Someone want to explain what just happened to someone who's watching it on Gamecast and doesn't really know the first thing about baseball?

what just happened????im at work

NY runner intentionally swatted at the Boston pitcher's arm while he was attempting to tag him. The ball was knocked loose and Jeter ran all the way from 1st and scored. The umps gathered and determined it was an illegal move by the hitter and called him out and put Jeter back on 1st.

The pitcher went to tag ARod while he's running to first. ARod swipes the arm and knocks the ball loose. 1st base ump is blocked by 1st baseman so rules safe. Umps overturn ruling. ARod tries to pretend it was his normal running motion, which clearly isn't the case in replays.

ARod knocked the ball out of the pitchers glove while he was trying to tag him. According to the rules, that's an out. For those of you not watching the game...

EDIT: I suppose it was the right call. The fans were pretty angry though. For whoever it was calling the Yankee fans classless, I can't even imagine what would have happened in Boston had it happened to them.
Besides, just a few bad apples doesn't make all Yankees fans bad. 99.9% just voiced their disapproval.

Actually, nothing wrong with trying it...he was going to be out no matter what. Might as well try to get away with one

Arod hit a grounder, pitcher run to first to get the out, pitcher was carrying ball with his non-glove hand, arod, when close to first base and pitcher, hit the pitcher so hed lose the ball.

Its like INTERFERANCE in hockey hehe

lol . i'm starting to like umps. lol

oh.. after years of frustration w/ umps

(Orioles vs Yankees Playoff).. that damm HR call

to whoever didn't see it....

Arod was running to first, Bronson Arroyo went to tag him out, and Arod SWUNG HIS ARM INTENTIONALLY to knock the ball out of Arroyo's glove. Like he was slapping at him. Originally called him safe, then they got it right and called him out for interfering.
