***Official*** 2013 Stock Market Thread

Booya... Missed out on huge gains last year, but finished "ahead", which is better than the "barely ahead" last year.

Still out and now want back in. Looking at putting a good chunk of money in preferred banks shares -- I am pussy. Currently looking at BAC and WFC.

What's everyone's feeling on INTC?

with them throwing support behind android, the x86 power myth busted article here, and the heavy mobile focus of haswell, I feel like they have a good chance in mobile.

I don't see amd providing much competition in the foreseeable future. Don't know how to take the news of otellini leaving tho.

Happy I still have F but im pretty sad that right when I sold C it has skyrocketed. Stupid bank stocks.

I lost so much on C that I figured I may as well keep the little stock I have in place in case it ever recovered. Very happy I did that!

Got into F yesterday at 13.17 - I'm quite a happy chap.

Another big gainer in the past few months has been MU - not sure whether it's a good time to jump ship though.

Excited to see this continue another year.

I'm still long Sprint - I think they could break the $6 mark soon.

Would love to see more in depth stock discussions here. The thread over at FWF has turned in to a Apple love/hate thread.

On that note, I'm looking to expand my pool of investing ideas. I'm thinking blogs, Twitter feeds, etc. If anyone has some they would be willing to share I would love to see them

Still holding one of my biggest earners (KFN). Someone had recommeneded it in the 2011 thread I think. It's massive ~8% dividend and only ~60% payout ratio is hard to ignore.

Still long my biggest gamble (BP). I think it will jump bigtime once the EPA fine is levied and paid. The company has ~38 billion available to pay it. If the fine is less, the excess will be used for share buybacks.

My other longs are the regional banks, like FMER and HBAN. If housing is improving as they say they should see growing income. Many banks failed during the crises. Those that survive will be stronger.

I made a quick buck on BP buying right after spill and selling shortly thereafter, but it was only a couple hundred shares.

Anyone holding any PSK? It's a preferred bank shares ETF with a ~6.5% dividend, which is roughly how much preferred shares at popular banks give.

Not interested in buying actual shares because they appear to be callable at any time, despite supposedly having no call date and being perpetual -- something something, if there's a major "event", they are legally allowed to call them within 30 days in the fine print.

that may have been me 🙂 KFN was one of my favs - I divested not long ago thinking they wouldn't go up much more - made most of my gains through KFN...

So wasn't OCZ supposed to release Q3 earnings yesterday? I don't think they even released Q2 yet.
