They way I see it, I don't think A-Rod's intent was to HARM arroyo. He was trying to knock the ball away.

If the rule book says you can't do that, hey, then you can't do that. But I don't think it was meant to take off Arroyo's arm. You really can't think that, can you? He's trying to do anything he can to be safe, including smack the arm with the ball in it.

If you want to make the arguement, what about Cabrera running about 6 feet out of the basepath last night to try and break up the double play? I can't remember exactly what the first base coach said, but I think it was something to the effect of "make contact". Jeter was heading towards right field and here comes Cabrera...

Also, something to think about. If the catcher is allowed to block homeplate, and you are allowed to linebacker smash him... I think those are more malicious than what A-Rod did last night.

I'm not trying to defend A-Rod. He definitely tried to knock the ball away by chopping at Arroyo. The umps did get the call right. But to think he was trying to injure him? Come on.

As far as tonight's game, it's either going to be utter heartbreak for the RedSox after fighting back from 3-0, or it's going to be the biggest choke job ever in Baseball (considering no one has blown a 3-0 lead).

Where the hell is the ghost of the Bambino? He better show the F up! :)

Anyone in the baseline is free game, regardless if they had the right to be there or not.
No sht Sherlock, and ARod cannot do anything outside of running. Which includes hitting another player's glove in a "malicious and unsportsmanlike" manner. Just run to first, accept the tag like a man, be happy that you moved the runner to scoring position, and shut your mouth. It's what a real man like Matsui would have done, not hurt his team by not only accepting the out, but stranding the runner on first and making a fool of yourself on national TV.

why so angry.

All I said is if he wanted to hurt anyone, he could have ran right through them.

Oh by the way, I hit .750 when I played softball in my work's league so that proves I know what I am talking about.

I'm not angry, just stating that you should play the game like a man and a champion, not a female and a chimpanzee.

His move was borderline malicious, and whether he meant to hurt anyone or not doesn't really matter in this case, he could have dislocated/sprained/fractured one of Arroyo's fingers by knocking off his glove. Do you think the drunk driver who killed someone wanted to do it either? He just wanted to make it home and go to bed.

So pitchers threw 85/90 in your softball league with 3 ft curves? Wow, that's impressive, sure beats playing Varsity high school and tournament baseball.

It already is the biggest choke job in baseball this year in that a game 7 has never been forced, aside from NY tying the record for worst loss 22-0 to Cleveland. They're making history, why not one more for the ages!

Have you also conveniently forgotten the 19 runs allowed to make a playoff record?

Losing your temper like ARod ThePresence? Not like you, I'm disappointed. Maybe you're so mad because what I say is logical. Do you deny that Bronson's finger could have been in the least sprained/dislocated? Just b/c it wasn't, doesn't excuse the act. That's like saying, well the drunk driver luckily didn't hurt anyone before he was arrested, he just ran into a tree... Fact of the matter is, he could have hurt someone...

Wasn't he hit on like the wrist of his glove hand? And I don't know how you played sports, but it sounds like you played them like a bitch, cause every time I watch any game for any sport on tv you see players breaking the rules hoping they don't get caught, its part of the game. Imagine if every player was suspended for a block in the back on kickoffs and punt returns in football it would be ridiculous. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Sox fans are easily the worse fans in baseball.

I'll take that anyday if you were to tell me that Boston would force a game 7 on NY which had never been done before, or tying the modern day record of worst loss ever 22-0. The 19 run game didn't constitute the worst playoff loss ever so nobody will remember it a year from now.

Not losing my temper at all, just getting annoyed at your ridiculous assertions (as are many others, not just me). Arod wasn't trying to hurt anyone. Your comparison to a drunk driver defies any kind of logic. These are grown men playing this game. The little slap on his wrist did nothing to hurt him. NOBDOY is trying to make that accusation besides you. If someone on the Red Sox thought so, I guarantee you would have heard it from Francona during his press conference. It's BS, plain and simple. Just drop the injury talk, it makes no sense.

did I mention it was Coed? didn't know if that gives more proof that I am baseball smrt.

85/90 in JV is an outrageous claim. The Toms River schools didn't have a full rotation of 85/90 starters on V.

ARod knocked his glove clear off his hand, we will just have to disagree. Injury could have ocurred, that's my opinion. Why would Francona complain after they won? Of course he won't bring it up because Arroyo is ok, and AFraud was exposed on national TV.

Could Kevin Brown pitch with broken bones in his glove hand?

The fact that you're comparing a violent game like football to a passive one like baseball is absurd. There are different rules for suspension, different rules for intent, different everything. A block in the back happens much more frequently in football than a player getting hit by another in baseball, so the rules are obviously stiffer in baseball. The fact that I have to spell it out says something.

I played the game with more heart, class, and balls than AFraud will ever know. Everybody knows the rules of baseball, including hitting the ball out of a glove. To reiterate: I've never seen it in 17 years playing and watching the game. Classless, but all that matters is Boston WON!

I never said 85/90 in JV, it was both JV and V. And no it's not outrageous for JV, I had a sophmore teammate who threw 85 and they would cycle him from V to JV and vice versa depending on the day. Also, where did I say full rotation? It was common that many teams in V had a flamethrowing starter. Names from our arch rivals like Dan Synder (Holy Cross) and Ron Walker (Shawnee) had no problem throwing in the upper 80's. Hell, Shoenweiss (who now plays for Anaheim) threw smoke, he graduated a couple years before I was a freshman at Lenape. He was big news not only because he was a superstar but because he had testicular cancer, and luckily came out ok. We also had a starter who threw 85 (BJ Benick), along with the soph closer that I shared duties with for V (I threw an 80mph screwball, it would break in on the hands of righties). Also had another southpaw who, while barely throwing 80, had a curve so good he was signed by one of the Marlins minor league team. He got a new mustang and 350K which is a pretty big deal to a young guy in high school, last I heard he didn't make it though.

It was Arroyo's right to be in the vicinity of the baseline since he was making the tag. Mientkavicz was in ARod's way and it would have been legal to bowl him over.

Wow, that's impressive, sure beats playing Varsity high school and tournament baseball.

did I mention it was Coed? didn't know if that gives more proof that I am baseball smrt.

85/90 in JV is an outrageous claim. The Toms River schools didn't have a full rotation of 85/90 starters on V.
He got a new mustang and 350K which is a pretty big deal to a young guy in high school, last I heard he didn't make it though.

someone please explain to me what in the holy hell does this have to do with the ALCS? I think this needs to be refiled into the "i was special back in middle school but now I have no life" board.

I think it'd be good if we all just ignore the troll from now on.

I played the game with more heart, class, and balls than AFraud will ever know.

Nomar is that you?
Yes, I'm thinking about going to Chicago, LA, or Anaheim. I want to go to LA, because I'm really a prankster in the locker room and I know LIMATIME would bring it out in me even more. Teammates say I'm such a prankster, like when I sprinkled some sand in Sosa's shoe. At first he pretended not to notice, but when I brought it up to him, he said "Oh yeah, right Nomar. That was the funniest thing mang." So the teammates would love me in LA since I'm such a funny guy, although Mia thinks the rally monkey is cute so we're also considering Anaheim!

Thank you, I am glad someone else thinks the same thing as me, he obviously didn't get my sarcasm.
