Devils signed Damien Brunner, 2 years $5 million.

We lost Kovalchuk and Clarkson (72 games of him at least 😀)
We added Clowe (>= Clarkson as long as he is healthy), Jagr, Ryder, Brunner, Schneider.

I'm feeling pretty good about the Devils this year.

He has a good shot, isn't very good defensively and seemed really winded during the 2nd half of last year (mind you he had already played close to 40 games is the Swiss league) He really came on during the playoffs when he played on the 3rd line.

Sad to see him go. Gonna be an all star forward within a couple of years.

Not much room on the wings roster these days though.

Sammy needs to retire and get out of the way already. Sorry old buddy, we love ya and know you want to die with a winged wheel on, but you're not pulling your weight these days.

Kessel was suspended for the rest of the preseason and no regular season games. I figured he'd get one maybe two regular season games, because preseason games are essentially a non-suspension for anyone who already has a spot on the roster.

BTW, I would like to add that there were over 15000 people at the Preds opening preseason game. This may be normal for some of the big time markets but I was shocked at how many people showed up. We could barely get this many a few years ago at a regular season game.

Great to hear!

Jack Edwards is the worst homer broadcaster in the league (or very near there).
That was just embarrassing to listen to, seriously, what a fool.

Very weak punishment...

The fine to Buffalo's coach still has me scratching my head.

The NHL said Rolston was fined for "player selection and team conduct" after putting six-foot-eight enforcer John Scott on the ice after a fight between Toronto's Jamie Devane and Buffalo's Corey Tropp.

Everything I've seen shows Scott was already on the ice. WTF???

Tropp - Devane bout. Scott is the LW.

Whether he put him on the ice or left him on the ice doesn't really make a difference. There was a face off, so he picked the line that took it.

As for whether it was deserved? Well, Scott was obviously out there for a revenge fight (or apparently the whole line was out there for a line brawl). And none was warranted, because Tropp asked for the fight. Devane did nothing wrong. Rolston left Scott out there for a revenge fight that shouldn't have happened, escalating a situation that should have never been escalated. I have no problem with him being punished for that.

What's bush league is all of the fighting and cheap shots that have happened during the preseason. That'll happen when you fill the rosters with guys who have no business being in the NHL, like John Scott.

Rolston gets fined for "player selection". For leaving Scott out on the ice.

Fined. Disciplined by the league for icing an enforcer.

You're really OK with that?!

Was I not clear the first time? In a preseason game, leaving him out there for the purpose of escalating a situation that should not have been escalating, causing a line brawl, yes I'm ok with that.

I don't know why you're confused about the fine being for player selection. Do you think players decide whether they stay on the ice for the next face off? Whether they stay on the ice or change lines, it's the coach's decision.

Perfectly clear. Dick.

Coaches and players do it all the time. Fined for it? Rarely.

I think the fine is stupid, especially considering Toronto being the home team got to choose what line to send out in response to Scott. That said, the fine itself was a slap on the wrist, just like the "suspension" to Kessel. $10k to Rolston, no regular season games to Kessel.
