That said, I still do find Off Topic somewhat chaotic and seldomly post there. I suppose it's nice to have a place to post pretty much whatever you want; I just find that people can be too insulting in there sometimes, and it usually seems like the people doing it have little or no reason to be flaming people.

I read that thread over and over...
How can you say people over reacted?
name calling sure--out of line sure...

But as the Op......
You started getting into political issues and what not and these people called you on it....example-- you said -- "In Cuba I could live with a cleaner conscience than I could in the US. I have enormous issues with the Iraq war. "

Not once did you attempt to say--Hey people this is about my vacation thats why i posted it in OT instead of P&N....

The fence is 2 sided and I thought you personally was slamming the United states without coming out and directly saying it...thus you had a few redneck patriotic members call you on it........

Instead of saying 'Hey--this is about my vacation"...you made it political or at the very least you contributed to the mayhem...

It`s time to move on and let bygones be bygones..

Peace!!

Posting in OT requires a "thick skin", "water off a duck's back", pick your metaphor. The "herd mentality" is often observable, and from what I've seen, the "Shepherds" do their best to nurture, and when necessary, cull the herd. <--There has to be a board game for what I just did, right?

I can lock every 42nd thread if you would like.
This is in fact the correct answer, as 42 is the answer to everything.

Well, the thread has de-railed again. Mods, I would appreciate it if you would deal with the members who are continuously and repeatedly making derogatory remarks.

There are a few questionable statements in the last 3 pages worth of posts. I do think that people making derogatory remarks shoudl be dealt with. However I will warn you that your included on that list. What I personally don't like is you attacking other members and their beliefs and when they respond you constantly cry your going to run to the mods. I counted at too many 'I'm gonna tell on you' posts just in the last few pages:

"I cropped the beginning of your post because your repeated crap is starting to really annoy me. I'm tempted to contact the mods, so watch it."

"The mods will be reading this."

Of course, your just as happy attacking other users while you compain about them attacking you:

"Can I not refer to someone as 'beligerant' or 'rude' after they refer to me as an 'idiot' or a 'moron'? I mean, seriously. "

"Who gave you elite status and why? "

That of course doesnt' give others attacking you a free ride either, but there is clearly two sides to this story.

As to the person you directed that elite comment at, I have a sepeate issue with his comments on DrPizza's post and we'll discuss that. Right now I think you both deserve some time off.

This issue appears to once again be *resolved*.

Thank-you mods, and thank-you to everyone who sent me supportive PM's in appreciation of the thread. I'm sorry that the thread had to be locked; I was enjoying the discussion with many of you.

Wow, I've only been around here for a couple of years, but I don't think I have ever seen anyone cry to the mods this much. You were getting slammed pretty hard, but what do you expect when you go to the tourist section of a third world country and use that as your example of how great that country is?

???

It wa never about pople who supported you because those who you offended was masive compared to those who you claim supported you...hmmm...this all could have ben avoided by you and you alone....

I am amazed that you actually see nothing that you personally could have done differently....

Things that make you go hmmm.....

Peace!!
