Obviously rooting for USA, but my realistic picks/roots are Germany and Uruguay. I like the way they play. Skillful on the ball and passing in the opponent's third, combined with physical play. Spain puts me to sleep.

I've read that Germany is unlikely. One of their best players just suffered an injury and is out for the WC.

However, they still have a lot of good players that can change a game around by themselves. ;)

Soccer just doesn't excite me. I'll probably watch the final game just because I watch all major sporting events.. But I give 0 fux about who wins, or who is in it.

Soccer is the second best sport in the world. Best being tennis ofcourse

As someone once said, soccer is a simple game. 22 men run after a ball for 90 minutes and in the end Germany wins :)

Very excited that the WC is finally here, can't wait for tomorrow!

Brazil is definitely going to be tough at home, but something tells me they're going to trip up at some point and not win the whole thing. Several teams have shown how to effectively neutralize Spain's style, so I don't think they'll repeat. Argentina always seems to stumble in the middle rounds, and I don't think Messi will be enough to avoid that fate this year. England is perpetually overrated, and both Italy and France appear to be a little down the time around.

I'm gonna go with Germany to win it all.

I'm always amazed at some of the odds for this kind of stuff. I mean, Iran is 2000-1. You'd have to be nuts to bet that... it should be more like 50,000 to 1 or something to make it really worth your while, because the reality is that unless every other squads plane goes missing flight 370 style, they won't be winning anything.

There is almost 0% chance that we'll get out of our group (USA). What a terrible draw for USA, two of the top teams in the world and Ghana who is the proverbial thorn in our side. I still taste the bitterness from last time when we all thought "there's no way we can lose to a third world country". Think again, its soccer.

I was always of the mindset of "it's soccer; there's no way we can beat a third world country."

Why do soccer officials not try and tidy the game up?

Diving - red card
Abusing officials - red card

I would think it's simple.

FIFA sets the rules, not the referees. If the referee was being abused he can send the player off.

Man that was bullshit. Croatian guy got his head on the ball and the goalie was barely touched. Should have been a Croatian goal.
