Boeing completed a milestone test of the new 787 airliner today. I’ve been watching the progress of the program the last few months and with this news it is fairly certain a first flight will occur late December. This is great news as the program has been very troubled. Once the plane gets in the air and certification begins I think we can expect several good news events over the next few months that will send the share price up. I’m looking for a 10% – 15% return by end of February. One risk is that the plane does not fly before the end of the year. The other risk is bad news on the USAF air to air refueling contract during this time frame (Boeing and EADS are competing for it).

KERX received FAST Track Designation for KRX-401. Decent run up in the pre-market. Hope it hits 52 Week High today.

I'm looking to accumulate some more when/if it drops back down. Maybe someday you can offset your casino visit w/ a nice sustainable GNVC gain! ;)

Never got my next entry :(

Either way, GNVC has been moving up. Up 6% premarket again. Will it pop?

It's still not too late to buy more... 2009 has been a great year for investors, if anyone is losing money this year, they should avoid stocks, and stick with CDs or money market. :)

European Union settlement - RMBS should release news tonight.

If it closes above $20, a major technical resistance has finally collapse and paves the floor to an easy $26.

Fundamentally, with the January trial so so so close, it's possible that a favorable ITC/AT/settlement with any of the 3 amigos could pop the lid back to $40+.

Even though I'm bear on the market, in the next 2 months, lets hope for the bull run to continue - it will only aid RMBS on a trading basis.

Trader Blog

Rambus (RMBS) moving to 52-wk highs

In some previous blog posts, we have mentioned Rambus (ticker RMBS) as a flyer that has a lot of risk -- but correspondingly high potential rewards. Very high potential...

Currently, there is a "perfect storm" of news out there -- each of which has the potential to launch RMBS to much higher levels. These include:

EU settlement with RMBS should be finalized at any moment. Although the specified royalty rates are lower than Rambus might have hoped for -- the agreement will legitimize RMBS intellectual property and potentially pave the way for licenses with some big firms. There have been rumors that some big names (like Apple!) could sign up as licensees.

The AT trial in Judge Kramer's Court is scheduled for Jan 11 -- and if all stays on target, as the days tick by, the marketplace will have their eye on a payoff that has been estimated in the billions of dollars (from several billion dollars to double-digit billions).

Whyte's Court also has proceedings that are scheduled this week.

There are, of course, risks of delays and other setbacks. For now, however, the market action looks like we could break out to the upside. Here is a look at some resistance levels that may be of interest to investors:

A close above 19.42 would be bullish.

The next level of resistance would be the 23-25 range.

Next resistance level is the 35-42 range.

And then, dare we say... triple-digits!

From Previous Blog Posts

Rambus is involved in patent litigation (ugh) -- but seems to be winning the war and getting over the hump in terms of risk. Note, however, that I thought this to be the case back in January, when the stock was a bit higher. In early January, things seemed to be going RMBS's way and the stock was trending higher to around 18. Rambus got blind-sided by a court in Delaware (which some feel will be overturned) and the stock cratered to the single-digits.

Hmm... an associate of mine is in San Fran right now waiting for Judge Kramer to show up. The CEO of Rambus on conference just talked to a couple of people and said Samsung might not be in the AT trial.

I don't want to say what this could mean.....................

EDIT: I am stepping away from my computer. I took some profits earlier in the year and reduced my RMBS shares to 10,000 - but my mind is telling me to buy the few thousand shares I sold. Gotta step away and just wait for my messages to come in.

Geez, I put in a limit buy order for RMBS a couple weeks ago that was about 5 cents from executing when it was below $17.

This just in... the AT trial will NOT be delayed due to the coordination with the TSRA antitrust suit against Memory Manufacturers.

Judge Kramer stated that the manufacturers can challenge him, and if they do, he will be forced to let go and reassign the TSRA case, but the RMBS trial is his to keep no matter what and even if they do challenge he will start the trial on time.

How's that???????????????

I just bought a few thousand more shares... oh vey, hahaha! It needs to stay above $20. The volume and block buying has been very good so far. Bring in the new year!

From Yahoo boards:

Re: AT/TRIAL IS ON!!!!! 2 minutes ago
Set to begin January 11th

Samsung is asking to be severed from case

That indicates Samsung is going to settle with Rambus

what price point did you pick up for the calls in may?

endervalentine,

My only advice is to build shares first before you speculate on options. Anything can happen... remember last time? I had the majority of the 10,000 (now 13,000 shares) purchased before I did options on RMBS. I'm currently ahead on RMBS options, but instead of the nervousness and headaches associated with that, especially for someone who doesn't specialize in this particular stock, I would recommend just accumulating shares. I just don't want to see you burnt, that is all, my little lemming :)
