What's everyone's feeling on INTC?

with them throwing support behind android, the x86 power myth busted article here, and the heavy mobile focus of haswell, I feel like they have a good chance in mobile.

I don't see amd providing much competition in the foreseeable future. Don't know how to take the news of otellini leaving tho.
They sport a nice 4% dividend yield; I'd be interested at $18 or $19. The PC market is weaker than anybody expected and it's unclear if Intel can gain market share at ARM's expense.

Just sold a bunch of Ford stock for a nice 40% gain. Now hunting for a new stock to buy.

Buy FB. It will cross $35 some point this year (the IPO price), which is about 6 points of upside as of today or a 20% gain. Now that it is part of the Nasdaq 100, there is more liquidity.

A lot of the sell off had to do with fears of massive dilution and a PE that rivals its peers by far. It hit a low of $19 and recently recovered to $31.

Accumulate.

IPO was at $38.

Anybody irritated with the price action on NVDA? Considering how much cash they have on the books (~50% of market cap) + earnings/sales growth + Tegra prospects going forward + share gains against AMD in dGPUs, I find it difficult to believe that it's anywhere close to fairly valued here.

Intel mainly. I don't think it'll happen, but GT3e has the potiental to really mess with the mobile discrete market. And don't forget about the Xeon Phi invading nVidia's HPC space.

Is it worth the risk? Are there any couple dollar stocks worth buying in hopes of going up?

Guess that is part of the game 🙂

Any good books on methods possibly? Not looking to get rich right away, just want to understand how it works.
Do some research on INO,currently at 72 cents. There are a few articles on seeking alpha about the stock. They just got an upgrade this week with a $1.00 price target. This is my favorite speculation stock right now and I'm hoping for 2 bucks this year.

Ahhh, long term ... how does those usually work out? Are there sites where people guess which will turn out best?

What are options exactly? And a good starter book!
Just google options, there are many sites with good info, yahoo has a good site to learn about options. Most of the money I've made the past few years has been with buying and selling options.

long term, the best thing to do is just buy the whole stock market - and hold it for decades

vtsmx - total US stock market
vgtsx - total international stock market (everything but the US)
vbmfx - total US bond market

use those 3 to get the asset allocation you want. then rebalance to your desired asset allocation every year or two. its boring, but it works! you can add other asset types (ie reits, international bonds, small/value stock funds) if you feel like slicin and dicin 😀

(and you can still make individual investments, just do it with like %5 of your total portfolio tops)

dammit why oh why didn't I put more into RIMM!! I know they've been shite for years now but I was fully expecting this boost...

This probably isn't a bad idea, i'll put a few bucks into these guys. What timeline are they looking at?

All this talk about F...I bought it at $1.86 a few years back and sold it at $14. Sadly, I was scared and bought a putrid amount of shares. Still made a couple of thousand which was nice.

Who is playing the AMD earnings report tonight?

Back to the $1's with this one? Or back to the $3's?

Holy shit, AMD is down to the <$3 range? I remember owning it when i twas $8-$9 about a year or two ago.

I feel stupid for not going into RIM too... The ramp up in early January was almost guaranteed even without positive "analysts" giving any sort of praise. Been way too damn complacent since last August. Had all my money sitting as cash (not even 0.50% interest) for 5 months. FML.

hey peeps.... i am new to the risky business of day trading but am seeking a way to burn some money by doing some short-term quick investments where-in I offload a ton of money for a few days have some stocks grow with that money then pull it from the market.... is there a good application that I can do all of this from within? I am pretty new to the trading stuff (recently only utilized lifecycle funds where others did the work...) but I got some money to burn. I realize it could be super risky and I am willing to accept that considering possible big payoff... Is there an application/web GUI trading spot where I can get access to do large trades from within money linked to a checking account? trades that happen instantly? then have full control to sell all /few as desired?

Not sure if such a thing exists or how if you did this and amassed large quantities of $$$$ how you would claim the income or pay taxes (as I am sure uncle sam wants his slice) Any advice is appreciated.... do I have the market all wrong, are there minimums when it comes to time-frames I am unaware of? is this possible?

Most of the big brokerage firms offer something like this. Take Etrade for example, they are also a bank and you're accounts are linked. However there is no way to trade from your checking account, you would need to move funds into the brokerage. But, since that is within Etrade it effectively happens right then, or over night. Obvious reasons for this. You're not guaranteed 'instant' trades ever, but you'll get them quick enough most times with any decent broker. All depends on where you want to buy/sell at and what the stock does.

As for taxes, the firm will mail you your tax forms which has all the totals done. Think its a 1099 form. Also remember you can do a max of 3 day trades in a given week with a margin account, unless you have 25k or more in your account.
