It is important that they get the #5 seed. If they get the #6 seed then they will likely have to play either the Patriots or the Broncos on the road which will be their doom.

Doesn't matter, they won't win in the playoffs. As I've said, the Colts are simply at the top of the mediocre and bad teams in the AFC. I can't seriously see them beat any of the AFC division winners in the playoffs. The only team I can see them standing a chance against would be the Ravens (I'm assuming Pitt wins the AFC North) and even that would be a longshot.

/facepalm

Defense wouldn't have even had to be get back on the field b/c NE would have been able to run out the clock.

I felt bad for Caldwell because I know Pats fans everywhere were spitting venom at him. I remember the guy's face after that play and how upset he was. The guy made a mistake but one additional play by your defense could've won the game as well. It is a team game after all. Do you guys heap the same scorn on Rodney Harrison for not stopping Tyree from pinning the ball on his helmet?

When teams blow huge leads, there is PLENTY of blame to go around, not just point at one guy and say "He cost us the game!" If you want to seriously say that, you can point to any number of defensive plays and make the same argument. If Asante Samuel tips one more pass, maybe the Pats win the game. Remember the juggling catch Wayne made? Maybe the two defenders next to him could've knocked that pass down.

As another example, take the Colts loss to Jacksonville earlier this year. They lost in the closing seconds because Cassius Vaughn lost the Jags receiver and he got an easy 80 yd TD. He caught a lot of flack for that play (deservedly so), but IIRC, the Colts were up by 2 TDs and should not have relinquished that lead to the Jags. Vaughn certainly contributed to that loss but when you lose a 2 TD lead, there are plenty of plays you didn't make which helped you lose. Vaughn (and in your case Caldwell) are just the convenient scapegoats (or in the immortal words of Emmitt Smith, "escape goats"). If the game was close the entire way and the lead was changing or a team was within 7 points the whole way, then Vaughn or Caldwell may deserve it. But with huge leads evaporating, plenty of bad plays happened.

Oh crap, I forgot Leftwich was playing tonight. I may have been premature in saying the Steelers were going to win and take charge of the AFC North.

I think it is safe to say that if you're an NFL team in Pennsylvania, your throwback uniforms suck.

OK, just read it on ESPN, said he broke it during an extra point with 3:55 left in the 4th Qtr, he's been nursing along a hip injury the last 5 weeks, WTF was he on the field for a goddam extra point in a rout game, smart Bill..

Bad news but still good news. As long as he is back for the playoffs.
I don't think they need him to get to the post season. Now the Pats have to shoot for the bye week.

Huh? they still have to play Miami twice and SF yet, this will only energize the Dolphins more knowing their chances of winning just got better..

With four TEs, not sure why Gronk is on any special teams.

When was the last time a player broke his arm on an extra point?

Gronk is on special teams because thats the Bellycheck way. Everyone does everything. Its why the Pats overcome injuries. There are guys who not just practice other roles but play them.

Just watch next week Woodhead, or Slater, or Nate Solder will be out there playing tight end like a Pro Bowler.
Though if it really came to it, I bet Riddley or Vereen could play a good tight end.

Again, you have four tight ends, you don't need your best offensive player outside of Brady on special teams especially since he's been dealing with injuries all season.

And based on how Fells, Shanicoe(sp?) and Hoosman have been non-factors it's a huge huge blow to the offense since not only for his catching but his blocking ability. Gronk was only thrown at 7 times today, 7 catches and 2 TDs.

Gosh, all you have to do is look at what happened during the SB without a healthy Gronk.

Dude, Nate Solder is a good offensive lineman, he will not take a single snap as a TE, I can see you don't understand the TE position, you have to run block, screen block, and run routes and catch balls, Ridley, Vereen, Woodhead, too small to block except on a blitz pickup. Gronk could do all that AND was practically unstoppable catching the ball...

Yup, they tried to make it look like he was OK to go but the Giant's figured he was gimped by the third snap and not much of a threat.

Someone explain to me the logic of the 2:04 time out. Either way the clock is going to stop twice - once for the time out, noce for the 2 minute warning. So it saves you 4 seconds. Figure the next play takes 10 seconds - 2 minute warning happens at 1:54. If you didn't take the time out before the 2 minute warning, you take it after the play at 1:50.

The downside is that the Ravens know they can only burn 4 seconds off the clock, so on 3rd and 7 there's no reason to run the ball anymore. On the other hand if Pittsburgh still had the time out, Baltimore would maybe run to force Pittsburgh to burn it.

Baltimore is lucky Big Ben is out for their games versus the Steelers, Leftwich did not look good at all throwing the ball tonight.

Leftwich looked horrible tonight, especially on the second to last play. I'm playing against Baltimore's D and Byron's rust just made it too easy. Sacksacksacksack.

Seriously, that last throw he attempted was embarrassing. But what's the alternative...Charlie Batch to save the day?

I was making a point and not really suggesting those guys.
Remember Mike Vrabel the linebacker catching passes?
I'm sure the Pats have a plan.
Also, Hernandez is supposed to getting ready to come back.
And get used to the name Michael Hoomanawanui he is supposed to be very talented but raw.

The Pats are 7-3. If every other team in their divison wins out the last 6 games they only go 10-6. If the Pats beat the Jets Thursday its over barring a complete collapse.

The Steelers are going nowhere without Big Ben, does not matter which mediocre backup QB starts for them.
