Biden has a stutter. He doesn't always do well speaking off the cuff. This is nothing new. One of the ways he has learned to cope with his stutter is to have prepared remarks that he has practiced and edited to avoid words that can trip him up.

People that make a big deal out of this are just insane.

It is not just the stutter/teleprompter but there really is no point in bringing up the numerous other examples of his cognitive decline because I am sure you have an excuse for every one of them (I am sure the most common one will be 'fake news').

But if you think Biden is physically able to handle the duties of President for the next 4 years (much less until November), that is on you.

I would vote for a corpse (D) than Trump. The president doesn't do the job on his own: he surrounds himself with competent people to carry out his agenda. And if the president dropped dead in office, that's why we have the backup president.

What I do know is that this media (both professional and on social channels) circus that has been continuous with Biden, but somehow not with Trump, despite one being an extremely real threat and the other being one of the most successful progress administrations in the last 50 years. Trump just spouted lies the whole debate and expressed crazy wishes, but somehow, we circle back to "is Biden too old?"
 
Well, if it goes to Harris, she has 4 months to affect her ratings. I mean the odds are probably better for that than Joe becoming mentally fit. She may fail, but Biden is definitely getting worse, not better.

I'd be fine with Harris taking over as the head of the ticket. Continuity would be important, and you can't just push aside a black woman - the optics would be terrible, and we need to show the communities that came out for Biden in 2020 that we as a party didn't forget that.

The main thing I find that is just pure insanity is the nature of the coverage (ie, Trump lying, but loudly was NBD), and the fantasy land nonsense that seems to push Harris aside altogether.

It's also more of a time to just put your qualms to the side and focus on the big picture: beating Trump and the Republican bullshit nonsense. 3.5 years of people stabbing Democrats in the back, despite delivering a great economy, numerous great pieces of legislation, and federal departments that are working for the people instead of for big corporations. Push them to do more, but reward the good things or they'll never pander to those constituencies.

It simply is the only even somewhat realistic option at this point if Biden bows. Going to a contested convention is crazy talk.

I mean sure. But the Republicans have shown who they are, so I don't think it's too crazy to ask the Dems to put forth a mentally competent candidate. The Republican party is evil now, and so we can't expect them to do anything decent or rational.

But really, if you don't think your party should put forth a mentally capable presidential candidate, you have fallen down mighty far and hard. We aren't the Republicans.

Nearly 70 percent of progressive voters say President Biden should suspend his campaign after last week’s debate performance, a new survey found.

The poll, conducted by Our Revolution, surveyed more than 17,000 progressive Democratic voters and found 67 percent of them say it’s time for Biden to step aside.

The calls for a new candidate were squashed by the White House and Biden campaign in recent days. Biden and his team insist he is ready to beat former President Trump.


Although Biden’s lackluster debate performance has sparked panic among Democrats about his ability to lead the country and take on Trump in the polls this November, he hasn’t lost immense amounts of support among progressive voters.

Just 32 percent of respondents say they’re less likely to support Biden after the debate, while 57 percent say his performance didn’t affect their support.

The results indicate that while Democrats are urging the party to find a replacement candidate to top the ticket, they may fall in line if Biden stays to take on Trump.

The survey was first reported Tuesday in Politico Playbook.

Fifteen percent of progressives say they are unlikely or very unlikely to vote for Biden if he remains the nominee, and 11 percent are unsure what they would do. Sixty-five percent say they are very likely going to vote for Biden, the survey found.

Generally, progressive voters said they are worried about Trump winning the election. Thirty-eight percent say they feel sad, 35 percent feel frustrated and 11 percent are angry after the debate. Just 9 percent of progressives feel fired up or hopeful, the survey found.

The Our Revolution survey was conducted among 17,410 progressive voters via email in the 72 hours immediately following the debate.

How has that had anything to do with, you know, his actual performance in the job? Which, based on all metrics, has been quite impressive.

That's not denial and it's not insane. What is borderline insane is the bed wetting overreaction to a single debate performance (that was watched by record low #s) in a race where almost everyone is already decided. But sure, lets do something completely unexpected and without precedent as a response. I'm sure it'll work out better in the long run.

Bedwetting, childish morons. It's how we got W and Trump and 6 seat conservative super majority at SCOTUS. Who are those 15% going to vote for? RFK Jr? Nobody?

Our current political environment is because of their childish obsession with "perfection" vs "the good".
