just came back from my Atlantic city mini-vacation. I entered 2 $100 buy-in daily poker tournaments, made it to the final table in both, but only cashed in one, chopped 3 way and got $800. anyway, sold 1/2 of my holding in KBLB few days ago for ~45% gain, had a feeling that day traders and filppers might sell out before the Conf Call on Friday 4:30pm. I will probably buy back either Friday or Monday morning.

Freescale agrees to pay a licensing fee to Rambus
Litigation ended as part of patent agreement
By Dean Wilson
Tue Jun 07 2011, 13:54

PATENT HOARDER Rambus has signed a patent licensing agreement with Freescale Semiconductor that covers Rambus memory controller and serial link patents.

The agreement brings to an end a lawsuit filed by Rambus against Freescale in December of last year for patent infringement. Freescale decided to settle with Rambus and pay a licensing fee instead of dragging the case through the courts, which might have ultimately proven more costly, particularly given Rambus' overall record of success at winning patent court cases.

Freescale uses the patented memory controllers and serial links at issue here in many of its integrated circuit logic products, which would have faced a possible import ban if the Rambus lawsuit was successful.

The agreement also covers Freescale's past use of the technology, ensuring that the company will not have to pay any fines for allegedly infringing Rambus patents. It's not clear if Rambus simply let the past infringement slide in order to reach the agreement or if the agreement involves a back payment of licensing fees for the period where Freescale was supposedly using unlicensed Rambus technology. Rambus is not talking about the terms of the agreement.

Rambus has gained a negative reputation in the past for its hoarding of patents and its many lawsuits against technology companies it accused of infringing them. When it brought its case against Freescale it also took on Broadcom, LSI, Mediatek and the GPU giant Nvidia, despite Nvidia having previously agreed to pay a licensing fee for other Rambus patents. Now that Freescale has buckled under the pressure, it's more likely that we'll see others signing deals with Rambus soon.

Financial terms of the agreement between Rambus and Freescale have not been revealed, but we can expect that Freescale paid a pretty penny for the ability to use Rambus patented technology in its products.

The agreement will last for five years, after which time the parties will negotiate a new deal.

I think thats what I hate most about this company and why I viewed them as nothing more than a patent troll. They buy companies and patents and just sue for revenue.

I need to start acquiring patents and start suing the hell out of everyone. It might work for me too.

edit: Sorry Azurick, I had to. ;)

You just had to, didn't you? ;)

They sued Nvidia twice since it's two different sets of technologoes. Nvidia ONLY paid on the first case because they were found guilt of infringing, not because they wanted to play nice.

And Rambus didn't hoarde the majority of their patents - most of it was built in-house (over 90%).

Sorry guys, no matter how one or two members here think of it, I would sue companies too in this situation.

I recommend AYX and LIO. Both are small gold exploration/mining companies. Based on market cap/ounce of resource, both companies should be trading at at least double of where they are.

I sold out, half last week and the rest today - probably could have waited as it looks like this will be pushed even higher, but profits are profits. Stock was RYUN, bounced from .24ish to .50 so far.

My team sold out completely... although it's still running. Over .80 now, crazy!

LBSR is my favorite junior miner / exploration company at the moment. I foolishly bought too much during the last run around .07 - rode the high up to .19 and didn't sell (rookie move not to take some profits and ride freebies) and the fall to .03ish. I doubled my position at .028, now at least sitting green at .053ish. It has been churning here for a while (a week or two), I'm curious if we'll get another summer run up if they actually do some test drilling and find out that ZTEM map is true and proves that all the metals are where they are supposed to be.

I think it's poised for a breakout, but I am extremely bias :)

I can't believe how high this has gotten with little promotion money. Hit $1.08!

The run up seemed tempting & I wish I bought some but then I read this:

There isn't too much information on the company other than the basic business idea, which is to sell mixed martial arts apparel. A post on the company's facebook profile suggests the first roll out of clothing should come soon.

RYUN's web site is a bit bare for now, but it does provide some information on the management of the company.

The company hasn't generated any significant revenues since its inception in 2008. It has, however, managed to accumulate about $681 thousand in current liabilities. As of Mar. 31, 2011 RYUN had just $448 cash to account for all the assets of the company.

The plan is for RYUN to outsource pretty much every aspect of its business including manufacturing, warehousing, product distribution, shipping needs. Even the design and development is outsourced to a consulting firm.

It is clear that RYUN will require some additional financing if its operations are to commence and continue. That will inevitably lead to debt and equity financing, which may have a negative impact on shareholders' investments. For now, however, the market seems to react positively to this newcomer.

You have to have balls of steel to buy it right now. Only $448 in cash and $681,000 in bills with apparently no income pay them. The company's website is still in beta stage with no ability to even sell their ninja mma product. :ninja:

Scary.

It was .97 when I wrote the message above on RYUN. Picked up 900 @ 1.06.

If they have to dilute it might be easier with the share price higher. Hopefully the bills arent due until the first.

Scary. :ninja:

You bought this at $1.06? Why? What's your rationale?

I didn't even look at the company products - I just knew it was being pumped and money was being siphoned into it. We bought in at .26 to .31, and sold out from .37 to .55. Too soon in hindsight, but there's not a ton of money being used for this so we err'ed on the conservative side.

I got in just for the heck of it. Im up 10% already on growing volume. Like I mentioned, the higher it goes the more money they can raise when they do have to sell shares to pay bills. Thats a flimsy reason, but whatever.

Anyway we are both in the money.

You are obviously dealing with more money than I am and did the right thing. Im just going in for a lick.

My trading portfolio is up 40% from shorting the market the last 2 weeks. I'm expecting a red summer.

First started off with long TZA (3x short russell 2k), then i sold TZA and switched to TZA calls. I closed the short position on Monday (lucky me). Re-entered short yesterday with QQQ puts and shorted JCP.

Prior to this I sold everything including retirement accounts and went 100% cash in May.

RITT - quite a little run there huh?

You think it's stabilizing? I always like to think I'm going to outsmart people and short it. I gotta believe there will be a ton of profit takers now that the big run appears to be done. It's still tempting for me to short it, but I'm not a huge risk taker.

edit: Neither Etrade nor Zecco let me short it as they don't have any shares to borrow....weak..

I'm thinking of going 100% cash in my retirement account. Debating...
