Any thoughts on BP, seems like the stock is taking a beating from the oil spill. There are some articles that they might have the issue fixed by next week? The thing is, with all the finger pointing, who's going to foot the bill of everything.

But <$45 seems like a good time to jump in? thoughts?

I mentioned few posts ago that I'm in at $46.37. I am down a couple of points but would have been down more in other stocks. The large drops in BP from the oil spill have stopped. It is tracking with the market and price of oil now.

KERX also doing nice, up 15%. Seems to be some good news announced about drug trials.

This weeks question - was it just a correction or the start of a bear market?

Background: Rambus sued Nvidia for patent infringement at the International Trade Commision (ITC) in Washington, DC in 2008. The trial was held in 2009.

Status: Rambus, who Judge Essex (in general ruled with his staff's recommendations) ruled in favor of in his Initial Determination (ID) against Nvidia. Honorable Judge Essex (HJE) ruled that Nvidia's graphic chips were infringing on Rambus' graphic controller patents and ordered a ceast and desist in January 2010. Nvidea appealed this decision to the full commision. The full commission is expected to rule by the end of May.

Result: ITC just posted on May 24th, 2010 at 5:00pm - decision extended two days... settlements anyone?

Go look at SD if you can think beyond the next 6 months.

What type of increase or decrease are you expecting in the POS if the best/worst ruling for RMBS is handed down?

Delayed 2 more days?

Where shoudl the Dow be? My guess is in the 12K-14K range. But with inflation looming (longer term thought here, don't be scared), where will it be in 5 yeas? People that trade are going to miss out.

PS: Those JNJ options I mentioned about a month ago went from 20 cents to 60 cents at one time. Amazing what happens when price follows value. It's amazing. Options go up 200% in price while the stock goes no where.

For those who call TA and bunch of BS, this guy who is head of one of the most respected TAs firms has had it right all along:

http://finance.yahoo.com/tech-ticke...y-long-bear-market"-prechter-says-492864.html

The TA hall of fame cosists of an empty room. Want me to talk about the value investing hall of fame? It is a farily full room.

The reason that it is BS is that it is a false God. People must have some issue with confirmation bias that makes them think it is valid.

Double whammy? CAFC plus ITC decision/settlement coming soon?

Of course I'm only speculating, but a 2 day delay seems odd. Extensions usually run 30 days or 60 days, or some other logical timeframe.

What could possibly be achieved in 2 days? Maybe Rambus and Nvidia are close to settling and asked the ITC to postpone so they can cross their T's and dot their I's?

It'd be nice to think...

I actually opened a long position on JNJ a few months ago based on what you talked about. I think over time the pps will catch up so I'm not too worried about the small blip recently. Thank you!

Haha yep, it would be nice. The suspense is awesome. It is curious that Rambus themselves released a PR note regarding the 2-day extension:

9800 on the Dow - check

118 ten year average on Euro - next

I dont think its a bear market but it will be a bumpy ride. The US economy is improving but if the world cant play along it wont mean quite that much. Might be best to sit on your hands.

Break below 9800 and go below 118, then who knows what will happen.

Don't want to be an idiot. FAZ options are too expensive now. Even the far July out of the money options are up 400%. Not worth buying now with this volatility.

What's a good bet at this point if I'm fairly confident we're going to see a big drop?

EDZ would probably be pretty aggressive for an ETF. Otherwise I'm not confident enough to go short at this point but what do I know. I bought gold and oil.

FWIW, I think it's too late to take short positions (or position in a short ETF). Cash + Long is the best approach.

I should have followed this about 1 month ago and cashed out.
