This game was not decided by the refs. IMHO it was called pretty damn loosely for a playoff game. The Suns got outclassed today by a better team. They played great, but in the end the superior defense of the Spurs won the game. Yes there were some stupid calls but you can't say Phoenix would have won had they gotten those calls. They were still down 3 when TP was fouled before the ball was inbounded and you have no idea if the Spurs wouldn't have made a basket anyways.

This game was at Phoenix and the Suns just didn't take care of business. Face it, they lost to a far superior team. You can't win NBA championships without defense. Maybe Mr. Organized Chaos will figure that out someday.

Spurs in 5.

Mr. Organized Chaos refused to play Kurt Thomas more than 13 minutes this game. KT has done an excellent job on Duncan and the Suns are a solid defensive team with him on the court. If he plays more, the Suns have a great shot at beating the Spurs.

They have no chance of beating the Spurs. Again it all comes down to defense. The Spurs are the best defensive team in the league and they are forcing the Suns to play their style of basketball. You think Steve Nash can go out there and score 32 points every night.....it just isn't going to happen. He functions best when his teammates are involved and the Spurs are doing a great job with their perimiter defense.

Maybe the Suns steal a game or two, but that's it. If they can't win at home they are toast.

Did you not watch the way the Suns played with KT in the game? I agree with your assessment on the Suns v. Spurs, but it's not like the Spurs defense was that great. The Suns scored 106 points and struggled down the stretch without their best player on the court. Amare and Marion missed a ton of close shots as well. The Spurs are the better team until the Suns show me otherwise, but saying the Suns have no chance after they've played the Spurs very close all year isn't quite fair.

Thats how the Spurs beat you though. They aren't a huge offensive threat like the Suns so it's unlikely we'll see them blowout the Suns by 15-20 pts. They weren't even playing at home, and both teams had enough rest winning 4-1 in the previous round. This was the Suns team fully charged and ready to go and they lost. I'd take Greg P's coaching anyday of the week over D'Antoni.

If somehow the Suns play at 100% potential for the rest of the series of course they can win. But I don't like those odds.

I agree with everything you say. I just feel that if D'Antoni gives KT 20-25 minutes a game on Duncan, that could make a huge difference. It should keep Amare out of foul trouble, keep Duncan in check (at least better than today) and allow Marion to guard smaller players.

How Does D'Antoni not get a techincal? he's screaming at the refs the whole game. WTH!!! and those who think the refs called the game in spurs favor, look at some of the charges that went against the spurs, some of those were ridiculous. And no parker didn't intentionally hit nash, that was an accident. Nash was doing something he has no business of doing...playing defense.

i think the game was fairly called. the big differnce was the suns getting destroyed on the boards. typical example was the one possession where the spurs got 3 offensive boards.

Nash isn't nearly as bad of a defender as you make him out to be. He's not a great individual defender, but he does force key turnovers. He was 6th in the league in charges taken this year. I'm guessing D'Antoni didn't get a technical because the refs realized they screwed up on Amare's 3rd foul, which had a huge impact on the game. The gave the Suns assistant coach a T at halftime though.

Game 2 of Pistons v. Bulls tonight.

I don't expect a blowout but I do see Detroit winning a close game.

Go Pistons!

I feel really bad for the Rockets. That game was way too close. Unlike the choke job Dirk, both McGrady and Yao played well. They really needed a third person to step up. They deserved the win. Not the Jazz.

McGrady is cursed, I tell ya.

It's a dangerous game for the Pistons. All the Bulls need to do is win one of the first two games and they're good to go. A loss for the Pistons tonight and it doesn't matter how much we blew them out by in Game 1.

They did not play well, and they did not deserve the win.

Yao was laying on the floor more than he was on his feet. He got manhandled and lost his confidence for 3/4's of the entire game and missed a lot of shots that he should have made.

McGrady was nowhere to be seen the first half, and played decent the second half at best.

The rockets were on top of their game at home. The jazz were on top of their game at home. The jazz overcame the away disadvantage and outplayed the rockets fair and square on the rockets turf.

The jazz won the game and deserved it.

<edit>

Also, McGrady said it himself in the post game interview. "The better team won".

I really hope the Suns rebound and take the series. As a GSW fan I think there's no way we can beat the Spurs, but we'd have an outside shot at beating the Suns if Baron plays well. Like Dirk, Nelson knows Steve Nash and frustrated the hell out of him earlier this season.

I can't believe that I'm actually involved with the NBA playoffs for once. I can't wait for tonight's game.

yao struggled, but mcgrady played great. He had like 9 asts at half time. he was taking what the d was giving him and not forcing anything

edit: OP could you add polls for the second round?

Damn, I really wanted Houston to win a series this year. McGrady desperately wanted it and I feel sorry that the team failed again. I think they were mediocre in the final 5 minutes and that's what lost the game for them.

I expect GS to beat Utah in 6 games. What can I say, they're the feel-good story of the playoffs.

even though the pistons are dominating... wtf is up with the foul discrepency in these 2 games. Are the refs trying to make the games closer than it should be?

Wow.. The Pistons have looked scary good over these past two games.

They did? I didn't catch the first game (well, I caught the last 57 seconds!), but this game they played pretty sloppily. Way too many PFs & TOs. Not sure if they're playing really well or if Chicago's playing terribly - but that is one Detroit's strengths - making other teams look bad, haha.

Friggin Bulls. 🙁

I'd really like to see Luol Deng cover Billups and Thabo or Nocioni on Prince. Sort of the way Pippin took Mark Jackson out of the game in the conference finals '98.

They definitely did in the first game.

They owned the first half of this game and while I don't disagree that it was a bit sloppy in the second half, they maintained a double-digit lead the entire 24 minutes.

I'm impressed with their field goal shooting and their 3-point shooting. I think Prince is knocking down 65% of 3-pointers in the playoffs.

The Jazz / Warriors series should be surnamed "The battle of white guy hair-dos".

Biedrins v. Kirilenko would be an epic hair battle. And Okur would be a real sleeper..
