I understand every argument about the USD, having said that there are 109109101 other investments I would jump in before gold. Buying gold is buying a currency that has no chance of ever being a reserve currency, is extremely leveraged and has a NEGATIVE YIELD.

You made 3/4 million ?? on a stock..damm

What you would want to do for options is either sell position, purchase calls with a strike price similar to your sale price. One contract = 100 shares. This purchase should it go to 0, means the stock price went down and you did not own it. That is good. This also is considered a loss that can offset some of your gain on your tax return. Should the price of the option go up meaning the stock price is rising you have more gains on your tax return. Ordinary income is a max of 33% + ~6% on the state. Money is money.

No retail allows this...

Depends on what he means, most retails will allow you to buy options (cboe option level 2) or sell covered calls (cboe level 1) usong other listed securities as margin. None that I know of on the retail sided allow you to margin options though. You need prime brokerage for that.

I'm in around the $10.80 mark for 250 shares. Hope it's as good as you and others think :)

Edit: GGWPQ

dude, I don't know, court date is next week, and a lot of people sold this morning. I sold 40% of my holding this morning too. It will either double or take a haircut next week. good luck to us!

Anyone thinking that FNM and FRE will recover to even half of pre-crash levels? Are these two entities that the government simply won't let fail? They're hovering around the $1 mark, and I'm wondering if there might be a potential long-term investment potential there.

They're worth 0 and will be worth 0 for a long time.

I bought back my shares at almost 80cents less than what I sold them for...I know I shouldn't, but oh well...at least I did manage to take some money off the table, which was my goal orginally.

You don't need me for this one, ask and ye shall receive, lol.

Az,

IF we were to assume that a settlement with Samsung is agreed upon, would you expect them to announce it before the court date or does it not matter? Can it happen post-Jan 11?

Also, any other news/insights on the situation right now pre-Jan 11?

Any thoughts on GGWPQ? Tanking a bit today, but no real bad news either.

they will go in fornt of the judge today at 2:30pm for the approval of the amended bankruptcy plan. a lot of weak hands and people that bought at 31cents/share got out or took some money off the table. no bad news that I could find. We should get some news tonight, just don't know if it's good or bad. I am holding until at least Friday.

JS80,

Once a settlement with Samsung is signed in ink, it is their duty to announce it as soon as possible. Whether that means a halt during the day or afterhours is anyone's guess. Typically, Samsung has settled right outside the courthouse steps... meaning, they settle at the last second before trial is set to begin after exhausting all possible avenues of defense. It is also possible to settle during the trial, before jury verdict and even AFTER.

Rambus also bought GLT last night that is causing a lot of speculation as to why now.
