Hey, companies these days are just stupid.

I congratulate her on standing by her beliefs.

15:1 if it was someone who was Islamic complaining it would be off the cup in heartbeat.

Wow, someone won't be spending five bucks at one starbucks. That's incredible news. CNN should do a feature on the impending backruptcy of Starbucks because they're now out five dollars.

I'm offended that this woman took the time to call up a newspaper with her "story" and that they published it.

OMG, NOES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's because our money is worthless paper unlike the gold that it equates to :p. Betta put some trust in god to keep that money worthwhile or you got some purdy 'spensive toilet paper ;).

It's kind of hard to pass judgment on this debacle of a debate. Let me ask you this, what are the two things you never bring up at events...? Religion and politics. You just don't do it... well unless it's a religious or political event and the comment shares the same views :p. Was the comment necessarily bad? Nah. Was it in poor taste? Yeah. Maybe if it were on the bottom of the cup like another user reported?

What I find amusing is... this person's religious and offended by the remark on the cup... but I guaran-damn-tee that if she were an atheist complaining about a pro-religion remark on the cup, there'd be shrines erecting to her honor right now in ATOT.

The hypocrisy is strong within you, my sons!

if she really was faithful to God, a little comment like that wouldn't faze her. I guess she sees now how weak her faith is.

IF I go to Starbucks...it's to get a coffee with a little kick (usually a Venti Green Eye)...I don't read the cups because I honestly couldn't care less. If the woman's that offended with what's written on the cup, get one of the 'hot sleeves' and cover it up. Problem solved!

I can understand why she wouldn't like such a quote on her cup. She's a christian, of course she's going to feel weird walking around drinking out of something that says people don't need the God she believes in.

That said, why is this a news story? Why in the world did she go to a newspaper to complain about this? It might be a poor business practice to print anti-God sentiment on your cup, regardless of your disclaimer, but at most this woman should've just decided on her own to stop going to Starbucks. This is not newsworthy. No wonder newsrooms are cutting jobs. They apparently have nothing to write about.

It seems like a bit of a sly jab at those who believe in God (specifically the "figment of our imaginations" part).

Overall, nothing to get very upset about - sometimes it's hard to phrase an opinion in a non-insulting manner. Ms. Incanno should probably just respond on the website instead of quitting the place, but I guess it's not like the world is hurting for coffee shop competition anyways.

If I read that right, it was part of an idea that Starbucks had to put opinions on the cups to provoke conversation for people having their morning coffee. It's not as if they thought, "Hey lets put this one paragraph on all ours cups that says God sucks."

It's kinda like what Jones Soda does with the pictures they put on their lables submitted by random people. Just with thoughts, to provoke conversation.

This one lady just happened to be upset by the comment on that cup. So she'll buy her coffee elsewhere from now on. Boo-hoo. Sorry your beliefs were called into question by a beverage cup.

"A sly jab" is exactly what it is. If I recommended that AT members consider that God might not be a figment of our imaginations, and to look to him for the strength that you might not find on your own, the anti-God crowd would find it at least as insulting as the gal in the news story found the message on her cup.

I am not offended because I have a spine that helps me stand on my own two feet, a brain that lets me form my own opinions on a wide variety of topics, and a sense of self that doesn't get its panties in a twist when something outside of my world view is put in front of me.

But it wouldn't make me stop visiting ATOT, or even to stop reading your posts. I know what opinions are, and I know how to accept them. Cup Lady obviously does not.

she's retarded, but i'd say it was a bad decision to put the quote on... whoever was screening them should have known it would have needlessly offended someone.

ATOT isn't paying someone to reproduce my message and distributing it to you and others who visit other threads or articles on the site. If they did, you might think differently.

Then again I come to ATOT for the conversation. I go to Starbucks for the coffee.

I'm a catholic and I'm not offended in the least bit.

People all have their own beliefs. This woman needs to get over that.
