How many times am I going to have to post this?

Here......again, is my voting policy.

1. All American citizens that want to vote and are eligible to vote, should vote.

2. No non-citizens, dead people, made up people or multiple voting should be allowed.

3. All votes cast and ONLY those votes cast should be counted.

I don't see am ambiguity there. I could be wrong.

As to the "You are a racist" comments. Please refer back to my predictions of many months ago when I said that obama has but two issues to run on: Redistribution of wealth and Racism.

If one would do a bit of thinking one would see that it is the Democrat Party that is racist. It started with the War on Poverty and Voting Rights legislation by LBJ. See if you can think it through.

Funny we don't have widespread instances of this now. More votes are lost by mishandling of ballots after the vote then fraud.

Also I guess cutting/elimating early voting is supposed to help with 'fraud"

Good to know that black people have finally been thrown into the trash heap and have no hope. Maybe now they will just quit voting altogether. Better to keep them as a local nuisance rather than a national one I'm sure.

So what group do we need to shitcan next?

Man, there's just no talking to someone that wrapped up in bigoted nonsense. Unpacking it would take forever, and would require some shared basis for facts (for example, commonly accepted understandings of American history based on archival records and other historical research) that I suspect would just be labeled additional liberal lies.

Of course. He lives in a world of self sealing denial.

It's not about Dem vs Reps, it's about offering all citizens the opportunity to vote without leaving their jobs to do it. They should simply do the voting on a weekend, and offer late hours.

The polls are open in Ohio from like 6am to 8pm. Additionally you can absentee vote by mail or in person starting 35 days before the election and up until the Friday before the election.

How people make an argument that they need more time to vote is beyond me.

Thanks.

Then the article writer just assumed such. Wonderful reporting.
No, Nemesis 1 just doesn't have a clue what he's talking about. Rambling about "as the other party only spoke" is pure nonsense given that the person quoted said it in an e-mail directly to the Columbus Dispatch. The paper quoted that message verbatim.

You just don't understand, do you?

I want every American to study, work and want more for them and their family.

To paraphrase Milton Friedman: When you pay people to be poor, you are going to have a lot of poor.

Monday thru Friday only, until 7 pm. Back in 2008, they had Saturday voting, too, which black constituencies apparently used more than others...

Ohio Repubs have backed away from complete weaseldom, anyway, where they were putting different rules on different districts...

http://tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsme...r_voting_process_shouldnt_contort_to_afri.php

It's just a minor setback for Jimmy Crow, who's staging a comeback tour courtesy of ALEC sponsored legislation in states that Repubs control.

When districts of a certain majority get extended hours and others of a different majority get their's cut, you don't see a little infringement of voter rights? LOL!! You are the problem!

Milton Friedman advocated giving money to the poor (via a negative income tax) no strings attached you dummy.

Gawker excerpt said:
early-voting sites across the state would only be open on weekdays, many felt the restriction would unfairly impact "working people" in general, and minorities in particular.

...

"I guess I really actually feel we shouldn't contort the voting process to accommodate the urban - read African-American - voter-turnout machine," he told the The Dispatch in an email.

I'd like to better understand what contortion is required to accommodate the "urban voter turnout machine". Sadly, I don't imagine I will find any insight into that issue.

If you drew a Venn diagram with "working people" on one side and "urban - read African American - voters" you'd probably have minimal overlap thus it's hard to see how this uniquely inconveniences them.

Just kidding.

Or am I?

In case you're not, labor statistics for July 2012:

White 'participation rate' in the employment market, both sexes: 64%
Black participation rate: 61.4%

White unemployment rate: 7.4%
Black rate: 14.1%
(Remember that unemployment here is defined as people unsuccessfully SEEKING jobs, not people just without a job)

http://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.t02.htm

So basically almost equivalent participation rate, more blacks still looking for jobs.

I guess that doesn't account for rural vs. urban, but I'd be surprised if those numbers changed an enormous amount.

Facts won't change what they believe- they'll just believe more doggedly.

Blacks have double the unemployment rate of whites...so why should blacks vote to give Obama another 4 years?

Because they rightfully figure that Romney would probably double it again, plus cut the meager benefits received when not working.

Just because they're poor doesn't mean they're stupid.

OTOH, having a job seems to enable Righties to be stupid.

Hey- Maybe if more black people had jobs, they'd be stupid enough to vote Republican, too...

