2006 world cup he played injured.
2010 England did not play well as a whole
2014 Played the first game out of position. Second game he played in his preferred position and scored.

Not bad if you ask me.

Tim Cahill has 5 goals in World Cup Finals with Australia....Other than Euro 2004 he (Rooney) has under performed.

I disagree, but whatever.

Oh, and Tim Cahill is underrated. He is a very good player, I've watched him for many years when he played for Everton.

A NHL goal is 6' x 4' and a FIFA goal is 24' x 8'. Stfu. You continue to show your lack of sports knowledge. I guess I was naive to think it was just related to football.

The goalie was right there, he had the ball. I am only talking about this one specific goal not like every single goal. Some goalies in this World Cup look amazing. Others, namely this English goalie today, not so much.

There have been several other goalies in this world cup that have looked pretty bad too, and let in some pretty week goals.

Pure reflexes I just think NHL goalies are superior on that front. I could be completely wrong. I am certainly no soccer aficionado and certainly don't know this game that well. I'll admit that. I'll admit it could just be how I see it on TV as well as I would not go to a soccer match IRL, that would be a waste of money.

I still know real football better then you though as I live in a town with a team that I have had season tickets to for longer then you've even been out of school 😛

I'm assuming Mr. Amdzen has never seen a football goal in real life

Not of world cup caliber. It's true this could very well be the reason why that particular goal looked weak. But it's not the only super weak goal I've seen this world cup. Tim Howard would have made that save 😛

Disappointed in England's loss but I think the most important issue in this game was unrelated to either side. Here is a game where someone had their head hit by a knee, and he was knocked unconscious and yet got to stay in the game. It's high time that FIFA requires players like this to be taken off the field for a concussion test, and if deemed to have one, the side should be allowed an additional sub.

He was made to leave the field and was checked by his medical staff, could he have talked his way back on? Sure, but his play latter on showed he was fine (He had a great clear/tackle shortly after he came back on)

And a second concussion, god forbid, could have left him daim bramaged...

Why should they add this exception when for other game-ending injuries they still have the same max 3 sub limit? Coaches take a risk when they use all 3 substitutions...

3 is usually sufficient, the reason I think that should be put in for concussions only, is because it is a particular type of injury that is often allowed to continue play. I'd rather not see coaches opting to keep on potentially concussed players either because they think they are uninjured, or because they do not want to waste a sub on them.

Other major injuries in soccer tend to force the issue of substitution, or at the very least the player is off the pitch, but not concussions.

He seemed to talk his way back on from what I saw, which shouldn't be possible in any sport if it is a head related injury.

Still, Uruguay had some amazing goals. Greece just managed to survive with only 10 for a majority of the game. Good games all around.

Having not seen the Greece/Japan game, i'm assuming it was a greek bus parked in front of their net with one striker out wide?

I meant goal as in the physical goal and its size

So what are your predictions for USA Portugal on Sunday?

As the minority here representing Portugal, I have no clue

If they play like they did against Germany, USA might actually win... But the thing is, I dont know if Portugal played that badly because of themselves, or because Germany didnt allow them to play the way they normally do

The thing that really frustrates me about Portugal is how inconsistent they are... They can be either one of the best teams in the world or absolute shit
You might as well throw a coin for the USA game, and the result will depend on which one you get

Yeah Portugal looked bad, but then Germany is the team most likely to win the cup, so maybe that match is not the right way to judge Portugal.

Ronaldo has caught a lot of flak

The US team is an average one. I guess like you, I don't have a clue either about how it will go.

Ronaldo is not a team and the team didn't show up in the last game.
(Not directed at you, just a general statement).

So I'm thinking England is cheering for Italy in this first match? That way they at least have a shot if they can beat Costa Rica in their final group game (and if Uruguay loses to Italy). Have to make up some differential too.

Definitely looking forward to the early match today.
