IHMJ,

I lurk this thread... While I don't disagree with your methods of investing (sometimes I disagree with your assumptions and conclusions and how you arrived at them, but not always), you've got an almost cult-like fervor toward Warren Buffett (mentioned in every other post it seems) and value investing in general. Let me re-iterate that I am a value investor myself, but I don't think pontificating from your soapbox and holding court in this thread is going to help anyone. Acting holier-than-thou and preaching the "one-true-way" and waging war against the heretics is going to turn people away from what your underlying message about intrinsic value, what it means, and why price follows value. In other words, your approach to educating others and, at the very least, making your point, is all wrong.

I know its a god given right to act like a self-important jackass on the int4rpr0nz, but please dont exercise that right with everyone who comes into this thread with a different opinion than you. PliableMoose takes a different approach than a value investor, and it has worked for him (her?). From the results he posted, it looks to be more than luck, as it was sustained over a period of time. Value Investing is not the "one-true-way". Bamacre invests in gold. I don't understand gold, so I dont invest in it. It doesnt make everyone else wrong. I understand IV and free cash flow, it works for me. It doesnt mean its the only thing that will work for everyone else.

Lets keep a healthy discussion on diverse investing methods going in here instead of just prosecuting heretics. You might learn something, IHMJ ... Then again, good cult members can rarely be reprogrammed.

Great post!

Yeah, I'd give Apple guidance for you peeps, but getting trolled just flat pissed me off...

I've owned BRK A more than once, I'd rather hold bonds.

Grabbed a couple things (Apple being one of them) this morning, all be it after the market opened. One name i've been in and out of all year (ISRG) was just to tempting to let it pass me by. Of course, all this means is that the market will revert tomorrow and any gains from today will be going bye bye....

Oh, and btw, completely agree Mayor. To each their own. Use what you know to make your money and if someone wants to learn about it, teach'em.

Pliablemoose,

1) not trolling you
2) done debating you
1+2) We've both said our piece. Let's move on.

Post away. I have no idea what earnings will be so I have no input or debate to enter. I've already given my long term sentiment on Apple. I don't need to reiterate it. IPhone 5 is around the corner. What is it? October release date?

ASIDE: I think one of the posters here is a co-worker just trying to get under my skin.

Meh, screw it.

I tried using the ignore feature & stuff still gets quoted, this thread is essentially useless because of what's getting posted.

Down $90/oz in real time. Add to this the increased vol which is going to bring in more increases in carrying and variance margin and hello collapse.

Fortunately the day is still young, so i still have a chance to be right. Also nice to see GS bouncing a little. Still taking a bath on that one though. And to think, at one point I was in the black....

Very much expected. Nothing goes up that high that fast without seeing a strong correction. Very much needed and very healthy in the longer run. Buying opportunity for those who wanted in. Nibble, bite harder as it falls.

Team Azurik (I just made that up from lack of creativity calling it something else) jumped on eMamba (EMBA) yesterday... looks like a slow trickle-down promo going on. Bought in at .32, we shall see.

see what? You posted this when it was already up 35% if you actually bought when you did. Did you post because you expect it to go up more or just to brag?

Who are you again? Go read the last 5 years worth of the stock threads and if you ask new questions, I'll answer them.

I'm not going to torpedo my subscribers by posting ALL my trades here in real-time, but I can mention it up later for people who are interested and wants to watch. Never told anyone to buy/sell here.

I did the same thing with RYUN when I bought in the $0.20's and posted here when it was in the high $0.30's - it eventually ran up to $2.40+. So watch and observe if you want or just ignore my post.

Wow I'm not getting this market at all right now. Both Asia markets and US futures were down but we have big run up at the end of the day. Did gold really have that much effect by going down 5%?

Truth: No one knows why the markets act like they do on a daily basis. The CNBC headline tries to correlate but they are just trying to make money.

Guess: Bernacke is speaking on Friday. With it we will hear that there are no plans for QE2 and that the recover is happening but at a slow pace.

Truth: Stocks are cheap right now. Moving from cash/equivilents into stocks right now is a smart move. Based on this truth (stocks are cheap), it could by hypothesized that people are moving out of gold which has been viewed as a cash equivilent by some.

Hope no one got into gold at 1900.....

This is what happens when things go parabolic... see my prior posts on gold recently.

Meh, you all said the same thing when it hit 1500. You're going to gloat over a 4.2% drop? I'd hate to see how scared you run for mommy when a good stock loses 10% in a day.

Don't make them compare a 1yr gold chart versus a 1yr DOW chart. :)

Or worse, 5yr charts.

The stock market experiences mass immigration and exodus during times of great uncertainties and unknown. The last few weeks was both smart investors and weak hands running out the door, with or without reason. There are many people in cash equivalent positions. Holdings in such positions I am guessing is only short term. When the dust storm settles we'll see the opposite happen, with much of the money coming back into the equity market. People are sheeple for the most part. I have my bets that in the medium term 5-10yrs what's happening right now won't matter and my stocks will be just fine. I am adding to my stakes as I see fit.

The biggest winners in times like this are traders, not investors imo. Volatility presents an opportunity both longs and shorts.

Good luck to AAPL buyers tomorrow and for the next bit. Company's solid, but how many "investors" will freak out?

2 FRICKIN DAYS AGO!

F U Steve Jobs, F U (do hope he gets better though)

I would have thought his health was already baked into the stock price a little bit. Apparently, I was wrong. It looks like he is stayin on as a "chairman", but this spanks the stock none the less as everyone will freak out.
