Mannings record in the post season makes it hard to pick the Broncos to go to the Super Bowl. Manning has been in the playoffs more than almost any other qb. Yet he managed to get to the big game only twice. Compare that to Bradys 5 times.

While Manning doesn't choke in the playoffs he always seems to have that one game that he's off and his team loses.

Plus he's probably got to get past Brady, who is the most clutch post season player ever. Brady has made the Super Bowl like 5 out of 10 times he's made the playoffs. And that's in the same conference as Manning is in. That's a record that may never be broken.

Brady has a rather diluted playoff record. Ever since their last win, Brady has been pretty shitty. Probably a factor of how many games they have actually played, his playoff record is pretty much lousy compared to his overall career. Shockingly lousy, even.

Eli Manning is far, far more clutch than Brady in the postseason. He's also one of the most mediocre QBs in history, through the regular season, unlike Brady.

Ok, here's a dumb question.
Is it easier to breathe at high altitudes when its cold?

Technically the air becomes less dense when its cold and thus theoretically it would be easier to breath. However, I don't think it would matter to anyone that doesn't live here and isn't already used to the altitude.

I know for me personally, when I'm hiking a 14'er or something in the summer, at about 10k it becomes a physical feat and breathing becomes strained for me. Where as when I'm hunting on a mountain in the winter around the same height, I can breathe easier and find the physical strain less for me personally. However, I don't know if that is actually the density of the air or the temperature by itself, as I prefer colder weather and prefer to be cold when I exercise or do physically exerting activities. Hate the summer.

All that being said, I doubt it makes a lick of difference to the Ravens whom are arriving tomorrow night around 6 pm MST, less then 24 hours before game time. Which IMO is a mistake, however I understand the line of thinking - instead of acclimating to the altitude they are coming in with the mindset of leaving it all out there at game time. Makes sense but I think it would be easier on the oldies of the Ravens to practice here for a couple days, although probably not feasible.

Ordinarily I think our altitude is made too much of as an advantage in most cases. IN this instance I think it is a slight advantage given the defense playing 87 plays last week and having 5 days to rest on a relatively short week for them, all given their age.

Not one of Manning's super bowl teams in Indi had a top 5 defense, and probably not even top 10 although I will have to go back to look at that again to confirm.

I think you mean it becomes more dense, but with less moisture. What happens to a tire in cold weather vs hot?

One main issue is the difference in air temp vs lung temp, which creates the burning effect. Baclavas help to warm it up when mouth breathing. Also, it should be mentioned that lung capacity is lower in colder air. Although I doubt it'll affect these athletes.

They were 10-6, not 9-7. Also, you're getting their defense last year confused with the one from 2 years ago.

In 2010, when they went 10-6, they were 9th in total defense, 5th in passing defense, and 2nd in points allowed. In 2011, they were 32nd (NFL-worst) in yards allowed, both total yards and passing yards, and 19th in points allowed. Their one defensive saving grace in 2011 was interceptions, where they led the league with a ridiculous 31.

And what do you know, the 2010 Packers, who weren't as good throughout the year but got hot at the very end of the season and had some balance between offense and defense went on to win the Super Bowl. Then in 2011, they went totally nuts on offense and ignored their defense, and they couldn't even win one playoff game.

Interceptions are a highly random stat and the Packers regressed to the mean starting with that playoff game against the Giants last season.

You should really stop bragging about your superior football knowledge when you can't even get the names right of the players on the Ravens, and when you make statements like the bold. Ray Lewis is ancient, Ed Reed is getting up there. Other than those 2, the defense isn't old.

Ahhh right. I don't think it's noticeable regardless. I think most athletes prefer to play in the cold though, especially on defense.

Yea, but 15-1 with a horrible defense is impressive. Defense helps, but ever since the passing game blew up on the NFL scene, defense is no longer the "defense wins championships".

The kansas city chiefs were 10-6 and made the playoffs in 2010... I don't remember that.

You're right, they aren't as old as most people think. But your two best players are still ancient and I have seen a noticeably drop off in play a lot of weeks in Ed Reed. I think it will matter that its a short week, long flight, mile high, Flacco away is terrible, etc. And in context, you forgot that I said it would be a "slight advantage" given all of that, not a massive one.

Meanwhile our oldest, Champ Bailey has been as rock solid this year as he has ever been.

AMDZen you are massively underestimating the Ravens. What happened earlier in the season is all but irrelevant. IMO this will be a close game. I could be wrong though.

This game is so tough for me. On one hand I hate the Ravens, but on the other hand I really want AMDZen to look like an idiot when Denver loses. I think I'll root for the Ravens in this one.
