LONDON, ENGLAND - Fallout: New Vegas for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC is being developed by Obsidian Entertainment, formerly Black Isle Studios and developer of Fallout and Fallout 2, and is slated for a 2010 release date.

Details are scarce, but Bethesda said the game is not a sequel to Fallout 3, it's simply another Fallout game in the universe, and has no impact on Bethesda's Todd Howard and his studio's unannounced projects, which may or may not be Fallout related. Bethesda hopes to show the game for the first time later this year, but remained tight lipped on many details. Bethesda did confirm that Fallout: New Vegas will be the same sort of role-playing game as Fallout 3.

Ugg so it's ganna be like Fallout 3??? I really disliked Fallout 3. I would really wish they made it more like a traditional RPG and without all that crap they did to it and actually made the quests fun and engaging. I'm having more fun playing Phantasy Star 4 than I did playing Fallout 3.

Don't like it? Don't play it. Personally, I can't wait. I love Fallout 3.

Cus I was hoping that they'd go in a different direction cus I love Fallout and hope they would change it up but obviously they won't cus it sold like hot cakes.

I liked Fallout 3, so I will look forward to this.

From a story perspective, though, I thought the DC setting was awesome, while the number of shits I give about Las Vegas is less than 1. 😛 We'll see what they do with it.

Actually, they're working on this with Obsidian. Considering how much I loved Planescape: Torment and Knights of the Old Republic 2, I can't wait!

Bitchin'...

Vegas, huh? They may as well do LA then. Got my fingers crossed on them adding in usable vehicles. If they could fit horses into Oblivion, a dirt-bike or dune buggy has to be doable.

Where does it say it will be like Fallout 3? For all we know Obsidian might not use the Oblivion engine and might do something entirely different, hence the spin-off and not sequel status.

Maybe it's wishful thinking but it's not necessarily going to be like Fallout 3 with different content.

I enjoy the Fallout universe, and Fallout 3, despite its shortcomings, was light years ahead of Oblivion in nearly all aspects. OE does have talent, but, thus far, their publisher has fvcked them over repeatedly. I wish they'd go independent.

Sweet, they are letting the developers of Fallout 1 and Fallout 2 make another Fallout game. With each OE / BIS release, I hope for another PS:T, but I know that it is a dream 🙁

Hopefully, their publisher wont force them to ship it long before it is ready, dang Lucas Arts and Atari.

Sweet idea MoMeanMugs: Using a tacked-on, cumbersome third-person perspective can only make a bland mediocre first-person shooter that much better!

Considering it's Black Isle, and that PS:T is one of the best RPGs ever fucking made, I'll be watching this title closely.

But I have no more faith in the PC gaming industry, so my hopes will not get high.

No idea, maybe they have their hands full with TES 5. Personally though, I am at 50/50 faith in both developers, so it might as well be Obsidian. The setting, staff background and a smidgen of my own optimism make me pretty excited to even hear the news.
