..time for my daily mets suck post.. :p

lol Mets. They were swept by the pathetic Diamondbacks and boy do they look dead. The Fire Jerry watch has restarted and it looks like the Mets will try to make some changes by the all star break such as trading Jeff Francoeur and dumping Rod Barajas. Jason Bay is fucking terrible. Not only is he bad but his at bats look so awful that it almost looks like he doesn't care. I know he has zero personality but man..show some fucking emotion.

If the Dodgers who are also stinkin' it up sweep the Mets heads will roll.

mets were expected to suck, but it looks like the phillies are just giving away the division title to the braves at this point.

There are rumors that the Phils are going to pick up a top of the rotation starter soon... stay tuned.

There is talk that the Cardinals are the front runners for Roy Oswalt and that Roy would be interested in St. Louis. A rotation of Carpenter, Wainwright and Oswalt would be big plus you have Jaime Garcia still pitching well.

I suppose Ben Sheets could be available but who else is out there that a contender could get?

We need our batters to stop slumping. our starters are tolerable

I don't foresee our team hitting woes ending anytime soon, AND our starters are not entirely tolerable.

Roy Halladay is everything we wanted and hoped. Too bad our offense isn't supporting him. Cole Hamels is a great 3rd starter. Too bad he's our 2nd starter. Jamie Moyer, Kyle Kendrick and Joe Blanton are, collectively, a turd pile.

When our offense was hitting on all cylinders and had all it's pieces were healthy and performing, they could get by, but not now.

Both Moyer and Kendrick need their control to be pinpoint sharp to fool anyone. All too often, it isn't. Amaro should have never given Moyer a two year deal. Never. Kendrick has been sent down to AAA. It's where he belongs.

Blanton can be a decent end of rotation guy, but he is still rounding into form after his long DL stint this year. On a truly superior team, he'd be a fine, fine 4th or 5th guy. He's only so-so as the 3rd man in the rotation.

And again, our offense is not coming back to its former glory anytime soon. I always suspected Werth was a meathead. Now I know he is. He may go somewhere else and thrive for awhile, but you watch, he will not be a consistent year to year star anywhere. He's a meathead.

Chase Utley is out until Sept. Who knows how quickly he'd be able to contribute at his usual stellar level when he comes back? He was and is the real heart and soul of the team, our best all around player.

Victorino lacks discipline. Don't get me wrong, I love the guy. He's a stellar contributor when he's batting 6th or 7th in a strong order, real icing on the cake. Rely on him for more and you will be disappointed.

Raul looks done. I feel for the guy, but, AGAIN, Amaro should have never given him a THREE year contract at his age. Two years max. As it is, he's an untradable albatross. Injuries at his age are a simple fact of life, as is never fully regaining your bat speed after a major one.

Jimmy Rollins is still rounding into form from his injury stint, and he is the kind of streaky hitter for whom this may take a while.

The beauty and strength of the Phillies offense these last few years has been its depth through the order. THAT is totally gone.

I wish the Phils had kept Cliff Lee. Glory is worth that gamble. Instead, they hedged their bets and settled for what they thought was enough just to get back to the post season, but not really enough to dominate it. Now,with all these injuries, they have neither. The Phil's management had greatness within their grasp, and they came up short.

Hey, baseball's a funny game and anything can happen. You're never as good as look when things are going your way, and your never as bad as you look when they aren't.

As a Phillies fan, though, I ain't holding my breath.

LAWL METS. The pathetic Metropolitans just finished up a disastrous 2 - 11 roadtrip and they are finished. They can thank umpire Phil Cuzzi for one of those wins too. The offense has been about as bad as I have ever seen. They were shut out 4 times during the roadtrip as well. RA Dickey who has been the second best pitcher on the team is hurt now, Pelfrey has turned to shit..etc. Heads will soon roll and if Jerry Manuel is fired Omar Minaya better go with him.

Meanwhile Dan Haren was just traded to the Angels.

Finally! A no hitter FOR the Rays!!! And only 1 walk (who was erased with a DP). I caught most of the game on MLB.TV before I realized it was also on ESPN.

Oswalt's ok, but I wouldn't even say he's better than Hamels. Cincy lit him up like a christmas tree in his last start...

Oh, I think he's clearly in a class above Hamels -- just mho.

Right now he's suffering from loseritis on a typically loser Ed Wade team.

If he gets traded to a contender, just WATCH him step it up and turn it on.

Happ is young, cheap, and under our control, but I personally LIKE a rotation of Halliday, Oswalt, Hamels, Blanton, even if it does include Kyle "Whoa, another HR off my pathetically hittable fastball" Kendrick.

Hamels could be a dominant 3rd rotation guy instead of a weak 2nd one, and Blanton would be a fine 4th starter instead of a weak 3rd one.

I especially like Halliday, Oswalt and Hamels as a post-season rotation -- assuming we get there -- which is far, far, far, far, far from a done deal even with Oswalt, given we still employ Bullshit Brad Lidge as our closer and, despite recent signs of life, still put less than the old offensive juggernaut out there these days.

But, offensively, there is hope. Werth seems to have recovered, Ibanez is starting to show signs of life, Howard is heating up as he always does this time of year, and Jimmy Rollins was looking like his old spark plug self before his painful toe boo-boo.

The Phillies: They never take the easy path.

How pathetic does Amaro's prompt trading of Cliff Lee last off season look now?

Ha ha, yeah! Kind of makes you want to vigorously polish your game bat while grabbing your personal resin bag in glee at the very thought of it, no? :awe:

I'm happy Omar Minaya didn't make any moves as the Mets are just not good enough to win the division or wildcard. The Mets are getting embarrassed by the Diamondbacks this weekend and their season will surely end when the Braves and Phils kill them in the next couple of days. This could be a good thing as then they can start to prepare for next season by dumping Luis Castillol, Lollie Perez, Francine, Alex "Grit!" Cora, Rod Barajas..etc. They can also fire Jerry Manuel but I think they'll keep him for the season and hopefully he and Omar can take a hike in the offseason together.

Lots of moves by other clubs but nothing really special went on. Oswalt was a decent move but I kinda like JA Happ and think he's got some fine potential. The Padres lineup got stronger by adding Ryan Ludwick and while his best days are past him I think Miguel Tejada will help too.

Braves added Rick Ankiel and Kyle Farnsworth. Ankiel is terrible and I don't care for Farnsworth. Boston was quiet and the Tampa Bay Rays could have added a power bat. Chad Qualls was a decent pickup for the Rays as they didn't give up anything.

The Yanks getting Berkman, Kearns and Wood is a bit much but I'm sure they'll help.

Dan Haren will help the Angels but those Rangers are still playing some fine baseball.