Keep telling yourself that, Jhhnn. Keep telling yourself the dems will make it all better for blacks when reality paints a different picture. One day you will begin to believe it is true.

I don't get this voting problem issue. Everyone can still vote. Everyone that really wishes to vote. If one needed a photo ID for unemployment benefits, I'm sure people would make the effort to get the needed Id. If people needed an Id for food stamps, I'm sure that hurdle could be jumped. And I'd assume there are just as many black poor republican voters disenfranchised as white poor voters. Or republican white elderly voters.
What's a photo ID cost anyway? Maybe $3. $10?

So what has happened to community organizing?
Get these people to the polls. Help them get the proper photo Id.
Organize photo Id drives.
They did it in the 1960's in the south to get blacks to the polls.
It worked then. Why not now?

Sure... The photo ID is silly. Not really necessary. But if republicans want to play that game, then stay one step ahead of them.
Organize volunteers and get people to the polls.
Help them to get them the proper photo Id required.
Whatever is required. Organize and get it done.
Make these republican governors look like fools.
Show them we can do this.
Play their little game(s), and win it.

If the government told seniors tomorrow they needed photo ID's in order to get their SS check. Or told those on government assistance they needed the Id for food stamps and rent assistance, you damn well know everyone would do what was necessary, whatever is necessary, to get that photo Id.

I just don't get it...

Seems like a lame excuse why not every citizen could not get the necessary Id required to legally vote. Unless for some reason one were not legally suppose to vote in the first place???

Once upon a time people organized. Helped the poor and seniors to get things done.
What is so different now?
Why isn't Jessy Jackson organizing voter assistance programs, state by state, to help these people? Instead of whining about being disenfranchised?
MLK would get it done.
MLK would never allow the games being played by republican governors to stand in the way.

Come on people. What's the big stink here???
Don't woosie out. Organize. Make MLK proud.
Piss republican governors off.

And BTW... When it comes to voting hours. Isn't it law that every work place must give employees time off to go and vote, if they need it?
That is federal law, not state. (if I remember correctly)

I'm just sick of this lazy "wawww wawww, I can't vote. I don't have a photo Id" BS.
It doesn't fly.
And the games republicans want to play, in states that insist on playing such games, surely can be won by simple community organizing and taking a page from MLK play book.

And the Republicans keep telling people with no boots "to pull themselves up by their bootstraps". Very helpful.

You do understand that is euphenism, right? It actually means "don't just lie there like a defeated wimp, pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and move on".

Photo IDs are free in the states with voter ID laws.

Photo ID laws are equivilant to voter registration laws in that it requires people to actively do something in order to be allowed to vote, and that this something is both easy and free to do.

Of course I know what it means, didn't you understand my point? It was a simplistic reference to Republicans constantly asking people to do things that they have neither the tools or opportunity to do. I thought it was obvious to the most casual observer.

And voter ID is not easily available to everyone. There were large areas once that for a long time gave little access to black people for hospital and even doctor's care. They were often born at home with no birth certificate issued. They therefore lack proper documentation. This a group that the Republicans really don't want to vote.

All records used to be on paper. A natural disaster might destroy both personal and government records at the same time, making replacement records difficult to impossible to obtain. Even if it is possible, it may take months of correspondence and expensive travel to the place of your birth.

State IDs are often issued at DMVs. I usually take a book to read when I go to one. So let's send grandma with her walker and oxygen tank (who doesn't drive) to spend hours there and hope she has found all of the proper documents by the first trip. Since she probably likes SS and Medicare, the Republicans probably don't want her to vote either.

There are many more reasons why it is an obstacle to a large number of people, so don't just blow it off as inconsequential.

Having a government photo ID to vote is no solution to voting fraud. Illegals and non-citizens can get a government photo ID. What is needed is first to purge the voting registration rolls of all those that are dead, moved, non-citizens, ineligible and the made up. Then ensure that all those that wish to register to vote actually prove they are both a US citizen and eligible to vote.

I don't care if there is a requirement to have a photo ID to vote or not. It's nice but it does not solve the problem.

So it's ok for whites to get extended voting hours but african americans to not get the same treatment. Gotcha. Racist.

This.

Not surprising that the usual suspects are OK with it. After all to them, they have faith that they are right, so the ends justify the means to them.

Obama and his supporters have but two issues to run on: Redistribution of wealth and Racism. The tactic is deflection.

Ever notice that Liberals are spring loaded and safety wired to the "you are a racist" position? It's sort of funny......sort of.
