LOL what a terrible game.

Oilers play like garbage for most of the game, then suddenly come alive and come back with four straight, only to give another up.

5-4 shootout win is a win, but wow, we have so many issues.
Goaltending? What goaltending...
And defensively horrible at times...

3-0 leads are the worst for the Devils. They stop doing what got them to 3-0 and start trying to protect the lead - which means spending as little time in the offensive zone as possible. Then we took a penalty and gave up a PPG, give up another when a defenseman lost his stick, give up another on a quick shot off the face-off.

But hey, at least we're not as bad as the Flyers. 😀

Oh man... Andrew Ference has scored more goals off his skates & legs than his stick.

Clearly Michael Ryder has angered the hockey gods by switching to Kovi's old number. Devils are doomed...

Rough night for Detroit's D corps.

That was an embarrassment. Wings were skating in quicksand and the Bruins were floating on air.

Didn't see it, I guess I should be glad I didn't.

Was traveling down here to Tampa, might try to hit up the lightning gamw Thursday night if time permits

I've gotten amped the past couple years for the start of hockey season, somehow I keep forgetting the Kings play like a junior B squad until about december or so.

Avalanche 3-0 for the first time in franchise history.

I can't believe with all those great teams in the 90's and early 2000's that we never went 3-0. Just glad it can come off the backs of the Maple Leafs

So disappointed that I was out of town and forced to miss the following:

1) Preds home opener against the Wild
2) First NHL goal by Filip Forsberg who was also assisted by first time NHL point recipient Seth Jones. Both are Calder hopefuls and will hopefully "battle" to the end.
3) Booing Suter every time he touched the puck

Oh well. I made some good cash on my tickets and should have a chance to get my fill of booing later this season. Have a feeling that will never get old...

It;s pretty obvious that the Toronto Maple Leafs are going to win the Stanley Cup for the 1st time since 1967 (I was 3 years old!). If they don't win than I want the Pittsburgh Penguins to win. I know I'm right about 1 of them.

I'll take the field on that bet. The winner will be coming out of the west again making it 3 years strait. That much is certain.

Roy: Knock knock
NHL: Who's there?
Roy: Foreign
NHL: Foreign who?
Roy: 4 and 0 baby!

I don't care if it's only 4 games, my team has me pumped.

Detroit Red Wings goaltender Jimmy Howard will have a slightly different look for Saturday’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Howard will don a mask that features large pink ribbons in recognition of breast cancer awareness month. His blocker and glove also will be accented in pink.

“There have been women I’ve known that have been (affected by the disease), so it means a lot to be able to do something like this.’’ - Jimmy Howard

Very cool!

Avalanche's speed gave Boston problems in the first. Damn Giguere stood on his head and slammed the door.

We'll see how far Patty's boys can go when it's time to grind...

Watching Downie on Chara all game had me rolling. The man has no fear.

I'm not sure what you mean by "when its time to grind" but we have several very gritty players. Downie is the perfect blend of skill and crazy, McGinn will hit anything, Landeskog will too. All four lines have grit and skill on them

LOL Nucks!!! Their team defense went to shit since Torts came into town. You can say all you want about getting use to the new system but that is a veteran team. They should figure crap out fast and know each other enough to make up for some system details.

Also, the Calder race this year is gonna very competitive. So many damn good rookies in the league right now.

Avs 1st team in NHL history to begin a season with 5 straight wins while allowing no more than 1 goal in each game

Avs one of 3 teams still undefeated. Three of the next best teams, the Ducks, Bruins, and TML's have one loss each, which was incurred against the Avs. So not only are we undefeated (yeah I know only 5 games in) but, it was against top teams!
