Go mavs. 2-0! Dirk is playing out of his mind in the series. Only thing to make it better would be if the spurs go down 0-2.

Can we get the NBA thread stickied?

Let's not forget about how well Kidd has been playing so far in this series.

And Go Peja, always love seeing him make 20+ in a game.

I was scared that Danny Crawford would F us over w/ his biased reffing on the Mavs.

Portland fan?

Don't see all the mavericks haters coming back in the thread. "Spurs are the best in the NBA." lol

Probably because you never responded to my comment on how _irk can't defend any better than Bonner. Mavs aren't the best team in the West - you sure you guys want to play the Hornets if they get past the Lakers?

I'm hoping Denver can steal 2 games from OKC, but while Denver's newfound ball movement has been excellent Durant was simply too good in game 1.

Not looking good for my Blazers. A few notes:

- I expected Dirk to be Dirk. He's going to get his points. Even though getting to the line 17 times is a little...questionable, it's the NBA, he's at home, and that's what happens. Stars get calls.

- Didn't expect Peja and Kidd to be going off. If they keep playing like that consistently not only will you guys win the West you could win it all. TBH I didn't even know Peja was still in the NBA. Him hitting open shots wasn't surprising. Him taking people off the dribble and creating space was.

- Brandon Roy's knees are gone. It's sad. He's a shadow of what he once was, and I don't really know what to think about his involvement on this team. If he can't play he can't play.

- Coach Nate has to find a way to keep these guys from consistantly melting down in the 4th. It looks like a few free throw drills may be in order. Shooting 66% from the stripe is inexcuseable.

- Wesley Matthews is an absolute liability on defense and in terms of possession. I'd resigned myself to the loss and wasn't really paying attention near the end, but every time I glanced over in the last few minutes he was take some horrible off-balance shot, looking lost on a pick and roll, or just giving the ball do Dallas. Terrible.

Without Andre Miller, these games wouldn't have even been close. Dude is so clutch. Now if he could only shoot...

Dirk does do well getting strips and defensive boards. He is very suspect playing one on one defense I'll admit. That is where the comparisons stop though. Dirk is a much better shooter, can post up, and can drive the ball to the basket. He is the total offensive package. Bonner just shoots 3's.

The hornets don't have a snowballs chance in hell of beating L.A. I honestly believe it's the lakers or mavs coming out of the west.

No, not a Portland fan, and no skin in that game. I just think the officiating is horrible and that it is taking away some of the enjoyment of the game.

Of course you would.

The Thunder are really clicking right now, but then again Denver isn't known for their defense. There is no way the Spurs or Grizzlies will be able to stop them in the semis.

The NBATV announcers for the Spurs game are terrible.

Big time Spurs homers, calling Duncan "Timmy" throughout, bemoaning any call against the Spurs, and gobbling on Ginobili's knob. They are concerned that "our guys" are struggling.

It is almost not worth watching the Grizzlies beat them to have to hear this crap.

I hate it when they use local announcers.

too many fouls... simply too many people with foul troubles, its unreal. The inconsistency of NBA referees is ridiculous.

*Edit* I am talking about the Spurs game, Tim is fouled out... 🙁

Nice shootout competition.. oh well atlease we won!!

They use the home announcers on NBA TV. You were listening to Bill Land and Sean Elliott - one of whom is an ex-player for the Spurs. WTF do you expect them to do? I guess you haven't heard some of the other announcers in the league, but most fans I know (of other teams) really prefer the Spurs announcers to the others.

I had the league pass all season, and the Jazz announcers were the most balanced I can remember. I understand being homers, but "Timmy"? Have some care for your audience.

The Spurs had two home games against OKC in those three games, and Jeff Green did not perform well against the Spurs. Not sure both trends will continue if they meet up. Nor do I expect the Spurs to continue hitting 51% of their 3's against the Thunder. If they do hit at that rate over a seven game series (like the Magic did against the Cavs a few years back) then the Spurs will win.

Edit: Just saw some tweets from Bill Simmons, apparently I'm not alone.

Who is announcing this Grizzlies-Spurs game? These guys are such homers that even Tommy Heinsohn is disgusted.

Shame on NBATV - it's the playoffs, you can't cheap out with local announcers. Who owns that channel, the Maloofs?

I don't like the body language of our guys right now." Sean Elliott, NBA playoff announcer #whatajoke

Just muted Grizz-Spurs. Couldn't take it anymore. It was like sitting in the stands w/ 2 overbearing Little League parents.

I think I say this in every NBA thread, but it still bears repeating.

Andrew Bynum = Greg Oden

Sorry, tonight just proved this theory wrong.

Bynum is going to go down early because of injuries, but he is making the most of his NBA career while he can.

Why are you bringing up Green when discussing a potential OKC vrs SA match? He was part of the deal for Kendrick Perkins.

Because Perkins is vital to OKC going from playoff team to title contender. In all three losses the Spurs played an OKC team with Jeff Green, who played poorly. The Spurs are 0-0 against the Thunder with Perkins.

Perkins changes the entire dynamic of the roster. Provided he stays healthy, the Perkins trade is the biggest scam job since the Gasol trade.

It will be interesting to watch the CHI-IND match tonight, IND has been giving CHI a good run fro their money! today they will be at home. Should be interesting!!

Spurs are a lot like the mavs nowadays. They are an older team and it seems the young athletic teams give them hell. Usually Portland has played the mavs really tough but Dirk is just playing out of his skull and all Portland can do is watch in awe.

Portland's problem is they shoot terribly. They don't have anyone who can hit open shots and Dallas is just packing the paint daring Portland to hit jumpers. Watch again tonight as the Mavs bring five guys in near the painted area pretty much all game.

Ahh I misread then, I thought you were saying that Green played badly so OKC was doomed. I really want to see OKC v LA with Perkins and Ibaka against LA's big 3 who finally showed up last night (I only saw the first half but the way Bynum was playing I didn't think NO had any chance).

Roy needs to come to grips with what he is now and that's too bad, but I would rather have Oden on my roster than Roy now.
