were 0-1 coming into last night's game.

The only think I personally wrote off was their running game and that change in philosophy.

To your point, though, that was in large part because Manning is "old" and his arm tired out last season so they want to keep it fresh.

Ultimately, Chiefs lost that game more so than the Broncos winning it.

Lol@Alex Smith

lol @ Andy Reid.

Something came out of that game that I didn't know about. They had only 7 passes over 7 yards or something silly like that? I can understand conservative play-calling as I am a proponent of that, but they're going to extremes with it.

Why would any WR want to go play there now?

Yeah, but he actually looked good for a small part of this game. So I have a little faith that he just wasn't quite game ready yet... and it took ~1 3/4 games to get there. I also think there's a decent part that is coming from poor pass coverage and he just doesn't throw well when he's hurried. Never has since he's been in Denver, so that's not new. Still, if Denver goes far this season it probably won't be because of a record setting offense this time. I'm okay with that.

What a bunch of fucking retards. You are looking to put up a third score which would end the game as much as you could for it being in the first half still, then decide to commit screwup after screwup and spot them a bunch of points on top of that. Broncos has no right winning that and it took a choke of a choke job for the score to end as it did.

Well, that goes without saying. 🙂 I just had to lol at Alex SSSmith's throw though. 😉

still looked better than PFM all night...holy crap that old man is done, no? 🙁

In other news, I'm sick of these east coast sports times! 😡

2 straight games where I've fallen asleep in the final quarter and missed some last-minute shenanigans.

Is Denver quite possible the worst team to start off at 2-0? Seems that way. (granted, their Defense is stellar, so I guess they aren't horrible. Just a noodle-armed Mr McGoo under center the last 12 or so starts.)

Big Injuries:
Terrell Suggs - Out for season - Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. I'm all for playing tough, but going after a guy's knees in the preseason is bush league.

I had Denver last night. I was watching the game and thought they were gonna lose. Crazy ending. Denver's offense just doesn't look right. They needed lucky defensive plays to bail them out two weeks in a row now.

Andy Reid being Andy Reid. This is what drove people nuts in Philadelphia. JUST RUN THE F'N BALL!

Eagles capsule review: Shitty first half. Good second half.

Releasing guard Evan Mathis looking like a really really bad idea right now. As for the Eagles secondary, they looked like last year's secondary which gave up huge play after huge play. I still have hope that they do well considering how hot they were the second half of the Eagles/Falcons game even if they didn't quite get the job done. If they can put up 4 quarters of that type of play, they have a chance to beat anyone in the league.

It didn't look right until they started letting Manning do what he's used to doing and dropped Kubiak's offense.

I don't think he's unstartable for real-life, but no way in hell I'd roll him out in a fantasy league unless I had to. The Broncos shouldn't let him throw any passes longer than 15-20 yards because they're all wounded ducks that have hang time longer than a punt. Demaryious Thomas is a big dude but PFM is going to get him killed throwing that shit up there and hoping he can highpoint the ball while being draped with 2-3 guys every time.

Peyton needs to get the yardage record and then hang it up after the season. There is something very obvious wrong with him at this stage. I did see a few throws and had a surprising amount of heat, but those were the exceptions and he struggled with power and release most of the game.

They've won against Baltimore and KC, so I wouldn't say they're horrible. Those are a couple of pretty good defenses. I do believe they're probably good enough to make the conference championship.

I honestly don't think he'll make it. He's going to take a few major hits and get a concussion then it'll be all over. He'll never get released from the protocol if he gets put on it this year, and with good reason due to his existing neck problems. My prediction is that the best chance Peyton has to win another ring will be with Brock Osweiller at QB.

I do think their defense is currently good enough to carry them far (hello Baltimore SB 1), but Peyton isn't just throwing short, weak passes, he's also making some very un-Peyton decisions telegraphing his throws. He's overhtrowing and underthrowing his receivers all over the place. It's really strange, and seems much worse than the final half of the previous season.

Worst part is that the word is already out: safeties are just sitting back and spying on him, expecting short hanging throws in a very limited part of the field. He's already got 4 INTs and and 2 pick-6s to open the season.

He's still crumbling like a frightened child whenever an opposing DE encroaches on his personal space, so I'm worried that one solid hit will end it for good.

Yeah, his line play was terrible last night and it forced him into a lot of bad throws and decisions. IIRC, one of the graphics from the game last night showed that only 1 member of the starting OL was a starter last year. Everyone else from last year is gone or in the case of Clady, lost for the season.

The Broncos offense has a few obvious flaws, no running game, no reliable third receiver in the middle or short routes. The biggest flaw is the OL, which crumbles too easily for Manning to throw, so they have to put tight ends in there for extra protection, not catching the ball.

And the center is a rookie. The offense in Denver, I think, is only going to get worse as the year progresses.

Well, who knows. Maybe those kids can grow and gel some, but that line is terrible right now.
